Exactly. The problem is in Italy there are too many "foxes" around for sell-on-clauses to work.
If we put such a clause on a player sold to team A for, say, 10M ... if they will sell him for a total transfer fee of 20M to team B, they'll make sure it's 10M transfer fee for the player and 10M for team B buying an U18 from their youth team. So they are sure there's no money to give.

Quite unethically, I'm afraid we were accomplices in a similar deal. When we sold Benatia to Roma for 12.5M: it was 10M cash and 1M for 50% of Lopez and 1.5M for 50% of Verre.
Lopez was quite obviously the most promising one and quite more valuable than Verre, but Roma had a sell-on-clause with the South-American team from which they had bought Lopez for 2M!

I believe that's regulated in England to prevent such blatant manipulation.

Once Javi Marquez had signed we are about to close Rochina (Blackburn) & Juan Carlos (Betis).

What happened to Granada News thread?

Just read that Rodrigo de Paul of Racing Club was in advanced talks to join Udinese. However Valencia through Roberto Ayala managed to get him to change to Valencia. Very exciting talent.

Alexander Merkel on loan to Grasshopper Zurich (Switzerland).

As they arrived second in their league, he might have a chance to play in Champions League if maybe they win the Qualifying Rounds.

All officially confirmed the new or renewed loans of:
Faraoni from Watford. Bubnji*, Heurtaux, Wague, Widmer from Granada.

Why can't we buy our own players?
Are we just a nursery for the cousins?
    Losing our identity!
I'm sure Gollum and Samuels might have something to say about all these loans.
All that's wrong in modern football!
    Pozzo OUT!!!
    :naughty:

I see Brahimi has joined Porto for about £5 mil - what do you guys think about that?? Had a fairly impressive world cup, was his contract running down??

  13. sherlock

    sherlock Tippytappy footy expert

Sounds like a low fee yes. I had read of about 8.5M euro.
But i read now Rennes (former club) had a sell-on clause for 30%.

So maybe to keep lower the money for Rennes they agreed instead with Porto for some performance bonuses (not included in transfer fee probably, so not subjected to Rennes' sell-on clause) or sell-on clause for Granada.

Certainly in England any extras added to a deal payable to the selling club are also caught by a sell-on clause.

I heard about £5.5 mil which is about 7m euro so not much in it! But that seems to make sense, like UEA said im not sure if theyre included as part of the sell on

I was quite impressed with Brahimi in the WC; 5 million seems a bit low.

Sounds a low price… Must wait to see the details.

Low by English standards which is why it's imperative WFC must be promoted this season.

If we are not near the top by January some big boats will be pushed out to get us there. As I said to my mate "get your bets on now, you won't get a better price" (though you might when Deeney goes as all the pundits will write us off).

Pereyra gone to Juventus according to transfermrkt.

  22. sherlock

Yes confirmed by teams. In euros: Juventus pays 1.5M for 1-year loan and has option to buy (most likely it WILL be used as it's a "gentlemens' agreement" between Agnelli and Pozzo) next summer for 14M + 1.5M for possible bonuses linked to Juventus results till 2020 and payables in three years.
    Not a bad deal.

    This is the deal:

    - Granada CF sells Brahimi to Porto 6.5M€ (Bad operation)
    - 1.5M€ goes to Rennes due to contract
    - The trinity receives only 4M for a great player, maybe the best in technique that has ever wear the Granada CF kit.
Has our president Pina became crazy?? He talks for a local newspaper saying: "Don't worry, its a good operation for us". HOW?!?

    HERE IS THE PLOT TWIST
    - Next day, Porto sells Brahimi's 80% rights to Doyen Investmen Fund
    - Who control Doyen? Pozzo & Pina
    SO:

Granada Cf avoids the Rennes contract by selling him with a low price, Porto gets the player but only 20% of him, rest is on the trinity, due to that, once Porto sells him (and we know Porto maybe the best buy/sell club in the world) and Doyen agrees on that selling, we will receive 80% of the price (And Porto made a 50M€ contract to Brahimi). Its a ****ing great loan (Its like our Siqueira's loan to Benfica and then selling him to Atletico 10M€).

    Pina is a genius.

I love how Granada CF is starting to be related to clubs like Porto, Atletico, Tottenham… So players think Granada CF its a good place where they can make a step in the future

So basically an 80% sell-on clause, on a club like Porto which SELLS? I agree, great deal!
And I'm really glad that Granada, as Udinese is in Italy, is becoming a "well known club where young talents can start their career". That's an excellent reputation to attract more and more of the good ones!

How are your new players Roji? I see from transfermarkt a lot of new names.
Also, we have at Udinese's pre-season a lot of lads who will probably come back to Granada. Not Ighalo maybe as he seems going towards Watford, but Coeff for example (I read he's really strong).
Also Jaime Romero seems quite a good player! Maybe the best option to fill the role of Brahimi?
Even Gejio is doing quite well in our friendlies and it looks like he can still be very useful.

Our new players are fine. Most of them maybe aren't known far from Spain but they are completing the squad really fine. Also, young man as Ortuño, Sulayman, Machis or Success are working hard knowing that Caparros loves to make young people debut.

Ighalo will go to Watford (Maybe he will score THE goal as he did here twice? :p), Coeff won't come back I think (The club didn't like his attitude) and Jaime Romero… I don't think he will ever come back, even less as the substitute of Brahimi :p

Right now Granada CF is working on closing the team with 4 more players: A striker (John Cordoba is so close), a Brahimi's substitute, a left winger and a central defender.

Wow, makes the deal sound a lot better! So basically, Porto are paying 6.5M€ of which Granada get 4M€ - sounds like a bit of **** deal for Porto, 6.5M€ for only 20%? Any idea how much the Doyen Investment Fund will have to pay for the 80%, or has it been negotiated in the deal for free?

  28. nisman94

    nisman94 International Man of Mystery

I'm confused. Apart from getting a good player, what good do Porto get from this? They're gonna have to hope that Brahimi will be enough to ensure them good money via winning the Primeira Liga, Taca de Portugal and numerous wins in the Champions League

  29. RunkleHorn

    RunkleHorn Academy Graduate

According to the Spanish media Porto received 5M€ for the 80%, so they've actually paid 1.5 for 20%, and the Pozzo's overall have made nothing so far. Presumably the deal is a way to keep a majority Pozzo ownership of a player they don't believe has reached his peak value yet, but who wanted a move to a bigger club. Also, because he will now be sold from Porto not Granada, the Pozzo's won't have to pay Rennes a chunk of any substantial future transfer fee.
