I noticed from the wikipedia that Udinese has it's own free TV service. Presumably Pozzo makes advertising money from this? If Watford were free to view on TV every week (don't think that could ever happen here with the TV contracts), I could only see the matchday attendances falling- especially in the current climate where people need to save money where they can.

How does this work for Udinese? Do you have a wide fan base? Who watches the web channel?

the sooner the better. Have just heard that price to reach premierleague is 90m GBP, is it correct?

You are indeed correct, under the current exchange rate I think that's around 100 million Euros.

The club that achieves promotion is guaranteed a package worth £90m, spread over 3 seasons, regardless of relegation.

Our season tickets are very reasonable. Ticket prices are £25 for adults, £15 for students £10 for childre, but often kids are only £1 to bring in families!
As a student my season ticket was £150 which works out as around £5 a game

Granada had been promoted to first division (Liga) from third division in two years but I think (it's my opinion) that the second promotion was a little bit surprising even for Pozzo. You'll be promoted, I think, when it will be the condition (economic) to do it. I think that you'll not spend a lot of time to come back to premier league, expecially if you now have a good team to be strengthened by some Udinese's players, maybe 1/2 years. Obiouvsly is only my opinion.

ahh thats good to know. maybe not a wise idea to go and stick £20 on us to win the league at 40-1 then haha.

next season i would be quite happy with a top half finish.

    Sure O__O?

If so, I correct myself: you'll be promoted in premier league next year :)

I really don't know... Is very difficult to understand pozzo's aims. Is very soon to have an idea if it could be an economic or a sportive strategy

We have a good side at the moment, however the Championship is a very difficult league. Many sides have very rich investors that spend a lot of money on Transfers. Its not unusual to see clubs spend €6m+ on players.

My season ticket (or membership if you like) is £355 or €440 which works out at about €19 per game. It's one of the cheapest in the division.

Pps if you wanna have an idea about the different opinion, look at the comments in udineseblog.it . The blog has 12,000 unic visit per day, and many different point of view.

Pozzo usually spends €2,5m on players, but often they are better than many more expensive. Last year he bought Danilo for 2 millions. I think Danilo is one of the best defender of serie A. Benatia costs 0,5m, Handanovic almost the same ecc.
    .
I have followed the Championship won by Swansea because I was interested in following Borini. I understand that it is a very difficult league.

I think, if all goes well, we should be thinking about twinning with our Spanish and Italian Cousins within the next few years.

I will readily put myself forward for any "fact finding" trips to Granada or Udine, if Watford Town Council will pay. I will especially interested to test the various foods and drinks available to check whether they live upto Hertfordshire standards.

It would also be good to have some friendlies against them.

This is a good point. I will certainly watch Barca v Granada with greater interest now. They gave us two really hard matches last season.

There is not different point of view.
You write and people read. The fan comments must be short and under your supervision.
You dislike the economic way of life of Udinese Calcio, and every day you write about this.
I love Udinese, and i'm not interessed in this. I am only a fan not an economist.
I must love my colours, that's all black and white, with Pozzo or without Pozzo is the same, serie A or B or Pro League is the same, i am in love with this team.
Are you sure that the only team in your heart is Udinese? Are you sure?
When you write here in the forum of english friends, speak for yourself, not also for me and others.
Monica, everything can change, Udinese Calcio as you like, or Udineseblog as me like, please not insist in your crusade. Udinese not need.

    Sorry for my english.

    Sorry,

    hi friends,

    I'm from udine too.
I came here to send you all my best wishes for this new experience.
I read the 3d before posting and must say that I do not agree with most of the things monica writes, but this is not a surprise, i don't agree with most of what she writes in her blog anyway. She often criticizes Pozzo, sometimes it becomes a kind of cruzade which is hardly tollerable also for those who have moved crictics to Pozzo.

Udinese, Granada, Watford.... whatfor? ;-) ....and the participations in Cadiz, Espanyol? and all the talkings about also other clubs in the past?... what does this mean? None of us could say we can deduce etherything and nothing. Personally I think that Pozzo is a genius from a strategic point of view and as a businessman. He is one of the very few who manages to gain from his investments in soccer teams and contemporary bring also great results.
I was very sceptic when he bought Granada, I was afraid he was planning a move or that we could suffer from their presence, but in the end it turned out to be only the place where to send the players in excess, those who needed an experience etc.. most of them really developed and brough Granada in only two seasons to their premierleague and with a much better finantial situation. We lost nothing, on the contrary we reached twice the CL playoff, and they got what they expected: stability and results. Reading now about you I think the intent is the same. So be happy of Pozzo arrival it is much better then any rich arab.

I hope this common experience in a kind of football network will create a friendship between our supporters.

    all the best

We clearly need a joint Watford Udine Granada Supporters group.

    Pozzo's WUGS

North eastern Italy has ****ing fantastic wines! and great food. And sunshine. Id gladly be up for an exchange trip if any of their supporters want to come for a game here.

Or should our supporters trust just stick to writing boring pessimistic and irrelevant statements and meeting in fusty rooms?
