I just played FIFA 4,3,3 with Fessi, Vydra & Deeney...beat Chelsea 3-0...so must be a good thing.

    We're gonna P!ss this league

Why were you playing against a Premier League team on FIFA?

Is playing against championship teams not 'good enough' for you?

The big difference is that the owners, manager and Deeney haven't been in the Premiership, whereas the fans and Vydra have, and both have been relegated after a crap season. The fan's hurt was tempered by the knowledge that we weren't good enough to compete at that level, but Vydra obviously is good enough (given a fair chance, which he wasn't at WBA), and this must seem like an enforced gap-year and a complete waste of time.

How could you possibly know if he's good enough for the Premier League?? The fact that he couldn't get off the bench for most of the season in a poor West Brom team suggests otherwise. I don't care if he played up front by himself, he didn't take his chance so now he's accepted he has to build his reputation up again. He looks happy to be here, just enjoy it ffs.

I'm not sure you get how a footballer builds their career, Molly. He's much better off spending a year in the Champ with us & getting promoted, than going to Burnley for a year & getting relegated.

The 'interview' looks like a guy who's slightly uncomfortable in front of the Camera, who might be slightly embarrassed! Who looks absolutely delighted to see his mates and people he knows and very hungry to get started!

Vydra appeared to have two options; Watford, or Udinese.

    He chose us.

If players are choosing us over teams like Udinese then boy am I happy with that!

Will I boo him? No. We need him on form.

Why everybody is pretending to know whether or not he wants to be here is beyond me, but I suppose we have to chunter on about something the whole summer. None of us can properly know whether he wants to be here or not. I'm just glad one of the most entertaining and exciting players I've ever seen play in the flesh will be playing for us in the coming season. As to comments about us still needing a couple of players to get promoted, such as a commanding defensive midfielder, I agree that it is something that we have missed, and it seems we are trying to find one, but we almost managed to get promoted under Zola with the Deeney-Vydra combo ably backed up by Forestieri (what a backup to have), with Chalobah as our 'defensive' midfielder. Chalobah is many things, but commanding or defensive aren't any of them. I agree that a Eustace-type midfielder was missed last season until Toszer, and will be delighted if we sign him, but my point is that we have much of the backbone of a team that was a hair's breadth from promotion, with a much better all-round squad, given that instead of Neuton, Mujangi Bia and Beleck, we have Cathcart, Dyer and Ranegie, and so I think we already have a squad that can challenge. If more steel, such as Toszer, were added, then our chances are even better. The task is going to be to get the players to gel as well as Zola did, and that'll decide how good the season is. But the signing of Vydra is a big statement of intent, and I think even with the squad as it is, if anywhere near the best can be got out of the squad, we can expect a pretty exciting season. Not meaning to get carried away, of course.

Has anybody actually spoken to Vydra face to face. No. So nobody will know whether he wanted to come back or not. All we can go on is how he appears to be at training or in just over a month, how he players in a match. My guess is, he wanted to play in the PL but there wasn't much interest so therefore he chose a side where he knows the players and has been successful. If he was happy playing in The Championship without expressing a desire to play at a higher level there would be no point in signing him or any other player with that attitude when we, as a club, want to ply are trade at the highest level.
I could not be happier he's back as he is a piece of the jigsaw we were missing last year.

If Vydra had a choice of two teams they would have been Watford or Granada. Udinese didn't want him last year after a season in which he showed his enormous potential, so why would they want him after this latest season, where he at best was pretty ordinary (for the prem)? Ude may want him to prove himself, but clearly not at the Friuli.

I think, as will most, that he would prefer to be somewhere else, as he has undeniably said and repeated such. That is OK though, unless he does what he did last time he was here. He must, for the good of his own career, act professionally and apply his skills to the best of his ability whatever he feels bout being here. I think it's a risk for us, but I will be behind him 100 o/o unless he doesn't put in the effort. I would also say that any player that does not put it in for the club should accept booing from paying fans, and that such a reaction from the stands should act as a reminder of why they are getting paid so much money.

