Well then, I'm relieved that you don't make the decisions.

I might be confusing two different people, but is lowerrous the same guy who got publicly called out by Deeney for walking off without paying the bill at a preseason event a few years back?

Personally, I would rather see Okaka or Gray start ahead of Deeney, so if it were up to me (which it isn't), I'd sell Deeney and reinvest the money in a different striker.

Not much between the three of them, so I also wouldn't be against selling Okaka or Gray instead of Deeney and getting a new striker.

It's all well and good saying reinvest but you have two days to identify a target, agree a price and work out terms, it's way too late for that 5hit, which is another reason why he must stay until the end of the season, even if we did start with Okaka and Gray what happens when one of them gets crocked?

I am pleased you agree with me as Deeney was instrumental in wins against Swansea and Arsenal

    Games he's started:

    20-01-18 Leicester City 2 - 0 Watford
    16-12-17 Watford 1 - 4 Huddersfield Town
    12-12-17 Crystal Palace 2 - 1 Watford
    09-12-17 Burnley 1 - 0 Watford
    02-12-17 Watford 1 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur
    28-10-17 Watford 0 - 1 Stoke City
    21-10-17 Chelsea 4 - 2 Watford
    30-09-17 West Bromwich Albion 2 - 2 Watford

Games he's come on as sub:

    13-01-18 Watford 2 - 2 Southampton
    28-11-17 Watford 2 - 4 Manchester United
    14-10-17 Watford 2 - 1 Arsenal
    23-09-17 Swansea City 1 - 2 Watford
    16-09-17 Watford 0 - 6 Manchester City
    09-09-17 Southampton 0 - 2 Watford
    26-08-17 Watford 0 - 0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Statistically, he's an impact sub, which means we need an impact starter, no?

Compared to you who bases it on Championship performances?

If we go down and keep Deeney, you'll have the player you want.

BUT WE DON'T CURRENTLY HAVE ONE!! And there does not appear to be one lined up. So you are advocating that we let Deeney go and bring in nobody??

We lost to Everton and scored a last minute equaliser against Liverpool when Okaka had run out of breath and had to be substituted. If you think Deeney is unfit then god help us if our hope is Okaka. Still waiting for three games this season where Okaka and Gray have turned things in a positive way for Watford.

    Where did I say that?

It's already been stated by the club that people have to leave so new players can come in. If we don't have anyone lined we don't let him leave - are you calling Gino incompetent?

The fact they're listening to offers means, they've got someone lined up.

Totally agree but selling Deeney now would be crazy unless you have a financial interest in his sale. We need players who will give something to the cause rather than watch a game pass them by.

The only way we can let any striker go is if we bring in a better striker - aren't we all agreed on that ?
Afobe is not that "better striker" - aren't we all agreed on that (excl ITKJim) ?

I just don't see how you can think about selling him now if the options become Gray, Okaka and A N Other

Gray came on against Liverpool, West Brom and Tottenham

Okaka against Leicester, Everton and Southampton.

    What does that mean?

That's fine if "AN Other" is better than Deeney.

But that's my point, if we're considering letting him go, don't you think they've got people lined up?

    It's the way they work.

The problem is that the options discussed so far are no better than what we have and don't sound as if they are up for a relegation battle. I would be looking to keep Deeney and add another striker because we need Deeney's battling qualities in the next few months. Without Deeney at home to Southampton I don't think we would have scored and that was pretty much proven on Saturday.

I don't think that Gray or Okaka changed the course of those games in the same way Deeney did in the matches I mentioned but I respect your view if that is what you think.

There are other factors in changing a game and that's to do with the opposition as well.

WBA playing Soton in the Cup.

If we’d won on Saturday, Troy could have played a half for each team.

Yeah he's started 8 games and come on as sub 7 times.

    https://uk.soccerway.com/players/troy-deeney/51197/

Then click on the number to show you the game breakdown.

Click on the time played, that's an interesting stat, he's only played the full 90 minutes 6 times this season.

So with Deeney staying, it feels like a signing. Wouldn’t be surprised if the powers that be started the ******* rumour in the first place.
    Get some players in, Gino!!!!

Sounds like he’s staying put, which has just restored my confidence that we might well be a premier league club come May.

Sturridge just signed for WBA so perhaps Troy is heading somewhere else or staying. Odds have shortened on him going to Everton.

They get Deeney, and we get them to waive that Deulofeu clause, a few million and Sandro in return. Wouldn’t be against it.

Sandro was very highly rated before his Everton hiccup. Just the type of player (age and profile) I think we should be looking at.

Sandro is not really a striker, more of an attacking midfielder.

Just like every other recent Everton signing.

Okaka has played very few games - against Liverpool he was immense. Otherwise he hasn’t had the game time to turn things around

Gray isn’t a good player so no one could name games he turned around as he isn’t good

Your argument is a logical fallacy

In my view the only player we should keep out of the 3 is Okaka and get rid gray and deeney if possible BUT get in two better players
