Nathaniel Chalobah & Harry Winks: England call ups

Notice how the national sports media are creaming themselves that Harry Winks has been called up to the England squad as a reserve due to injuries?

Remember when they did that for Chalobah a month ago? Even though he wasn't even a reserve? Oh, wait....

More evidence, if it were ever needed, of ingrained racism and/or 'big-club'-ism in the media.

Winks is probably a decent player of the future actually (like Chalobah)

Probably more worthy of a call up than Delph in the first place!

Imagine all those things, then imagine that person caring about all those things WHILST watching England play with that ******* band playing The Great Escape whilst Dele Alli dives for a penalty against Jersey in a qualifier.

    You'd quit football.

  7. I hate England football. Everything that is wrong with the press , the country, its people. I want them to lose in the group stages (unless a Watford player is in the squad) so that the whole sorry adventure can be put out of its misery, and the pathetic hysteria that accompanies every doomed campaign can be silenced. Along with that godawful band.

I wish I could play trumpet.
I'd sit behind the band and play along, only a semitone higher.

It’s only a matter of time before we somehow get out of the group stage and meet Brazil or Spain and get done 6-0. I genuinely can see the current England side suffering a record defeat at some point.

I'm not sure that there is hysteria anymore not like there used to be anyway but then a lot of it bypasses me nowadays.

The England band sound like a class of 7 year old kids pushing their desks and chairs across an old parquet floor.

Certainly is from the media. But that's their bread and butter. Now the 'great' Wayne Rooney is out of the way, expect massive 'young Lions' clichés to be thrown around along with 'Kane and Alli are the best in the world', to keep the idiots tuning in and the ****wits buying the newspapers.

Certainly any criticism will be banned, I was shocked that they broadcast Shearer calling Alli a 'cheat' on MOTD. 'Moving on' was the terrified Lineker response.

Maybe we'll get another Daniel Sturridge World Cup Subway advert where he sits in a chair looking gormless while some voice over artist gets paid far less to do the work.

Certain double standards going on here. So, if you support the country of your birth when they play football, you hope they qualify and then support them in a Summer tournament, that somehow makes you idiotic going by some of the above posts. So people should just give up on them and hope they don’t qualify or get knocked out early?! Did you do that when we went down to League 1? What about when we got spanked by Yeovil? Throw the towel in because it got embarrassing? No of course you didn’t. Because you had faith that it would eventually get better...and it did. Will England get better? Perhaps not. But so what if people want to go along with the notion that they will. If portugal and Greece can win tournaments, I see no reason why we can’t get it together at least once. Do I enjoy all the games? No. I didn’t like us losing 6-0 to City but I was still at Swansea the week after. I’ve been to 2 World Cups as an England fan and they are some of my favourite football memories.

But yeah, get rid of the band. And there was plenty of press coverage when Chalobah got called up so I don’t think there’s a ‘race’ issue to be had here.

The problem is, 99% of england fans are complete ****s, and the same goes for the team.

Win or lose, who gives a shiny ***** in this day and age? Especially when WFC are ace.

It's hard to say, I guess I'd go to a pub to watch it and be pleased about it until I sobered up. But if we'd have won it in, say 1998, I'd have gone absolutely nuts and been delighted for ages.

Not sure if it's the fact I've got older, or the team has got more hateful. Probably a bit of the former and a lot of the latter.

  22. wfcSinatra

    wfcSinatra Predictor Choker 14/15

    Definitely the latter,

It's rather hard to care about Dele Alli, Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker, Jordan Henderson, Jack Wilshere and so forth.

I'd be buzzing for Kane though, seems like a decent guy and Rashford seems fairly likeable.

It's because of people like you that the way the team is run will never change and why at international level, mediocrity is excellence in the eyes of the FA and the media.

Tbh I'm pretty excited about our current lot (or will be once Chabs is installed). While we might not be quite as good as the Germans we look dangerous and there's a good chance we can do well.

I don't see it. Under Southgate (and Hodgson as well) we just seem to lack urgency and are totally one paced. The Everton of international football. We just grind it out in the qualifiers and get soundly beaten when we play anyone of substance.

Yes but Kane, Ali, Rashford are truly world class and play at the right end of the pitch. We've not hat that since Lineker, Hoddle, Gazza IMO and we ran the Germans very close in those days

So you’re saying I vote with my eyes and feet and don’t go or watch until they are successful? That isn’t how I go about being a football fan.

Come off it. Ali and Rashford are by no means “world class”. They may be in the future. Kane I’d probably agree has earned the label.

I’ll take Hoddle and Gazza over Ali and Rashford every day of the week.

I'm not a huge fan of England at all, because of a number of reasons. But I picked up tickets to the Slovenia game on Thursday purely in hope of seeing Chalobah crocked.... 2 days after getting them, it's announced he's out till Christmas. Fml.

Fair enough and that's your decision. If my club was being run by a bunch of old farts and self serving ****s, happy with the sponsorship money and appointing yes men, I'm sure I'd react more like Charlton fans than England fans.

  35. GoingDown

Describing Rashford as 'truly world class' says it all. Dele Alli has been ***** this season and is a diving little ****. 'Truly world class' though.

Surprised we haven't had 'The Golden Generation' mentioned again.
