18yo Stevenage defender. Was linked in January and apparently we're still being linked. Supposedly Arsenal and Spuds battling for him. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/w...ve-for-highly-impressive-league-two-defender/ No idea what Alan Nixon is saying as his Twitter is restricted, so do your own work.
What could we offer that Spurs couldn’t? Surely not a first team place. (Vs Arsenal, things are more clearcut. On our side of the hedge, you don’t need to wear a red nose, a water spurting lapel accessory is optional & a standard footwear fitting is not 35G.)
Looks a great prospect but...... we only have so much to spend to keep enough quality in the starting 11 to retain our place in the prem. If we can afford to buy this type of player for a few £mill with a % on resale then great but not a large down payment on a player who won't impact the first 11 for 2-3 years. Our record of buying and developing young cheap prospects and turning them into £20m+ players has been a bit hit and miss recently. Not sure there is such a thing as a cheap British prospect ?
Not in the Championship or above. Once you get to league 1/2 the prices drop quite dramatically. Alli for £5m being the main example.
Would be a fantastic signing, certainly talented and one for the future, a potential England international I recon as well. Could be the best bit of business the Pozzo's ever do if we can pip Tottenham, Juventus, Barcelona, PSG, Harrow Boro and and Headstone Manor to the signing.
Any thoughts on where an outstanding 'future England' lad of 18 should go? The phenomenon of 'Chelsea stockpiling' is a real blight on the careers of these ones. City & Liverpool are picking teenagers but with stellar youth international experience. The WFC/Lesta/Muff/Brighton tier tends towards seasoned defenders. The Pulis grouping requires min age of 37 with GoT monster experience preferable. Would a Fulham/Brentford move be constructive for him now? Reids? Uncle Heurelho? Anyone? Yours sincerely Ben W
Moving up the leagues is obviously the priority, but it's a tough decision. Ideally you don't want to move to a "top" team straight from Stevenage as you'll obviously find yourself with very limited game-time. You want a club that's a decent step-up, that also has a proven track record at giving young players a decent amount of games. Fulham and Brentford are great shouts, Southampton possibly a good move as well.
Slav's clearly comfortable giving Sessegnon ample game time. Didn't his kid bro win the WC for an age group this year? Odd being Ryan Sessegnon & not even being the best footballer in your family.
Yeah, Ryan won the U19 Euros with England as well, alongside Chalobah Jr (Trevoh). Some talented families out there!
We bid £500,000 for him in January. No doubt we'll match his asking price in the summer. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...rise-and-rise-bucking-the-trend-a8265681.html
Can't help but think we shoulda got this done in January. Everyone will be after him now and we'll get outmuscled quite convincingly.
We are more likely to give him first team football that Spurs and Liverpool, Less upheaval to move to us than Brighton, and should be a more attractive option than Leeds or Derby.
Out of the Stevenage squad as a club has met their valuation of him. We hold a very strong interest in the player.
Good spot. Here's a bit more on the story. https://www.stevenagefc.com/news/20...awn-squad-stevenage-fc-transfer-negotiations/ However, I'm a bit surprised he's been pulled out of their squad. The window doesn't open for ages!!
Interesting article, but where does it say that a club has met their valuation? How do you know we hold a very strong interest in the player ?
Chairman Phil Wallace said "Ben came back from International Duty with England last week and we have had developments that suggest a deal will be agreed shortly for him to move when the window open This is a bit of a clue tbf. And I have heard bits and bobs. Also we had a bid rejected for him according to the Gaurdian link.
I hope it's us. The academy isn't producing the goods and Andy Scott was brought in to identify and attract players from lower EFL clubs to us. This is exactly the market we should be competing in. It'll end up being Swansea or something.
I know I'm being pedantic, but the valuation hasn't been met yet. The Chairman said "We have made public our valuation and the closer we are getting to that the more likely it is that Ben will move". Close, but no cigar yet (although I suspect there will be an agreement shortly).
Doubtful it will be us. My sources tell me we're after a promising 33 year old Bolivian to reinvigorate our defence

Seems highly unlikely that a potential transfer to Watford would upset any player to the extent that they are incapable of focusing on the next game; unless we're back in Holebas territory. Sent from my P01Z using Tapatalk
If he has sense he will come to us as he has more chance of getting first team football. At the Woolwich he will end up being farmed out on loan and unlikely he is going to get past Sanchez and Vertonghen. Even Foyth cannot get a game for them and he is a level above Wilmot. I do hope we make the valuation as we need to get these kids first before their price rockets as with Maddison. It will be a while before the Academy gets up to speed as it is still far from churning out first team calibre players compared to clubs like Toffee FC, Nottingham Forest, Southampton and even Attack the Buspool.
