Wolves leaflet response

One of the posters on the Wolves fans' site has given this insight in to how some of their fans responded to the leaflets that were handed out prior to the game with Sheffield Weds at Molineux asking for anyone who may have information re the Nic Cruwys assault to come forward.

"while the huge majority of Wolves fans approached were more than willing to take one of our leaflets, I am extremely sad and shocked to say that quite a number refused point blank to take one. One obnoxious individual looked at the leaflet thrust it back at me saying, "!!!!! him, he's a !!!!!!!! hooligan". This is what the Police are up against."

    Nice people.

That's revolting. Simply creating their own narrative. Such ignorance.

Why are people so surprised? They have a minority of animals in their fan base which most people knew of long before the horrible incident which happened after our game with them. One guy being nearly beaten to death isn't gonna change any of the thinking from this scum. I also saw reports that one of the Derby fans coaches was bricked after their recent encounter. Unfortunately Wolves don't have a small minority of thugs/idiots they have a very large minority who will continue to carry out mindless thuggery until they're caught and locked up!!

A mate of mine is a Wolves fan and went to the Derby game last week. He said the talk in the pubs was Nic was a hooligan, the group deserved it etc. He said he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

No offence to Nic but just by looking at him you can clearly see he is too soft to be a football hooligan.

Even if the little ****s that did it admit that they kicked in someone minding his own business, you wonder if some Wolves fans will still persist with this denial / ignorance.

Such is their blinkered view of the world, I wouldn't be surprised.

I do hope there is only a tiny minority with this view.

However 50% of people I deal with during the working hours are saps so I'm not holding out much hope!

Apparently this story of Nic being a 'well known hooligan' was on one or more of the Wolves forums soon after the incident. Even my Wolves mate phoned me to tell me this. I put him right.

Trouble is people see it, believe it and repeat it as fact.

Wolves Forum mods should have nipped that in the bud, and many believe what they want to believe no matter how many times they are told the facts.

One of the mods there actually supported the story despite being asked to remove it as it was unsubstantiated (and as we all know a load of codswallop) by members of the forum there. If you repeat a lie long enough then it becomes the truth particularly those with a limited intelligence as quite a few of these odious oiks have displayed.

Libel action should be taken against the wolves sites, I wonder how quick they would shut these rumours down if legal action was threatened; a full apology should be demanded as well.

Actually I think this all just goes to show that a percentage of the human race is not all that bright & will believe anything.

This should be merged into the Nic Cruwys thread. Also Smudger (or whoever it was that said that the rumours of him being a hooligan began on the forums immediately after the incident) is a little bit wrong. I'm not sure how the video has not made it onto here (but that in itself is telling of the authenticity of the video) but when the CCTV still images came out, apparently the video itself was "leaked" onto a couple of Wolves-related Facebook groups showing Nic making the first move on these kids. When I tried to see it for myself (by attempting to join one of these groups), surprise surprise it was taken away. This video (and the rumours that apparently he was texting and calling these kids) is "proof" that he is a hooligan.

Somehow, I just don't see it myself. I just don't see how any of these numbskulls were able to get a leaked copy of the CCTV video from the Police in the first place. Secondly, as much as I know little about hooliganism, I know enough to know that no adult hooligan is going to fight a load of kids, no matter if they belong to a firm themselves. Likewise I doubt very much that he would be texting kids to meet up for fights. Wolves is a place full of knuckle-draggers (just like Watford tbf), I'm sure he would've been able to find an adult Wolves hooligan with no trouble. Lastly, and it really doesn't need to be said, Nic is not a hooligan.

All that may happen but only after the court case regarding the attack. Whatever activities we have seen on molineuxmix and wolves facebook pages over the period since the attack on Nic, the police will have seen too and will have kept a record of.

I don't think this thread should be merged with the other one. That is a thread in support of Nic's quest to get well again. This is something different.

What was suggested on molineuxmix very early on (well prior to the video becoming available) was that Nic's brother was a 'well known hooligan'. There was no evidence to support that claim. Then they started on about stuff concerning Man City and Millwall on Nic's facebook page.

I haven't seen this latest stuff about text messages. All I really hope on that front is that it isn't true and simply a stupid rumour. Everything else is speculation.

I think that any action taken against some of the appalling comments on the Molineuxmix site would be a civil matter and down to the Cruwys family to pursue. But that's just my opinion and is not based on any knowledge of the libels laws. Does anyone have any experience they can share?

That is true I think. What I meant regarding the police having the evidence was that they could make that available to the Cruwys family if the family decided to pursue it.

A Derby fan on a general fans forum asked a steward about the incident and was told "well it wasn't totally unprovoked and there was trouble before it"

Only an action by his family would likely succeed and I suspect that they have other priorities right now.

Totally agree with Kelso on this. I think it would be distasteful to merge this with a thread concerned with wishing Nic well & keeping up to date on his (hoped for) recovery and progress.

Like Kelso, I have only seen references to Nic's brother and Nic's Facebook page on Wolves forums. My own view is that I wouldn't have thought the police statements would be so keen to emphasise the unprovoked nature of the attack were there any doubt about events leading up to it. I have zero knowledge of how the police handle stuff like this, but had presumed that they did this precisely to quash other versions of the incident doing the rounds.

The comments are still there despite being categorically untrue and the decent Wolverhampton fans even questioned him about the libellous nature of the words posted. That same evening while Nick was fighting for his life a certain small section were confidently talking about it as a hooligan related incident.