If he doesn't work out, I reckon some of his most avid fans on here could become his greatest critics, because they will be the ones who will feel most let down. I and many others have low expectations of him but high hopes, so to us he will be just another player that could work out good or bad, and like any other player, I'll be right behind him.

Footballers aren't always the sharpest crayons in the box, but I'm sure Vydra understands that putting in resentful couldn't care less performances would be professional suicide.

Surely the fact this was sorted out so early in pre-season indicates that it's a move he's happy with. He could easily have dug his heels in to see if any other offers came his way!
As has already been said it's a move that all parties are happy with!

After reading some of these posts I also have low expectations but high hopes that our fans will be fully behind our players.

...but I want you know that I'll be behind you all the way that you've got my backing, 100%. I'm sure you'll be relieved to hear that, just as Vydra will be when he reads your post.

You have to admire how the conversation has switched from "he'll never come back to Watford, dream on" to "he doesn't want to be here" to "he's come to us but I have very low expectations".

I swear he must have been doing the horizontal waltz with the significant other of certain parties on this board.

Are there any actual interviews with vydra where he says anything about his preferential footballi team(s) to play for. Or does everyone on here base their opinions on the creative licenses of our countries artistic journalists?

I asked Vydra on Twitter if he was happy to be back, he said "thank god I'm only back at this cesspit for one year, now go **** yourself. And that goes for all you happy clapping yellow wearing ****s". Read into that what you will.

I've seen precisely one actual interview with Vydra (Google translated at that), and even then he was complimentary about the club.

People seem to be conflating an ambition to play as high as possible with lack of interest in playing for us, when in truth they're not the same thing. I have very high ambitions for my own career but that doesn't mean I'm unhappy where I currently am. The difference between my career than that of a footballer is I have around 45+ years to accomplish my goals, whereas a footballer has about 15 at best (and those years are very front loaded by comparison to most other careers).

The boy is young and ambitious. Perhaps he made a mistake but FFS, remember how old he is. I made my fair share of mistakes at 19/20.

He he he. It's the besotted schoolgirls again.

Totally unreasonable that fans might hope he will be professional, because we shouldn't expect such from a well paid, er, professional.

Totally stupid to let him know that what he did last time was unacceptable, or he might think we don't love him.

If he doesn't work out, or if he plays up at all, it will be you guys that slaughter him first, it will be you guys that deride him the most because you are the ones that will feel it the worst. Spurned lovers have ever acted thus. That is the way it goes. I, as I always said, will get behind him now he is back, he is a Watford player, and I always get behind our players unless they give me reason not to. I will have no more expectation of him, lower or higher, than any other player, but I forget that you guys demand everything be spelled out for you, though the rubbish you spout needs nothing but its typing.

All the things you deny have been reposted for you many times before, all the questions you have asked have been answered many times before, and although you have all read his words, a day later you ask if he really said it. That is on record.

I hope he works out, I really do; if he achieved his potential at this club, I'd be delighted. And though right now it would be ridiculous to say he doesn't want to be here now, it would be even more ridiculous to say that he wouldn't rather be somewhere else if someone would take him. So I'd say that particular point that I have been making seems entirely justified. As is the hope that he is professional enough not to let it effect his game, which was not the case before.

Reality check? Deeney £8m at least, Vydra maybe £3m at best. Who'd a thunk it eh? The difference? Positive, realistic attitude. And a little loyalty.

Guess you're probably thinking blah blah blah, agent ruined his career, poor innocent nevva sed nuffink, not a man, an angel. Probably best if you save your embarrassment by not replying. Refer to previous posts for answers to your ludicrous arguments.

Going back to the allotment now. And I Agree that it would be much better if I left you you all alone now.

EltonHorn is just doing what is known as a 'no risk moan'.

Basically, if he's right, he can say 'I told you so'. If he's wrong, we will be so wrapped up marvelling in our own magnificence, that we won't remember what he said.

A lot of people do this. Mainly old folk in the pub. They are quite negative people.
