Zulte Waregem have sent loanee Obbi Oulare (21) back to Watford. Only started in 1 cup game. Watford paid £6m for the striker in 2015.
I'm devastated to lose that £6m, it would have really come in handy at the moment as I need to fix my yacht. I mean, that money did come directly out of my bank account right? Otherwise why would I possibly give a ****?
Someone on Twitter has said "Obi Oulare surely worth a go?" I do sometimes wonder about these people - Oulare is ****ing awful. He can't even get a game in a **** Belgium team, so lets throw him into the EPL................ Unfortunately as a club we'll just have to write this one off (just like the many others) #pozzonetwork
Is he the signing they regret do we think..? you do wonder what next for him, loaned back to his native Belgium to play 1 game and sent packing on the face of it a bit of a disaster. A Championship loan if possible would seem the most realistic/sensible option.
I doubt he could cut it in the Champ right now. League one or below as a starting point and work his way up over a couple of years his best bet for English Football.
What a ****ing disaster this guy is, who the **** suggested buying this guy for £6m, who ever it was needs sacking
There is surely few more baffling transfers than this guy costing 6 million. How many times did they watch him? He still would not get into a single Championship team starting line up.
Problem is when he comes back after starting just one game and being on the bench for another game where would he go next?
**** decision to buy a player who can't last more than 20 mins on a football pitch. We've made some rubbish signings recently, but this one is the king of the castle.
Needs a season in the championship on loan and hope that he does a Tammy Abraham rather than a Steve leo beleck
Especially when Ikpeazu is tearing up League 2.... which, altho it is league 2... at least he's doing it.. unlike this waste of space... I was at that half against Newcastle, where he walked around for 40 mins getting yelled at by Deeney to move !!!
The £6m was a price worth paying just to witness his debut where he jumped to head the ball and missed it by about 40 feet. The entire crowd just stood there open mouthed.
Who was it in the Prem a few years back that signed a player who was completely useless? I mean, was really, really useless? Arsenal I think maybe? Basically subbed on for his debut, spent 10 minutes running around looking lost and was clearly out of his depth, and was subbed back off I think almost immediately, never to play for them again?
Southampton with Graham Souness as manager. Ali Dia was the player. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Dia Taken from the Wiki page... In November 1996, Dia convinced then-manager of Southampton, Graeme Souness, that he was the cousin of FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or winner George Weah, which led to him signing a one-month contract with Southampton days later. Dia played only one match in his short spell at the club. He came on as a substitute in a league game, but was then himself substituted. He was subsequently released, 14 days into his contract. After a playing career at the lower levels in France and Germany, and having already failed trials at Port Vale,Gillingham and Bournemouth, Dia joined non-league club Blyth Spartans, where he made only one substitute appearance – on 9 November 1996 in a Northern Premier League game against Boston United. Days later, Dia was signed by Southampton manager Graeme Souness, after Souness received a phone call purporting to be from Liberian internationaland former FIFA World Player of the Year, George Weah. "Weah" told Souness that Dia was his cousin, had played for Paris Saint-Germain, and had played 13 times for his country. None of this was actually true, and the phone call to Souness was made by a fellow university student of Dia's, suggesting that he should give Dia a chance with Southampton. Souness was convinced, and without any due diligence, Dia was signed on a one-month contract. Dia played just one game for Southampton, wearing the number 33 shirt, against Leeds United on 23 November 1996; he had originally been scheduled to play in a reserve team friendly against Arsenal, but the match was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. In the match against Leeds, he came on as a substitute for Matthew Le Tissier after 32 minutes, but was later substituted himself (for Ken Monkou) in the 85th minute; Leeds won the match 2–0. Le Tissier said: "He ran around the pitch like Bambi on ice; it was very embarrassing to watch." Dia was released by Southampton two weeks into his contract. He briefly played for non-league Gateshead, before leaving in February 1997. Dia only played eight games for the North East outfit, including scoring on his debut in a 5–0 win over Bath City.
