Much better. My best mate's a Claret too. As is my wife's ex-husband and my nephew. So no hard feelings really. But I do have to ask, why are you still here?
You've done very well & got the respect of most other clubs with your achievements this season. Do be careful about getting over confident because those foundations will inevitably gets dismantled one day, perhaps sooner than you think. Good to see all smaller competing PL clubs punching above their weight (like us both) without mega money, good for us, aspirations of the Championship clubs & all the competing lower divisions. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Think the Brexit analogy is spot on. The “thuggish, idiot, hard working class Brexit voters” come down to the flat white drinking entitled “would be ashamed to come from a Brexit voting town” and do a job on them Fans exactly mirroring the players How I long for players like Burnley have not hopeless and crew
The only problem with playing the Brexit card is Watford, three rivers and hertsmere all voted leave...
And all I have been reading for the last few pages is generalisations. Mostly thrown and the two Burnley fans for no reason
To be fair until recently I’ve never been able to comprehend how any sane individual with an IQ over 37 could’ve voted for Brexit. Then the other day I watched a programme hosted by Robert Peston where he interviewed a load of northern Burnley types who voted for Brexit and for the first time it made sense. They basically said their lives are so **** that they voted leave because they couldn’t believe the end result would make their lives any worse than they already were. A sort of ‘Hail Mary’ if you will. It was quite brilliant to then watch Robert Peston tell them this was utterly stupid and their lives very definitely could and very likely will get worse. As if watching Burnley week in week out wasn’t punishment enough.
I saw that program thought peston came across the same as all the others. Without a clue of the issues that being part of the has done to large parts of the country. I have no idea how anyone voted remain probably because racism or some other feeling. Watch Jonathan pie referendum special the thoughts of the true left bet you any money Corbyn voted leave
But anyway enough about politics Watford are a mentally weak team full of journeymen and chancers, the cheap option I reckon and I am so falling out of love for the club..... shame
I think it’s a simple as the fact that we have top 6th midfield, but also a top two championship strike force and a mid table championship defence.
Yeah maybe but then even when we went up we choked and didn’t win the title Could have got automatic with zola on the final day choked Choked at the play off final Choked at the fa cup semi final All the managers we have been through only zola and joka have managed to form a winning mentality. More players in the side I dislike than like which is strange
For some of you grey-beards out there, my first Burnley game was at West Ham, in our relegation season of August 1975, Leighton James & Peter Noble were our scorers and the previous season we'd finished 10th in the old 1st Division. Since then, I've seen us in all 4 Divisions, win a Championship play-off final at Wembley in front of 80,000+, and seen us lose 0-6 at home to Hereford in front of a gate of 1,961... For this Claret, at least, over confidence is not a problem !!
Well the last few pages have been interesting I woke up in the night and realised what we need, we need Lloyd Doyley back, he would never let our defence crumble like it does.
As it happens, more than half the U23 team is "black" and nearly 100% of the U18 team So much for prejudice. We signed Lennon and N'Koudou in January - not the average white Caucasians.
Balanced & reasonable, C4M. That always gets an audience on here. Two q’s. What in/outs do you envisage over the summer? More broadly, what could go wrong? Btw, SD might be with you for quite some time. The only ‘higher up’ outfit which may offer him employment, I fancy, is England. Not Big 6, not Everton, not WFC. Lesta? E Mids connection?
Appreciate that, " Rookery Dad " .... In terms of in/outs over the Summer, I think Scott Arfield, Dean Marney, Adam Legzdins, Tom Anderson, Freddie Ulvestad, Nahki Wells and Aiden O'Neil will be released /sold after the season's end. If the Club think's the money's right, they may accept offers for either Tom Heaton/Nick Pope ( One, not both ), James Tarkowski, Steven Defour, Robbie Brady, Sam Vokes or Ben Mee. Tarks and Ashley Barnes have just signed long term deals, but we all know that means Jacks**t in the modern game !! In terms of signings, we may look at the odd player from relegated Clubs who wishes to leave and also mine the proven seam from the Championship.... re-signing Jay Rodrigues from WBA, a Burnley lad, would be very popular amongst the fans.... What could go wrong ? Sean Dyche's departure for one, although he signed a long term Contract in January, to replace his 12 month " Rolling Contract ". He was an apprentice at Forest under Brian Clough and at Burnley has control over virtually every aspect of the Club, from the design of the new training ground changing facilities, to the potential Transfer targets ! With Foreign Owners favouring a " Head Coach " and " Director of Football " system, I'd be hopeful that we can keep hold of the " Gravel Voiced " legend !! N.B: I was present at Graham Taylor's retirement game on 6th May 2001 , and apart from the odd " D***head ", he got a very warm reception and a special momento award from Burnley F.C. that was presented on the pitch prior to the game. Eight months later, when he did a " Sinatra " and came out of Retirement to manage Aston Villa, I understand we had enough class not to ask for it's return !!!
You are, I'm sure, aware that Robert Peston's real title is " The Honorable Robert James Kenneth Peston ", being the son of the late Lord Maurice Peston. Lord Peston of Mile End, son of Abraham Peston & Yetta Malt, was a senior Economist, much beloved in Labour Party circles, during the later part of the 20th Century and early 21st Century ! Neil Kinnock, ex-firebrand Labour Party Leader, campaigned for the UK to leave the E.U. in 1983, but by 2016, Baron Kinnock of Bedwalty, and Baroness Kinnock of Anglesea, his wife, were committed European Union fanatics . This may or may not be because of Mrs Kinnock's 15 year Service as an MEP, or Lord Kinnock's years as a EU Commissioner! Oddly enough, their son, Steven Kinnock, managed to get a job as a researcher at the EU, on graduating, and thereafter worked for the " British Council " in Europe, before becoming the Labour MP for Aberavon, a sinecure for life !! What the Kinnock's won't tell you is that they are liable to have their highly lucrative pensions stopped should they issue any public pronouncements critical of the E.U. !! Just saying !
Blah blah blah brexit Predictable result, same as every other game and you knew it would happen as soon as we took the lead. Play nice football, concede from literally any ball into the box. It is pathetic. Find it hard to really blame Gracia when you have janmaat, holebas and britos as your first choice defenders. No idea why we persist with one up front though. It doesn't bring us lots of goals, and we concede goals constantly. At this point we should really just be trying to out-score people snake-style.
Come on, there are valid reasons for leaving the EU, but believing made up vote -leave propaganda like this just makes you look thick as ****.
As a remain voter myself I think saying there are zero aspects in favour of leaving the EU makes you look completely blinkered. The items in favour of being in EU strongly outweigh them (in my opinion of course).
