Honestly I'm a bit baffled about how Shelvey has suddenly turned into Pirlo. The bloke is 26, and he spent last season in the Championship. Just because he likes to drift around and pump out 60 yard balls, doesn't mean he's anywhere near the ability of Henderson and Dier
Well I guess we'll just have to differ then. My point really is that we always seem to have the same mentality. Pick a team to grind something out. And then don't. If we had Shelvey on board then we would at least have another option even if he didn't start. What 'other option' do we now have? As in 'something completely different'. OK. I have a bit of a vested interest here. I once played the game to a half-decent level around 40 years ago. And had a trial for a club currently in the Prem. although I won't say which one on the grounds you might then hate me. And I played No.10. And I wasn't very good at 'tracking back'. In fact, I don't think that 'tracking back' had been invented back then.
It was Everton, wasn’t it. You ****. Or Muff, perhaps. You ******. Or Palarse? You had an intimate knowledge of the streets surrounding the ground, I recall.
Loftus-Cheek? The Palace fans seem to think he's a top player. I think he'll certainly give us something different from that position. People seem to dismiss Henderson and Dier like they are crap. They are the first name on the teamsheet for two managers that play open, expansive football. Both of them know how to operate in teams like that, and I feel that's why Southgate wants them in the side. Henderson especially, I feel like people are unwilling to accept he's now a quality player after years of abuse
I've never said that Dier or Henderson are crap. But they don't have 'Shelvey vision'. Remember, Shelvey's the 'dark Lord personified' in real flesh. We need players like Dier and Henderson. But we've already got them in, well, Dier and Henderson. But Loftus-cheek over Shelvey? Different position maybe but ffs!
Loftus-Cheek is a better attacking threat than Shelvey but they won’t be being looked at as similar options had they both gone. RLC will be seen as the understudy to whoever the No.10 is (Alli) probably. I do tend to agree with Kelso loosely that there should be someone more creative next to Henderson or Dier, rather than the two of them together. I really do think it would have been Chalobah and his recovery window was so cruel. Another few weeks and I think he may have snuck in. We all know what Hughes can do too. I hate the bloke but Wilshere and Shelvey have far more to offer than Lewis Cook and Jake Livermore.
Jack Wilshere not happy as you might expect . Meanwhile we talk about a lack of depth in the England squad and it's shown up by some of the players France have left out! https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/football/44163250
Wilshere is a tool. He has done nothing this season or last to show that he’s worth more to the squad than anyone who is actually in it and his statement alludes to the fact that someone on the plane to Russia will be sitting in his seat. Shows the chatacter of the guy thus proving Southgate’s point in not taking him. The guy is hardly Gazza.
According to reports on SSN Jack Wiltshire is claiming he is fit and ready and SHOULD be in the England squad. Who the **** does he think he is, the arrogant git!!!
If you've watched Arsenal this season, he's been pretty good. Much better than he has been in previous years. His reputation for being a grade a **** and his hilarious rise and fall aside, through form this season he should definitely be ahead of Livermore, Delph and Cook.
I don’t know enough about Cook but I can agree about Livermore. However, your reasoning for Wilshere being in there applies to Delph - form has been good and Guardiola obviously rates him as he’s played a lot. But I concede that Wilshere offers more creatively. Sadly his attitude and injury record means he’s never going to be suitable for a tournament where games come reasonably thick and fast. He has undoubted pro’s but they are outweighed by the con’s.
We can't actually take a midfielder who passes forward. I laughed then sighed and thought this is probably the most uninspiring England squads I've seen ever. Does Southgate intend on playing it long with the unhealthy looking Pickford between the sticks? So on that note we will do well and make a mockery of my limited football knowledge.
We know Kelso is a keen birdwatcher but I suspect that, had his life followed a different path, he would have developed a pathological dislike of Seagulls. And they of him.
Barking up the wrong tree. Not many gulls in Stanley Park or Croydon. Well actually there are quite a few now. But there were a whole lot less then.
Mmm, I’m not sure that answer disproves my guess but I’ll let someone else have a crack. This is a bit like 3-2-1 with Ted Rogers (RIP) and Dusty Bin. I expect The Grumbleweeds to turn up soon. Wonder if Mollyboo has a view of their musical stature?
Well, I thought I had done, but perhaps too subtly... a club whose (supposed) rivals are the Seagulls... Sarf London’s finest.
Had to look that manager up. Bert Head. Means nothing to me, though he was in charge for 328 games. Still, I guess if you were only on trial you didn’t have much to do with the Head man?
