Mr Stone's (biology/PE teacher at B'wood's NHS in the 80's) "missus" was one "Julie(?) Stone" was a page three "stunna"*. The apocryphal story was someone stuck a "page 3" of her on the changing room wall. Cue Mr Stone's comment of "You can look at 'em...I can touch 'em." as he took it down...

*Just done 3 google image searches (no luck!) - enough is enough (so my ISP tells me).

Was that the Garston Manor Sports Rehabilitation Centre (great excitement at Parmiters when we heard Malcom McDonald was recovering there from knee problems) or the Garston Manor Finishing School for Psychopathically Gifted Children?

Bit unfair picking on over the hill sports men with crippling leg injuries.

It possibly was - it was reading the earlier posts that jogged my memory.

He was only at the school for my first year, '83, he was idolised by the girls in my year. A great big rugger bugger.

I find this comment a little unpalatable as Garston Manor was one of the SEND schools I was looking at sending son to. The present school gets strong support from A. Watford-Player (who doesn't appear to publisise his support).

And if you'd been caught naked in a school pool, you'd be on the register for life

When I was a teen it was a school where kids who had difficulty with living in a school discipline were given an environment to bring them on and help them integrate. I had a very good friend who spent a lot of time there; one of my favourite people ever, with an excellent, if occasionally a little cruel, sense of humour.

I wouldn't hesitate to send my kids there if they were having issues. It did a great job for her (she's a VERY successful business woman now - not because of the school, but it played a part her development).

Its just a bit of school kid humour from four decades ago, when I am sure their methods, and childish humour were very different from what they are today. Are you sure this forum is the right place for you?

    Lighten up buddy.

Does anybody remember the caretaker? I recall great hilarity when he painted on the fence by the pool in 5ft high letters 'KEEP OFF THE GRSS'
Also, before the pool was put in, I have a recollection of firing .22 rifles with the school scout troop in the shooting range that was there. Am I dreaming it?

Before the pool was put in? I think the pool was there before the second world war. When I started there it was fairly small and had a few changing huts (if I remember rightly until a couple of years before I went there it was compulsory for the boys to swim naked). Make of that what you will. Later on I think they built a better pool.
The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) did practice their rifle firing down that end of the playing field near the pool.

There were still open air, stable like changing huts when I was there in the 90s.

The rifle range was an old, corrugated hut type building. Not sure if that was rased to make way for the new flats on that side of the field

Poor old Marco. I've been harsh where he's concerned, but even I wouldn't have wished Hillingdon Hospital on him.

Nowt wrong with HH. Well except for the complete lack of resource for the wards to function properly. Two of my kids born there and they kept my dad alive numerous times when we was in a bad way. Northwick Park however. Dear God I wouldn't even want a Luton fan to be stuck there....

Compensation!! We should still be getting compensation from Everton for tapping up. Silva what a nob.

If he does join Everton (or West Ham maybe, but particularly if he joins Everton) I hope the entitled muppets who boo our own team and slag off our own players will direct a whole season's worth of ire in the right direction towards him when he comes to the Vic.

I still suspect we have evidence of something untoward and will be holding that against Everton. Personally I believe Silva will go to Everton and Moshiri will pay Gino the compensation amount. Not that we’ll ever find that info out.

Thought that compensation noise had dried up. Doubt he has a leg to stand on and the club obviously agree

If Everton pay Watford millions in compensation it'll appear in the accounts in some form.

Oh I know. I just mean it’ll appear a further 10-12 months down the line when people are less interested and Silva will likely have been sacked by Everton already.

I'll see your Northwick Park and raise it to St Mark's (attached to Northwick Park). Who'd have thought that a complex of two large, multimillion pound hospital buildings' exteriors would have required routine maintenance?

I bet Silva and Pozzo could easily work out something out of court. If I were Pozzo I'd proper drag this out, stall Silva's career as long as possible

I can't understand why people would still want to hire him.

He leaves every club at the literal first opportunity, and he hasn't even achieved that much.

He got a club promoted, then won a cup in a joke league with 3 good teams, then won the league in a joke league with 3 good teams, leaving each of them at the literal first opportunity.

He was then relegated with Hull, and left immediately. Then he tried to leave us for Everton after 7 games, before taking us on three months of relegation form football, sulking until he was sacked because he was too much of a limpdick to resign himself.

The man is a tool, and from a neutral perspective he is somebody that nobody should want near their club.
