Well I'd tend to agree if it was most sides and Arsenal are strong at home but if we can get at them who knows...
If we go down, then it will down to underfunding and lack of attention to the defence. Statistically we are not the worst, as Stoke have conceded a few more, but imo we have by far the worst defence. How many great saves does Gomes have to make? Without him we'd have conceded over 50 goals by now. We are woefully served by the current defensive members of our squad. But it's not all their fault, under good coaching they would perform better, as QSF proved. Since QSF, both Wally and Silva have not bothered about this area of the game, which is a bizarre way of setting up a team. Unless we seriously invest in better players, or the coach makes a tactical change and focuses on defence, we will probably get relegated. I see no other obvious conclusion. It's a serious problem, and one that shouldn't take vast sums of money to resolve. But if left alone or not recognised, we could be paying the ultimate price come the end of this season.
Martin O'Neill has told Stoke to stick their job. They've almost handled their manager search as well as Everton.
I am more likely to ask that enormous twit to help translate chapter 18 of my text book than I am to be consider his thoughts on Watford. Sky Sports jester in residence.
You'd imagine he is envisaged as just a stopgap until the summer - surely? They will still beat us, though...
I wouldn't say underfunding is the issue, there's plenty of money that has been thrown at the squad. 7th highest in the League someone quoted previosuly? It's just been poorly spent by those in charge of transfers.
Lambert will keep them up, he's a low risk option. Knows the league and has better players than he had at Norwich
Don't think Stoke were too smitten with Mark Hughes when he became manager, but he did ok for them until recently. Anyway, the manager merry-go-round has generally given a club a boost this season and Lambert has the bar set pretty low for him: survival
We are relying on there being 3 other clubs in a bigger mess than us. Then again so is every team from us down in the table. Sadly I think this is the premier league. Top 6, then Everton and perhaps Leicester then the rest. All fighting for the same few players and aiming for 10/11 wins to stay up. Most not even bothering for the cups either. I have the believe that we will somehow scrap the 3/4 wins we need to stay up. Doubt it will be pretty and like last year could be painful at times. I think when Silva goes as he will whatever in the summer we need to have real hard think about what happens next. The Stoke game is massive in a couple of weeks. Win and all is good lose and we really are in massive amount of brown stuff. For what it is worth I think Swansea are down and then its 2 from the next 9. In the end at least 1 of the promoted teams will go.
Hughes would have gone a lot sooner if he hadn't got their only away win at ours. Yes Lambert can't wait for us to rock up.
Always good for a few stats. http://www.wfc.net/stats.htm Our form is dreadful, 4 points out of 32. Palace and West Ham have gained 11 points on us in those 8 games ! Thank god we had a decent start
I think if Silva will definitely be gone in the summer, we need to get rid now. I think managerial continuity will have to come at some stage if the club is the reach the next level.
Fine - and replace with who? Stoke have surely just demonstrated that the options are currently limited. Even Giggs is out of the picture now!
I don't know. However, I would be very surprised if the Pozzo's didn't have a shortlist. Lets face it, any manager happy to be at the club already has that over Silva. There are bound to be plenty of managers looking for a chance in the EPL. Hopefully the next manager doesn't believe so much in his own hype!
At the end of a season, maybe. Not so sure about halfway through - if they are currently in a job. See QSF. How about Louis Van Gaal? He’s out of work.
I just wonder if Everton had shut up and not come looking for Silva would we be where Burnley are now? Not on their current slump but more or less.
Top 5, then *rsenal. The hapless Wenger has now got his team closer to Burnley than Spurs. And that’s before Sanchez goes. And they reckon Wiltshire is their best player.
Paul Lambert is such an uninspiring appointment, although I didn't think Hodgson could pull Palace out of their early season slump, but he's done well there so who knows. Although our situation isn't great, theres enough clubs around the bottom who have similar/worse issues and less points than us.
