I'd say Sherwood is the worst manager in the league. Apart from Mourinho obviously.

When we look back in 5 years it will be one of the great premier league mysteries why Sherwood landed two plum jobs and was courted by a couple of other teams. A man hopelessly out of depth with no track record.

Bob Bradley seems to be the favourite for the Sunderland job.

The USA link there with the owner.

If they get him, I can't see anything but relegation for them. Granted he did relatively well with USA but did very little compared to what Klinsmann has done with them. Did nothing with Egypt and is currently managing some Norwegian team which he got to second in their league currently.

He also has the look of a man who I would imagine is very uninspiring and dull.

Should fit in just nicely in a place like Sunderland then.

Sunderland have approached Pearson for the job. He's mad but is he mad enough?

Any "person" would be mad to go for the Sunderland job, unless the allure of a massive stadium is justification enough for wanting to manage such a club.

Allardyce has reportedly agreed to join Sunderland. Hmmm, annoying.

Failed badly in his other NE job, maybe he will in this one too.

Annoying maybe, for us, but predictable in some ways - no team in the PL is going to go down without a fight - and he's an obvious choice and they have big support. It will be interesting to see what happens at Newcastle (particularly as S'Land rivals) and Aston Villa. That last match of the season might be very important. I hope it will not be, but who knows ...

The entire area is a hole. There's plenty more where that came from

Tim Krul out for the season. Doesn't get any better for Newcastle!

Krul out for the rest of the season and Darlow has a foot injury, so Newcastle's current first choice keeper is Rob Elliot.

    Lol.

Funny stuff but with a week until their next games odds are the PL will allow them to sign an experienced goalkeeper outside of the transfer window.

They should be made to use a young kid from the Youth team..

Well that is what Greg Dyke would say.

If Almunia had to play with about 10 injections in his hamstring against Leicester in the play offs with Bond in a protective mask just a few days after that incident, they can play a keeper who's played in the Premier League before.

We could have loaned them Gilmartin if they were allowed.

I believe they can still sign a free agent but not sure how many decent keepers are out there that would fit that bill?

If their squad situation allows. Do they have any HG or non-HG slots left?

Big Sam didn't fail at Newcastle, he was driven out by their idiot fans who think that only a Geordie can run their massive club (John Carver, for example). It fell apart when Sam left. As it did at Bolton. And Blackburn.

He's rather good at getting clubs to punch above their weight. Which is a shame.

According to the PL website, they registered 25 players (not including U21s) - so that would mean they can't add to that until January?

Think Newcastle really could be one of the teams to go down. There is massive issues at that football club as we saw when we played up there. Losing Krul is massive for them, unless they get someone like Valdes who is doing nothing at United they arent going to be replacing like for like.

Sunderland have given themselves a chance of being in another relegation fight next year, if you see what i mean. Each year it is the same they start badly sack the manager and stay up just. With big Sam dont see this season being any different for them.

Villa I also think will go down. been round the bottom for to many seasons, keep selling good players. Never really like Tim Sherwood and these days shouting and screaming at players doesnt work.

Norwich and Muff are in a similar position to us, good solid starts and will be pleased. I do think though at least one of us will go down. with the injuries I would say Muff but a few good/bad results could change that.

As for us, we have a tricky run of games coming up. if we can get 4 points from the next 4 games I will be happy.

either way it will be close and i think we will just about have enough...just

The fans never took to him but poor results and poor football was the reason they parted company. I'd call that a failure.
