Of course it matters. If I randomly walk up to a commuter and shoot them in the head for my own amusement would you hold me in the same regard as the police who shot that civilian by mistake?

A few machine guns in Iraq = low threat
A few machine guns in the Stad De France - high threat.

In order for the Paris attacks to happen, there needed to be organisation, funding (one radical 28 year old alone does not get heavy ordnance into a French capital city unnoticed), the initial radicalisation of the perpetrators which is done by an organised and funded group, and there also needed to be the focus point of the Caliphate to hinge the whole thing together.

This was not four lions. This was not four or five disenchanted lads meeting above a grocers' shop and deciding to pull this all off themselves. This was organised by international terrorists with their support coming from IS.

Quick question for myself that someone may know the answer to

Why is it okay to just kill the likes of Osama Bin Laden and 'Jihadi John' without trial or without any form of arrest/questioning.

But paedophiles, mass murderers and every other sort of criminal gets a chance to go through court?

A plane-load of Syrian refugees will be landing into Glasgow any minute now. Anyone expressing concern about whether we have the capability to work out the identity of these people, or questioning whether we should let them in to the UK at all would, of course, be fiercely and unforgivably racist.

Yes indeedy. A wonderful excuse for the Xenophobes, Kippers and not-racist-but brigade to deny sanctuary to some desperate refugees.

Still, not all of the terrorist refugees are getting through Lloyd, you'll be glad to know.

An alleged paedophile/murderer may be innocent. Jihadi John took delight in filming his executions and putting them on the internet. 100% guilty and with no prospect of submitting himself to court. If a domestic freak boards himself up in a school and starts shooting kids in broad daylight he'll be leaving in a coffin as well if he won't surrender.

No, it was just something that interested me as I was thinking.

Not every post has to be a life saving post on how we're going to take down ISIS lol

What do you suppose would have happened if OBL or 'Jihadi John' had turned up at Heathrow one day off a plane from wherever?

So there are no lines or degrees of difference in killing? Are the US as bad as the Nazis?

Clive - I find your implication that I - or anyone else that has doubts over the Government's ability to properly vet the background of incomers from Syria - would take pleasure in the image of a drowned child deeply insulting, but I thank you for proving my original point so effortlessly

I am starting to wonder where your sympathies really are.

Maybe your total denial about other aspects are making a bit of sense now.

I would ask why some people think it's OK to kill in the name of a make believe person who never actually existed.

Why does it interest you? Are you worried about their rights? Are you worried that Osama Bin Laden and Jihadi John might have been hard done by?

What actually was the point of the question?

I'm not stirring, but I was one of your family, I'd be wondering whether you may be jumping on a plane to Syria soon.

If you have a season ticket, can I buy it off you? (or is that pushing it a bit).

Don't you see the difference between a domestic criminal who can be apprehended by the police and tried under our system and someone in a foreign land, surrounded by armed henchmen or lackeys and who probably won't say "I'll come quietly, it's a fair cop guv."

Because a cynic might think that you were being deliberately obtuse.

Do you think they should have shot Leon Brittan because Tom Watson heard something from a labour activist?

    Lol how dare you.

Ironically you don't even have a season ticket.

Yes, because we can arrest them. We could not with Emwazi and it was reasonable to stop him, but we should all be concerned about where militarisation takes us. Every step of it.

Jumbo has asked why Clive can't see the difference between terrorism and warfare, but this fades to near equivalence when we carpet bomb. The allied bombing campaign in Iraq was grotesque and we can't repeat it. The solution has to be local liberation such as by the Peshmerga. The Kurds lived in Raqqa. Let them drive IS out, which is what our policy has been. We don't need to harden to further vengefulness or full scale boots on the ground.

    Fair point, makes sense.

Bin Laden's death never made sense to me that's all, I would've paraded his dead body and had a celebration, I didn't get the sea burial at all.

But yes, good point, better answer than 'are you off to Syria?'

Oh yes, the 'whoops' theory of moral responsibility applied to cluster bombs and napalm.

What would be to gain by parading his body? At least this way there is no fixed location of his burial site.

The sea burial was so that there was no grave for extremists to rally around, and they didn't want to p*ss off actual Muslims by not burying him immediately.

He didn't become a martyr, his body wasn't shown as a symbol of western barbarism, he just disappeared into an endless ocean.

For anyone wondering why those nasty men from the middle east don't like us, here is a sample of our past foreign policy that might help explain it.

This same discussion is being repeated everywhere. The fact is, Islamists, on the up, are never going to stop being Islamists. The West will never stop holding their western values. Nobody is going to surrender. All that is available to sort it out is the Holy War. Jihad it is then...I'm in.

There are many reasons why they don’t like us.

However, this does not explain why the brunt of their aggression is against other Muslims.

They hide amongst schools to protect themselves from airstrikes, and they use children to murder to blood the next line of psychopathic recruits. They graphically murder innocents and post it alongside videos of drone strikes which have accidentally killed children (when seconds earlier rocket launchers were attracting attention by firing out of windows), to persuade the most ‘mentally persuadable’ that this is what ‘we’ deserve and more.

This is not a cultural or religious phenomenon, in that the majority have not joined IS. The majority have fled, irrelevant of their ideas of Western oppression. It is a cult of the most ruthless, which attracts the most troubled/ vulnerable members of society.

IS will kill anybody, Muslim or not, foreign or not, to achieve their political goals: to have power, to control the vulnerable and to create the ‘world’ in their evil and twisted image.

I think it is pretty clear how you spend your life. Scanning the internet for pro ISIS, anti Western, propaganda and spreading it far and wide.

If you could spend as much time spreading anti ISIS progaganda, I'd feel much more comfortable. We need young Muslims help to end this crap.
