Did he take any throw ins? I am still keeping up with 'caps. Not quite sure how they are still staying up the top of the league as the second best side overall. Is it just the performance of the keeper? The rest of the team don't look too great on paper.
I dismissed this all along but it appears to be legitimate. Galaxy look like they will add Giovanni Dos Santos. It looks like they aren't kidding about this "Core Player" stuff. Gerard bought me beer. It's true. I drank some myself. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ar-makes-positive-start-buying-beer-fans.html
Yet another rout for you, Fitz. On the day after the holiest day of the American calendar, to boot. And against those Red Coats! TFC were awful, but the Galazy have a stupendous front-line.
Good question. I can tell you there were approximately 150 twelve oz. bottles to start, and about 10 when I went in about 20 minutes before kickoff. That was on top of all the beer everyone brought and a keg donated by a local brewery. I had one of Gerrard's beers out of principle. It was a Lagunitas Pils, for the record.
Women's World Cup Final was the most watched soccer game in American history. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/07/s...hed-soccer-game-in-united-states-history.html
There was an irritating guy on Twitter comparing the attendance of yesterday's final and the 6A HS championship game, which was better attended. I assume he was trying to prove that soccer doesn't matter here. I took great joy in sending him these figures. There's been an awful lot of that amongst TX people. I think they're getting scared.
http://www.brotherlygame.com/2015/7/7/8906051/freddy-adu-leaves-finland-after-eight-games Freddy Adu update. I think he is now just trying to see how many leagues he can play it.
Poor guy. I like him... I wish he wasn't such an unambitious manbaby. I trust Bruce Arena and if Bruce the penny pinching thrifty bargain hunter extraordinaire doesn't think he can make something, anything, of him, then it can't be done.
http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2015...blic-fc-favorite-for-premier-league-position/ Preki manager of the Foxes... what is happening?
Preki is, well, pri cky, but he did a good job showing the Sac Rep to be tough competitors, along with occasionally crossing the line on physical play. No idea if any of that will translate to Leicester... Looks like it is Wednesday in some capacity instead... http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/former-everton-midfielder-set-for-sheffield-wednesday-role/ He really doesn't have the chops for anything but an assistant's role.
How long till the obligatory " American discrimination, Preki with a premier league/champsionship job, but not Bob Bradly" by some pundit?
He's a nobody. He needs to actually do something, earn a reputation as a manager, before anyone really cares. His teams are blunt instruments prone to violence because they can't win any other way. I can't see that style being appreciated abroad, as it was only tolerated out of ignorance here.
This is more disappointment than anything else. My family lives in Sacramento and I've seen them play quite a few times. Their whole MO is to hurt the other team. I say that with some sadness, because I wanted my hometown to have a team to be proud of, and instead they were embarrassing. I'm glad Preki is gone, to be honest. What will make me sad is if Preki's replacement doesn't succeed as much simply because he plays a fairer game...
Stupid summer friendly tournaments... Anyway, we got this out of the Club America friendly last night: Keane making the Mexican champs look like the keystone cops. [yt]rjvuxA5gXg4[/yt]
There isn't a Gold Cup thread, so forgive my meandering but Miguel Herrera has had to eat his words - I believe he said Layún would be disadvantaged by moving to Watford. Being the football hipster / sad-act that I am I'm currently watching the Mexico vs. Cuba game and Layún seems to be doing fine to me, Mr. Herrera. Also, in my humble opinion Glenn Davis and Alexei Lalas on Fox are the absolute best in the USA. It is so nice to hear calm, informed voices - as opposed to some of those who commentate on the MLS matches.
Yeah the local MLS guys are terrible. The worst of the bunch is Taylor Twellman, who will go on a concussion protocol lecture circuit anytime someone bumps a noggin. It wa cool the first 80-90 times, but now I want to use a blunt object to give him another concussion myself. About Mexico v Cuba, don't read too much into that match. The night before, 7 Cuba players defected effectively gutting the team and gameplay for them. They were never going to go far, but the defections ruined the tournament for them. Mexico is the sort of team that when they can humiliate a team, they will. Meanwhile, if they lose a close one, it is always because the opponent wouldn't play the game right, or some nonsense.
Yeah I realised after I posted that "it's only Cuba", but he still looked very assured. It is just wrong to see soccerball in Soldier Field. Not long now 'til the Bears get the NFC North trophy back!
Just like the city of Chicago itself, Hope Springs Eternal. You probably missed the five or so years the Chicago Fire played all their games there at Soldier Field? By the way, it is official: Giovanni Dos Santos is a Galaxy player, to begin playing as soon as the CONCACAF Gold Cup concludes for Mexico (which may be pretty soon...). Fun fact: Gio Dos Santos translates to 'Johnny Two Saints' in English
You just never know with CONCACAF. Cuba gets out scored 0-8 in their first two games and suffers multiple defections before beating Guatemala. That is good enough for third place in the group which allows them to advance to knockout round and face USA. Anything could happen...
Absolutely incredible match between Trinidad and Tobago vs Mexico... Kenwyne Jones was amazing! T&T 4-4 Mexico Perhaps the most entertaining Gold Cup match ever.
that was a beat down. After games like this I wish Bradley had stayed In Europe just to see what he could have done over there.
Yeah, USA was firing on all cylinders, but...it was just Cuba. And Mexico a worse one...Costa Rica, too. Rough.
So this appears to be happening: Chicago and Montreal competing to sign 37 year old Didier Drogba. http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/...tling-with-chicago-fire-to-sign-didier-drogba A little like Robbie Keane, his attacking style will be unstoppable in MLS, even at his ripe old age. Makes me feel better about the G's getting mid 20's Gio Dos Santos, too.
