Like a lot of people on this forum here I am a little worried about the club not signing another forward player yet. I think we could do a lot worse than Lucas Perez, Arsene Wenger must have seen something...? What do other people think?

I haven't seem any rumours to suggest we are trying to buy him btw, its just a thought...

Have been saying this for a long time, looked very good every time he played for Arsenal

Arsenal fan friends couldn't understand why he didn't play more.

Lot of pace and a good finisher just what we need, as well as upfront he would give another option on the wing

Would no doubt be a great signing but I very much doubt he'd want to come to us or that we'd be able to match his wage demands. The usual problems.

Hasn't he had an offer of a 10-year contract from Deportivo La Coruna today?

A lot of Watford fans on this forum and on twitter have been saying the same for a while. I think he's the calibre of striker we should be aiming for. Performed well in the few opportunities he was given at Arsenal and has all the attributes we should be looking for. Pace, dribbling, finishing and a good work rate.

If we actually went in for him I think we'd stand a decent chance of getting him. The alternatives seem to be Deportivo who finished 16th in La Liga last season and Fenerbahce who play in a piss poor league and don't have Champions League football to offer this season (I think thats the case anyway). Ive also seen reports that Arsenal are hoping to get 12mil for him which could end up being a steal and I think we'd be able to match the wage offers from other clubs as well.

Get him on loan might be realistic

For deportivo to offer him a 10 year contract, which I believe involves a job there after he retires there must be a pretty strong emotional connection from both sides. The only reason he'd choose us is if he wanted to prove Arsenal wrong and and show he can do it in the PL.

I don't think he has been given a proper chance yet. Also Watford should be attractive for him, given that he wouldn't need to move and the training ground is next door to where he goes now.

1 goal in 2 league starts. Pretty good going if you ask me.

For the record, I never said it was limited to league performances either. I'll let you check the figures for yourself

Lars Melvang had 1 goal in 4 league starts. He was ****.

Are we due to play Champions League minnows then?

I don't particularly mind the idea of this signing, after reading about his pre-Arsenal career, but this need by some posters, mostly you, to overinflate a player's ability based on some ****** record at an above average Premier League side is incredible.

Fringe Arsenal players 10 years ago (when they were decent) were mostly quality players and huge potential young players. Now, outside their first eleven, it's mainly dross.

Surprised we don't have the yearly Carl Jenkinson thread or someone saying that Jack Wilshere 'is better than what we have and is a step up'.

So? Why not? Because he can't hack the English game? Because he doesn't like physical defenders? Hates English food? Thinks the women are ugly? Why? Must be some reason that Obi-Wenger Kenobi doesn't rate him, even when their team were on their knees last season.

Might be a decent signing, might not. Who the **** knows but just because he plays for bloody Arsenal doesn't mean he's any good.

Hmmm, considered response. I don't think we know for sure whether he can play well consistently in the Premier league, but when I have seen him, he looks decent. With regard to Arsene Wenger I personally think he has achieved a great deal and he's an excellent judge of a good footballer. Given that he maybe available for approximately 10 million, I think he would be a good signing. Obviously I could be wrong but we will probably never know:D

Feel free to enlighten me and show me where I've overinflated Perez's ability in any way in my comment? Don't worry, I'll wait. Just because you have no knowledge of a player doesn't mean nobody else has watched them play.

If you don't like reading people's opinions on players, I suggest maybe an Internet football forum is not a great place for you to spend so much time. Otherwise I'm afraid you're gonna have to get use to it or use that ignore button on the necessary people.

I also never said a word about his '****** record' until you brought it up in your post, so that's that point proved redundant. I'd also argue that plenty of Fringe players from any of the top 6 sides (including Arsenal) would get into our team/improve our squad, but that's a discussion for another day.

GD just out of interest, is there any player in the history of Arsenal that you think would be good enough to play for Watford ?

Good stat....I never realised he started off playing for that lot " down the other road "

Coming from the barren wastelands of "anywhere thats near Scotland" he must have had a culture shock down the Holloway Road

While he wasn't ever good enough to join the golden boys, I think Thierry Henry would have at least made the bench if we'd have taken a punt on him.

Deportivo have submitted a bid of 9 million for Perez, would be a steal at that price....
