Hmm not really, it's undeniable that he had a horrendous summer recruiting last year. This summer has been fantastic and he deserves full credit for that. He can't be blamed if we fall short this year.

I see on the Leicester Forums and on Twitter the same bunch of fans saying things like "they're mugs for rejecting our bid". I mean, have we done something wrong? Maybe Leicester are butthurt; actually they must be, seeing as a load of them are saying that he's only worth £5million.

Strange lot they are! They are most probably hurt that with the season kicking off today, they have the same, if not a slightly weaker squad with a few out through injury that they had last season! And with the window running out soon, and no loan window after that, it could be a very long start to they're season! A lot of them are probably feeling stupid because they were saying that it was 'only a matter of time till he's wearing a leicester shirt' or 'it's a done deal'! It is incredibly funny reading tho!! Strange how now he's staying in a Watford shirt (which I could not be happier with, actually let out a massive yes when I read it) they seem to believe he will have a broken leg or horrendous injury just because they haven't signed him!

By the way, who else would now fancy a few quid on a Deeney hatrick today now? He must be feeling pretty confident knowing the club value him that much!!

Awww. This photo will cheer them up and I believe accurately reflects the feelings of all parties on the end of this protracted saga.

How dare we turn down a bid from the best team in Leicester??

Who do we think we are? :dismay:

Why sell if we don't need to and Deeney wants to stay.

He is our best striker and a home grown player - be quite a hassle to replace.

1season we don't get promoted and deeney doesn't score 20 goals his value plummets big time

Sky Sports reckon Leicester in fact haven't had a 3rd bid rejected. Interesting.

I trust Frank Smith more than some sky journalist.

According to his Twitter, his views on there are his own and not Sky Sports.

So, a never-heard-of-him journo believes that Lesta haven't had a bid rejected.

I agree, but I'm not sure what he gets out of making it up. It must have come from somewhere and I imagine he's got some decent sources, working for Sky Sports.

It's win/win this. We either get a shed load of money or we keep a 20+ goal striker. And we don't even need him according to some on here, happy days!

F@ck me! they guess something and if it sounds remotely plausible they print it as fact ... no wonder I will never ever subscribe to Sky

Seems odd. The Wobby AND Leicester journalists were reporting this morning that we'd rejected a bid and that we weren't going to sell him. I'd be far more inclined to believe the local journalists over sky. I think Deeney's reaction will be telling, he's normally not shy to rubbish/make light of any bull**** written about him.

This is how football works. Different parties leaking information to gain leverage, leading to contradictory reports.

Loads more of this to come.

Sounds like clubs want him but not at the price we are demanding and are feeding Sky this story via intermediaries.

I think you could probably check out Troy's Instagram if you wanted to know whether or not he was happy here.

Also worth noting that Frank Smith has repeatedly said he doesn't report rumours. He must be very confident in his source at Watford to report it in the paper.

Sky only saying it to protect the premiership brand - "tinpot second division side tells Super Sunday Predators to shove their £" doesn't work for them.

Oh and it's laughable that they think Nani is dealing with this. I don't care if he's technical director, I'd imagine anything to do with an asset like Deeney will be dealt with by Gino and Giampaolo.

Sounds like agent talk to Sky.

    Worrying if true.

This is all very strange. Sky are being very exact for 'making stuff up'.

Marks on 3CR said at least a couple of times if this was the last match we'd see Deeney play. I'm sure he was aware of the Wobby article so that seemed mightily odd to me too.

    Agree with that.

Often its the agents eager to move and make money rather than the player!

Frank Smith has posted on Twitter that basically he's seen the Sky's article, his source is the same as his previous accurate articles so he's confident in his own reporting. But that if Sky turn out to be right he'll hold his hands up.

I don't trust sky whatsoever but this is the first time it's been mentioned that the player is unhappy. If that is the case then he's as good as gone.

Also says that the Sky article makes very specific claims which makes him think they've been given info by someone.

I think Marks was just being sensible. aware that the transfer window still has two weeks to run and a crazy bid could still come in.

It's almost impossible for the player to remain completely happy during such a prolonged period of speculation.

I guess if Watford really wanted to test the players resolve, they could offer him a new improved contract - that should give them a clear indication (if they need it) as to whether Troy wants to stay or not.

If someone is ready to offer you shed loads of money and sort you out financially for a long time, you'd be mad not to listen - You could apply this to both the club and the player. I think the day the board accept an offer, we will see what Troy wants most.... Everyone has their price.

To date Troy has handled the situation perfectly, be strange to play up now.
