I've been critical of Jurado but thought he was great yesterday - still prefer someone else to come in this month or over the Summer but for now it looks like he could be useful.
Talk about damning with faint praise! I reckon he's been very good indeed the last couple of matches - the sort of skill and talent I love to see in a Watford shirt. That drag back he did in the centre circle to leave Toure for dead set the tone.
Yea I agree I thought he was superb yesterday, I thought he was rubbish in some games at the start of the season but seems a lot sharper and moved the ball more quickly when needed yesterday as well as keeping the ball and slowing it down when required. Very impressive I thought.
Played well yesterday and should probably have stayed on. Just wish that when a he cuts inside he should try shooting. We don't see enough shots except from Capoue and Abdi and let's be honest they are rarely on target.
I think by the end of this season, the majority of Watford supporters will recognise Jurado as the real deal. By the end of next season Jurado will be a true Watford legend. Jon Marksmy word
I thought he played more like David Silva than David Silva, if you see what I mean. He was a joy to watch & our midfield as a unit is as good now as I can ever remember. Any incoming midfielder is going to have to be pretty special to win the shirt from one of them.
Even with Jurado's and Abdi's ability on the ball we could still do with a pacy option on the other wing who can run in behind or keep the width.
True but who do you drop without losing all the great things these players are already doing? That's why they need to be pretty special. They need to do all the stuff Abdi or Jurado currently bring to the table....and more.
Well I personally think Jurado is better than Almen, only just though and as he gets tired after about 70 mins Abdi could come on for him. I think we'd be a lot more dangerous with a clever player drifting inside and linking up the play and someone on the other wing who is direct and is more of a goal threat. Such as Townsend.
Andros Townsend with his 14 career goals you mean? Of which 5 have come in the PL? Wow, what a threat!
I miss Abdi cutting in from the left and curling one into the top corner but Quique obviously doesn't want him and Jose swapping over.
Err ok. You seem a bit touchy... How am I being a pr1ck by pointing that out? It was you who called him a 'goal threat', not me. I just looked up the stats. Someone else mentioned the 'old Townsend' earlier and I queried what that meant too but answer came there none. I suspect because it refers to a short-lived purple patch of form which seems to have stuck in the collective memory. In fact after a succession of loans to Championship clubs and then a half season at Premier League QPR he has made about a season's worth of appearances over two years at Spurs and done little of note. Can't hold down a first team place. Few assists and even fewer goals at PL level. Attitude problems all over the shop. And some goals against Europa League and international no marks. I'm sure the club are interested, yes.
Jurado seems to be adapting very well now, I was probably to quick to judge considering he has been playing in Russia which im sure is hugely different to English football. This gives me even more confidence in QSF who im sure had a big say in him signing and persevered with him in the confidence that he would adapt. I for one had my doubts so well done QSF.
I've been a fan of his from the start and I actually think there is more to come too. Some of his skill moves are just fantastic though. I was watching the match with a mate on Saturday and a ball was played high in the air to him and I even said to my mate to watch his touch and it didn't disappoint, the guy oozes class and is slowly showing us how good he is.
Decent player too lightweight at times. Don't think he deserves an automatic place in the starting 11 though.
Now the players are comfortable with the system they now know when they can come out of it which is why we are seeing AA and JJ coming in field where they both look more dangerous . It's going to have to be a very good player to displace either of those from the team. NB deliberate use of initials as a wind up
That's possibly the best analysis of a Watford player I've ever read, great stuff. To those who still strangely contend that Jurado doesn't deserve an automatic place in the starting line-up - who would you have to swap/rotate places with him in his position? Anya? (Not that he hasn't been useful, but it's pretty obvious now to all but the most bloody-minded of JMJ's critics which of the two offers more to the team.) And great and versatile those two have been, I'm not sure collectively Ake and Holebas would offer enough offensively on the left side over 90 minutes. Putting Abdi on the left and Paredes in his place? Er no thanks...
