I've been over to some major tournaments in Europe where there's been no trouble at all with thousand upon thousands of England fans drinking all day. It's amazing what a little clever policing can do.

I tend to agree. The defence looked all over the shop for most of the game. Defensively Evra looked a weak spot all match. More negatives than positives if you were a France backer.

Does anyone else get annoyed by the officials behind the goal? WTF are they there for? Several times they are best placed to decide on a corner and they just do nothing? What are those long things they are holding as well?

Sick of reading in the media about 'thug' England fans

Yes there will be a minority who went looking for trouble, but as a whole they are being targeted by organised militia-esque Russian/Marseille firms armed with knives. They have every right to defend themselves

Yes!! I was just talking to my brother about that. The most pointless officials in sports. They do nothing. Skrtl blatantly elbowed Williams and the official behind the goal does nothing.

Henry Winter reporting that UEFA have told the FA that if there's further trouble before the other two group games England will be expelled. Seems to think it's more than a hollow threat.

Zero chance of that imo. Definitely hollow.

He is not anywhere near Payet in ability. Different type of player as well. Not made the progression he should have since he was at River. Wales sneak an undeserved win. Slovakia far better technically. Goalkeeping errors proving costly for Romania, Albania and Slovakia.

Credit to Wales - came under pressure and lost the lead but merited the win.

BBC Sport used to produce stirring montages and opening idents for international tournaments. Over the last few years they seem to have regressed in quality. Why someone thought it a good idea not to use the original version of La Foule sung by Edith Piaf and instead use some awful remixed effort beats me.

It's the part of the lino's flag that has the buzzer button and PTT for their radios so they can speak to the ref via the mic.

    Seems pretty ridiculous if true.

Another goalkeeping error. Akinfeev's positioning was poor.

    Poor marking at the corner.

Too easy to cross and get the header in..

Explosion during last minutes of game, eerily similar to last time.

Russia were awful. We were our own worst enemy. Russia had to push up, yet we didn't bring Vardy on to run into long balls / counter.

If Roy is going to bring on Wilshire and Milner in the hope that it will shore us up, then we aren't going to last long in this competition.

Do we know what that explosion-like noise was near the end of the game?

Agree the game was crying out for Vardy in the latter stages.

Russian fans rushing the England fans at the end of the game. Shocking crowd control.

We deserved to win but you're right - why on earth bring on Milner when you could bring on the pace of Vardy to stretch them further up the pitch? I just don't see what Milner brings to the team unless a few of our midfield get crocked and he is cover. He's so painfully average at this level.

Pace aside Sterling is so average. Shooting, passing, football intelligence. Has there ever been a player with a more over inflated transfer fee? I'd be surprised if he makes a small dent in the Man City team next year.

Yeah - I suppose he's a good guy to have in the squad for the month. But when he gets on the pitch?

Coaches revert to type when chasing a result. Uncle Woy probably wanted to shore up the midfield, keep hold of the ball and not stretch the game seeking a killer goal. It to be fair to Woy is the mindset of most coaches and usually comes off even though it does invite pressure. Imagine the headlines if Vardy is brought on for a midfielder, change formation and Russia equalize. He'd be crucified.

Get anywhere near the goal and we turn to ****. What does Kane add? His corners are complete **** and he stands offside for the rest of the game. Sterlin manages to trip over himself everytime he gets in the final third and Lallana can't get a shot on target.
