I also thought that this morning. He comes across very calmly in interviews but he's got the look of someone who wouldn't hesitate to murder you in your sleep.
Graham Taylor's first four competitive games as Lincoln manager ended in draws.. the first of which was on Boxing Day 1972. Six of the first eight games ended all square and the first win didnt come until the 12th game. It's quite conceivable that his position was in jeopardy during this period. Wimbledon were already in the 4th division with us that season, they replaced Workington, not Southport. Southport were replaced by Wigan.
Gracia will be my 27th manager/coach at Watford since I first watched them. Some I just knew were going to be poor (Bassett, Lee, Perryman, Keen, Vialli, Zola, Jokanovic), others I wasn't sure how they would turn out (McGarry, Furphy, Taylor, Harrison, Lewington, Sannino, QSF) and some I knew were going to be great for us (Rodgers, Roeder, Boothroyd, Jackett, Mazzari, Silva). Just shows what I know. I will not comment on Gracia until at least 9 games in.....
Yes youre right of course. I went with what The undeniable truth hadnt stated.. probably cause of his user name.
I did consider changing my name to 'I Blame Silva' especially when I realised the amusing initials it would create! Bassett was deplorable but just the wrong choice by Elton after GT. He never displayed any of the character flaws that Silva has demonstrated since 'GoodisonGate'. I am having good sport lambasting any poor sap who ventures to deliver a pro Silva oration. My Spurs liking next door but one neighbour has just felt the blast of a monologue! Mr IBB is cowering inside with his Billy Gilbert Annual 1976 and a stiff drink!
Gracia has watched all of our games this season. Blimey, you get a lesser punishment for murder. http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co..../javi-gracia-reveals-watched-watfords-1100175
Sounds more and more like this was coming anyway, if not now then in the summer. Our form and Silva has just accelerated the process.
Apparently he's also been logged into this forum as "Relegation Certs" for a while now. That name rings a bell.
Wouldn't it be funny if they talked about OUR manager for the entire build up to the liverpool game tonight!
I wonder if he knows that Deeney cant run. If not he plays and we may lose a few to start with until he finds out.
I like the cut of this new guy's jib, seems quite modest and hard working. Am slightly concerned his style of play might be Quique 2.0 but will give him 45 mins on Saturday before I completely write him off as a boring pragmatist. Even if his football is turgid, I guess there might be the novelty factor of seeing a defence that's not all at sea to keep me interested for a few games. Viva Javi!
Not sure if this has already been linked, but this Spanish football journo on TalkSport reckons we will not get boring turgid football from Gracia. Hope he's right! https://talksport.com/football/who-...-more-about-boss-who-valued-very-highly-spain
I'm concerned. Our defence is hopeless and has been for more than just the reign of Silva. This guy will need to perform a miracle to get them acting as a unit. Not only that, we're going to lose our one saving grace that in most matches we always had the potential to knick something (even Saturday). This may well be like under Walter, protecting a 1.0 defeat... Anyway too early to judge, and something had to change
I wonder if we might be onto something here. For the last 3 season (including this one): we have had a new manager and started well then fallen apart after Xmas. So from now on we get 2 managers a year so we get two good half’s to each season.
Didn't we sign Brian Pollard afterwards as he ripped us a new one on the day It was classic watford - we won away first day as i recall / had a new manager and we all thought - this is it - then we got totally shredded in first home game - mind the season got a lot better!!
According to the excellent Watfordarchive.com Harrison's first game as manager was a 2-1 win versus Wimbledon at Plough Lane 2 days before the 2nd Cup replay.
