Your argument was still silly, even if you have gone some way to correcting it above, because you you were comparing achievements this season when it is clear that Deeney has played far less time than Gray. I am glad my post had the effect of making you improve your argument. Got no problem with the point you are making, just that your argument for it did you no favours and made you look biased, because the info was skewed in favour of Gray.
Given the split of pro- and anti-Gray opinion, I wonder if our fans will soon start fighting amongst each other over him like they did when we last signed a controversial ex-scum forward - Kerry Dixon. It was away at Southend, I think
I expect so. It will be named the Grecian 2000 (!8) Battle, where some or possibly all of Andre will be removed by a noxious liquid and replaced by a grinning goon.
You'll get used to it mate. I have. He'll argue points without reading and understanding the points you are trying to make in the first place. lol
I'm afraid, sir, that it was you who was posting rubbish, and despite me showing precisely how, you steadfastly refused to admit your lack of understanding of my original points, or the fact that I showed that it was not, in fact, rubbish. With all that in mind, what more can be expected of me? At least you don't have such trouble admitting your own insane pomposity, it seems.
Now Silva must continue to play Gray. Believe in him so his confidence can grow. As mentioned in my opening post.
To the neutral reader you are the pompous one in this argument between yourself and Chumlax. I have no idea where you get your sense of superiority from.
Should definitely start v Bristol to try and build on it. Plus they're championship so he'll feel right at home.
For all the criticism well done tonight Andre. More of the same and some decent balls in behind defences certainly against teams that will come at us. Against teams that sit for the love of God play someone like Okaka or Zarate next to him.
Doesn’t matter what it’s like, you don’t get extra points for being further out when scoring. I would love to see him play with Okaka on Saturday as I feel he is better suited to that kind of formation. Decent tonight and hopefully will give him confidence to get his season going.
Hopefully Gray will play on Saturday and get a couple,of goals, this would do his confidence no end of good and put him in a good place for the Southampton match on the 13th!
Oh come on. I admire your loyalty , but apart from his goal ( a simple tap in ) , tonight he was poor. Yes he ran the lines , but his first touch and ability to hold the ball are virtually non existent, and have been in every game he has played for us He had two reasonably tricky chances tonight , that were nowhere near going in . I’m not saying he can’t improve his finishing abs that is a confidence thing for sure , but his complete lack of BASIC technique has led to him being seriously found out at this level . 5-10 years ago you could have got away with poor technique if you did the hard work and scored when it mattered. But the modern game has changed such that CBs, FBs and now even goalkeepers have to have excellent technique . To have a striker who fails so miserably in that area shows a fundamental flaw in the player himself, but more worryingly , in our recruitment department for not spotting it in the first place .
I have no sense of superiority at all. I think perhaps some on here have an inferiority complex about having piss poor arguments pointed out to them though. TBF to Chumlax, and to me, despite taking offence to my comment, he came back clarifying his point and with a proper argument to support the point he was making. I don't mind the abuse garnered, especially if the pomposity also achieved its objective. Maybe I do come across like a school master, and yes I can be a serious ****, but I think it is important not to undermine a good point by supporting it with a poor argument, especially when there is good reasoning to be made.
Haha. Not sure a post could be much more condescending. Poor old Chumlax and his piss poor arguments about the serious matter of sport. Enjoy your day.
Thank you. You are most kind. Chumlax is lucky to have friends who are condescending enough to defend him when they decide he is no longer able to defend himself.
Don’t get me wrong, he has been incredibly poor but a tap in still has to be scored (Deeney, Richarlison) and he has to be there to get the tap in as well. He keeps getting in the right position which is a positive but I totally agree that the rest of his game needs to seriously improve.
Personally I class a tap in as a result of a move by other players in the team which results in a ball landing at the player's feet or head near the line which results in a goal. Bit like Britos's goal against Liverpool that made it 3-3. He was just standing there in the right place at the right time to nod it in. Last night what I saw is a good move down the left, and good movement in the box to get in front of the defender to stroke home.
Lacazette just missed a very similar chance to Gray against Swansea, did all the hard work but just smashed it full blast against the keeper.
If Gray had missed as many chances as morata tonight he would of been hammered and never allowed to step foot inWatdord again
Was wondering if anyone would say this. Morata's 1 v 1 miss was every bit as bad as Gray's and he's got 23 caps for Spain and played for some of the biggest clubs in the world (not Gray, obviously).
