Giraldi giving slightly mixed messages there. I think anyone can take something from it. Think we shouldn't sign anyone? We probably won't. Think the squad is good enough already? Yeah, it's great. Want to see us bring in new players? We're on it.
I struggle to see the correlation between 40 goals conceded already and a "well balanced side". All well and good listing these injured players but they're injured and have been all season with no prospect of returning soon. We need players NOW. A Southampton win and we're up the creek.
You have no idea when players will be returning. A couple could be back in training next week for all we know. We don't have an unlimited wage budget unfortunately, injured players still need to be paid, it's not like they disappear. They're all vital players for us, we can't afford to not include them in the squad when they're fit.
Whilst anyone would agree with your response here, the original point is still kinda valid seeing as the players are showing no signs of being imminently available, little tangible info from the club as regards to specific time frames about any of the injured players - and that isn't a new thing. It happened last season and has continued into this one. For all we know, Chalobah could be back in two weeks, he could be back in April. And for as long as the club are vague and the players still showing no signs of returning, then it is fair for fans to want players in now who can play. I don't believe any of our fans are foolish enough to believe that players wouldn't leave if new ones came in.
Pretty sure we will only buy replacements for those almost certainly leaving e.g. Okaka, or if the right opportunity arises, like a goalkeeper. I agree that our injury list is not good but we will keep slots in the squad open for guys like Chalobah. We could still have 3 - 4 back by the end of the month. Other clubs like West Ham have caught us up on the injury front. The only player definitely out for the season is poor Hoban. With all the others there at least remains hope!
Silva on SSN in his press conference saying January is a specific market and summer is most important. Didn't look like he's expecting much movement.
Now Iheanacho is supposedly back on the market, I think we should try and bring him in. I know he hasn't done anything at Leicester, but he looked a great player when he was at City, so he probably still has that talent and maybe we are just the club that can bring his back to the fore.
One of the biggest frauds in PL history There is a reason Leicester are willing to a take a huge loss on him after only 6 months
We can't rely on our injured players coming back any time soon, especially with our recent apparent medical inefficiency!
This isn't a rumour and so should be buried in the Suggestions megathread, or preferably, just deleted.
It is rumoured that he is available, and as for the rumour bit, I was not allowed to post the thread without a bracketed sub title, so I chose the nearest option available. In retrospect perhaps I could have used the sub title (Reported)
Can't we put some of our players on pay if you play deals? It's insane we signed an international goalie twice as back up and never played them. Same with players like Dja Djedje. Such a drain on wages. The club should be looking at quality now and not junk. Sometimes it feels like we are run like FM.
Classic example of youngster with too much money too soon. Its signing all this guff and journeymen that's baffling me more though. I know its a very Italian thing to have big squads but why sign players to not even be in the 25 man squad
Kevin Gameiro? £25 million to Swansea is way over what we'd pay but if they're in for him we should be if we can get him for around £15-18 mill. Proven goalscorer.
I have no idea how practical it is but I really like the look of Callum Hudson-Odoi I know he is only 17 but he scores for fun.
My suggestion for the Jan window would be Everest. Special patented design keeps the warmth in in the winter and reflects the heat away in the summer. Perfect solution.
Jack Rodwell? He wants to leave the Mackems and they're willing to tear up his contract but I'm assuming he want's £70k+ wages...
....against Fleetwood. If he wants that much in wages, I suggest China because no one in this country will pay him anywhere near that.
Andre Silva on his way out of AC Milan according to SSN. Swansea favourites closely followed by Wolves. We'd be unlikely to get him given those two clubs Portuguese connections but he'd be worth a shout if we could tempt him.
Loan then? The Mackems need to get him off their wage bill - we agree to pay a percentage - he is good and I'd like to see him link-up with Deeney/Richarlison. He'll also have a lot to prove back in the PL and will try and get back into the England squad.
What about the fact he's not very good and gets injured all the time? We need players to cover for our injured ones, not players to clog up the treatment room even more.
How about we get a medical team that cure a minor hamstring injury quickly instead of seeming to exasperate it and taking 3 months to heal!!
What are you basing the fact that he’s good on though? He was highly rated as a youngster and should have stayed at Everton. But he jumped ship to Man City and ruined himself. Couldn’t buy a game and went to Sunderland where he’s been relegated, looked very poor, injured a lot and in-and-out of their team. If you are basing the fact that he’s good on his early promise and a belief that he can finally stay for and realise that early potential then fine. I’d rather say no based on the decline and everything that has happened since he has left Everton 6 years ago. Would genuinely agree have Ben Watson at this moment in time and that’s saying something.
Note going to open a 3rd thread on Pepe Reina - Other threads have been closed. Napoli are in talks to sign Mignolet which makes Reina free to find another club. Liverpool fans on twitter saying Reina linked with ourselves and Newcastle. Obviously not a long term replacement for Gomes but would certainly be an upgrade on Karnezes (even if only for the remainder of the season) *Liverpool apparently moving for Oblak as a replacement.
