Right. Easier said than done though when you work in a big office, and the female/male ratio is approx 70/30.

So do it if you never have, just for the experience, but don't expect it to last or end well, just adds more pressure to the r/ship.

One of the biggest unrecognised factors in it is seeing each other morning, noon & night. Just my opinion.

    No, it really isn't.

Just don't. There are plenty of women to be found outside of the office.

Depends. If its just a bit of fun I'd steer clear because of the added complications. If the 2 of you have really connected, then its worth the risk. My wife and I met at work. Many couples do.

I can't see what the problem is unless there is a line management involved - in which case, leave well alone.

But adults get over many hurdles establishing a relationship, working in the same office, is just another one (particularly when it goes wrong), but that is all part of life's rich tapestry. There are no less than five married couples in the HMRC office I currently work in.

    Probably some dodgy tax scam!

Anyway, tell us more El Disraido.

    Is it something you’re considering?

    Something that is happening?

    Oh and gizza job.

Do it. If she's the right one, you'll find a way to make it work. If she's not..deal with it

Funnily enough, we had a count up in our office last week, and there's 8 couples in an office of about 140 people.

Only something I'm considering.. I'm yet to ask her out. Just not quite sure how to do it.

Thanks for the replies all, any further input welcome.

If you decide to go for it don’t try and keep it a secret. People will realise and then it can become awkward.

Been at my current place of work for approaching 2 and a half years. Had a brief month-long 'I don't know if this is what I want' / 'Let's just see what happens' thing with someone in my office. We intended to keep it quiet but a couple of people found out/guessed what was going on. No problems or repercussions from it despite it being an office of about 30 people, but hindsight is wonderful and part of me wishes we hadn't bothered.

As enjoyable as it was, it ceased after New Years and things haven't been quite how they were ever since. Pros and cons.

Met my Wife at work and we still work at the same place. It wasn’t really ever an issue, just a little awkward to start with because you’re in that phase of being on your best behaviour and feeling like naughty school children around each other, but you’re like that for 8 hours a day at work. The one thing we try and avoid doing now for the good of our relationship is going into work together, we often work different hours anyway, but when we don’t I prefer to get to work early and she doesn’t so it always leads to arguments! Other than that we don’t have to see each other if we don’t want to as we work in different departments so it doesn’t really cause any problems. It’s something I always imagined I’d hate, but it really hasn’t been an issue. We’ve been together for 7 years.

This. If one of you work for the other then it's tricky. If not don;t try and keep it a secret, but don't go about broadcasting it either. The people that would want to know or even care about it are generally the people who shouldn't know.

Also check there's nothing in the company rulebook.

...but don't ask HR, "on a confidential basis", if there is, or your little plan will be companywide by the time you get back to your desk/office.

Say "Sit on this photocopier, I have something to say to you..."

Other than that I can't help, the gambling industry is still very much male dominated.

Yep. In my experience, HR are the least likely to keep confidential stuff, confidential.

The line management thing is important.
If you/your intended partner are responsible for each other's salary or appraisal then a whole world of issues can be brought up whether the relationship is a success or not.
