I think he's worth 60m in today's market. I imagine we will get 30-40, plus extra bonuses if certain conditions are met.
At least. How many central midfielders are there that can legitimately do everything? I'm surprised City haven't been mentioned, he would suit the way they play down to the ground
Kante had a buy out clause written into his new contract, Chelsea met that so he was sold. Club and player happy all round. Unlike Mahrez who didn’t have one inserted into his new £100k a week contract hence the spitting of his dummy and tossing of all his toys! We need to do similar with Doucoure, sign a new contract with a £50m buy out or whatever all parties would agree on! Problem solved in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Came here to say just this. They'd better start discussions now if they want it done by the end of the summer window..
The league heavyweights, those ones. In contrast to Ed ‘footprints on my back’ Woodward. Don’t want to lose Gino in the summer window.
I’m surprised United haven’t been mentioned. They need somebody who can tackle, run from deep, be creative and put in the yards to make up for Pogba’s ill discipline.
Oh **** Watford: Doucoure would not say no to Arsenal or Tottenham For So Foot, Abdoulaye Doucouré spoke about his future. The 25-year-old French midfielder is open to a start, to say the least: "It's clear that when Tottenham or Arsenal come knocking at your door, it's much harder to refuse. are two emblematic clubs that have an important history, Arsène Wenger is a great coach, Tottenham has had very good results for several years and they are interesting clubs for any player, I think. it will only be beneficial for me, and at the end of the season we'll see what's best.I have some ambition, and especially that of playing in a very big club someday.Today, I focus on my season in Watford and we'll see what happens at the end of the season. "
Gino will do what he can to keep him; if Doucs wants to go he'll go, and very good luck to him. I won't loose any tears over a player going where he wants and us getting a decent fee for him. Still, think it may be the time to ask Elton to promise Abdoulaye the chance of recording a new version of "don't go breaking my heart" if he'll hang on another year. Gotta be better than the Rue Paul version.
I think from what he has said before Arsenal would be Doucoure's preferred destination but Man U are probably the most likely to offer to offer the highest fee if they are interested.
If he wants a big move he really has the chance to impress in our away games at Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Man Utd. Then let the bidding commence.
An absolute cracker from the United forum this morning... "This wouldn't surprise me, offers very little on the ball but will do the dog work for Matic."
I don't mind if he goes, but it would be extremely frustrating if a big club comes in and tries to lure him away on prestige alone, while short-changing the club. If they come in and offer 40million then fair enough. Watched the Palace Utd game and Doucoure would have played Pogba off the park.
Something lost in translation here. In fact, when AD says Arsenal have a great coach, he means their team bus.
Arsenal preferred, but is that because frenchman Wenger is there? May not be the case next season. It would be ironic if Doucs has a blinder on Sunday, contributing to Arsene taking the long lonely walk in May.
which one of you fuccers are buddies with a man utd fan then eh? From their forum: "Yea a lad I work with is a big Watford fan so I find myself watching them whenever possible just to give him **** if they lose. Doucoure looks a player alright, and has definitely been their best player this year. They were genuinely playing really well at the beginning of the season too."
Umm, when we played Utd in November Pogba dominated the match and regularly breezed passed Doucoure as if he wasn't there - the free kick for their second goal even came from Pogba running passed Doucoure and Doucoure desperately trying to bring him down and taking 30metres to do so. It was kind of an off day for Doucoure in general, but then Palace was an off-day for Pogba. Doucoure is def a £40mil player still, but I'm not convinced he's good enough to be a regular starter for what should be a title-challenging side.
We should (if not already) be seriously scrutinising the squads of the top 6 and when we sell Doucoure we should try and include one of their up and coming stars in the deal or at the very least secure one of their decent players on a season long loan with the top 6 club paying the players wages or some of it if it is above our level.
At this level, I don't know why we should act like a Championship/newly promoted team and loan in players to develop them for clubs we wish to compete with, unless it is with a cast iron option to buy. I hope we have gone beyond loaning in players who are not yet good enough for their own team. An established player to do a specific job is one thing, but an unproven player for the benefit of another team is something else.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if we took the Doucoure money to bring in Dendoncker and Deulofeu. Whilst I'd still be gutted to lose the big man, two top new talents wouldn't be the worst outcome.
Apologies. You got there first. I’m guessing it’s French so your statement reassures me I was right or at least made a better than average guess.
You imply Gino has a long list of targets & simply goes down them alphabetically. I wouldn’t describe myself as a ‘football guy’ but that would surprise me. More like how it would work on Sesame Street.
Hopefully we can get the Doucoure transfer sorted nice and early. With the money we'll get for him we will find a decent enough replacement and it shouldn't affect us too much.
