According to Wikipedia Vydra has a mouth elevation of 627m. Good for set pieces, especially corners. Sign it up.

Came off the bench and scored the equaliser for WBA today. Still, what a fool, he could be playing every week, scareing the pants off championship defenders whilst knocking them in for fun, for us. And Zola would probably still be with us.

I'm glad Matej scored and I hope he'll find more space from now on.
But I'm puzzled from what I read (http://www.wba.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=342714): Downing saying about him "He arrived at the club without a pre season and he's played a lot of catch up."

What the fu** he he saying? Vydra trained with Udinese, which had to begin preseason quite early for the EL qualifiers, and he played on August 8th against Siroki, only 4' at the end of the match and he SCORED.
So what? Some clueless managers trying to find miserable excuses towards the fans for not playing more than a few minutes so far a quite brilliant scorer?

To be fair Sherlock it's a pretty well known issue that players being touted around by agents during the summer transfer window spend more time on the road than the training pitch.

    It's also well known that:

    1. Players from Udinese don't come with a proper pre-season
    2. Players on loan from Udinese take 2-3 months to gel/click each season
    3. Players from Udinese have muscle imbalance.

Clearly not cut out for prem. needs to go to a mid table champ team for at least a season. One that plays in yellow, otters like yellow

I know I should keep up, but is MV on loan for the season at WBA? See he won the pen today for them, typically playing on the shoulder of the last defender and pointing for where he wanted the ball and then leaving the defender for dead and drawing the foul from the keeper. WBA would be mad to let him go, assuming the loan comes to an end, and even then you can see another Prem team coming in for him. West Ham were rumoured to have bid last summer, they must be kicking themselves given their position. Good luck to him. Would be pretty astonishing to see him back in a Watford shirt from the current position. Best we can hope for is a healthy sum being added to the coffers. What would be fair at this point? £10m, £15m or more or less?

The loan is for the full season till August, and I've read is also quite expensive for WBA (like 1-2M€).
It was reported on a newspaper that Udinese chose to loan to WBA, among several teams, asking because they were the only one accepting "simple" loan without any option to buy.
Giaretta (Udinese's sporting director) had said that contract is until 2018.

So: very young, proved good in English football even at the higher level, long contract, absolutely no need to sell early for cash problems ... I can imagine Pozzo waiting and sell him only for a "right" offer and I expect "right" being quite high.
But of course it all depends on how he'll do in second half of season. Certainly on twitter I see more and more WBA fans asking for him and Berahino to be in starting 11, as they often changed things when (too rarely) entered from the bench. So we can expect probably to see him play more in the future and hopefully do well.

For sure, but it all goes into the "pot" as it were. We are likely to benefit indirectly. I agree with Sherlock, much depends upon second half of the season, and he is certainly coming more into focus with the Baggies supporters.
In one sense a pity for us WFC supporters but in Pozzovision actually another good bit of business, his stock and value increases and the contract remains in place without a call option to sell. I guess the only prospect of us seeing him play for us again is if we make it to the Prem without him. So on that basis, time to move on.

Interesting that there's not been a denial in the Wobby about Vydra's rumoured return. Given the way the Pozzos operate, if there were not truth in it, they'd have issued a statement by now for sure.

Bearing in mind he was subbed at half time in the last WBA, you'd have to think he'll be lucky to see any more game time this season.

    Back here next year?

You could tell that was a tactical sub last week. He wanted a player with more Physical presence to be up there.
To me what will will really take off Vydras game at WBA is the removal of Anelka, i just don't see those two playing well together, nothing like the partnership between Deeney and himself last year.
However WBA are not going to make a team around a loan player.

They play one striker upfront I think, so when he does play he's not usually that one man, he'll be one of the two flanking on either side.

Nah. The Pozzos tactics are to keep shtum. They never talk about a player they aren't signing for Watford until they don't sign him permanantly. They don't want to let on in case other teams decide, given the Pozzos disinterest, that they don't want to sign him either. Very canny tacticians the Pozzos.

Pepe Mel interested in Thievy Bifouma. Does this leave Vydra out in the cold even more? (Not specifically linked to us, just discussion)
