To me, having been raised with the obsessive rules oriented football industrial complex, it's overkill. That's what's beautiful about FIFA rules. They leave things to subjectivity and allow the ref to make the call. The more rules you write, the more loopholes there will be for stuff to fall through.
John Fox looks to be the right fit for right now - i.e. beginning to turn around a franchise which really needs to be shaken up from top to bottom. He is that guy, his pedigree speaks for itself. I do worry though, if his heart will be in it in two or three years time. Hopefully his game management will be better than Trestman's (missing a potential game-winning FG on 3rd & 10, anyone?!), but he certainly has shown he is prone to the odd weird decision. There are things with which you associate Chicago to football: the cold, the wind, defense, integrity, underachievement. If he can help to recalibrate the club right now, he gets my vote. Looking at next year's schedule though, I think its going to need either an elite HC, or a young guy who has nothing to lose and can stomach a season which in all likelihood will be around the 5-11 / 4-12 mark.
- - -THIS JUST IN - - - The Bears would be absolutely, incomprehensibly wrong to trade Brandon Marshall, per everyone with any sense.
Please don't begrudge my Seahawks. Supported them since the 80s. They've been awful most of the time.
I also predict we won't get promotion, the Aussies will win the Ashes and the Tories will win the general election.
What. A. Game! I'm on a Chicago Bears UK fan-page, the reaction to the comeback and then OT was a liiiiittle bit jubilant. A superb game to watch. Marco Cassetti enjoyed it, as well. Now that Brady and NE ( #boo) have gone up by two TDs, can I be bothered to stay up for the rest of this game?
He's been find repeatedly. If he gets fined again, it will be at the $500,000 level. The league also knows they've lost the PR battle with him and they'd have a boomerang effect were they to fine him again, so barring some really stupid behavior, he won't be. Fun stuff!
Today is the day, the carrot and whiskey left out for Roger Goodell overnight. I woke up, checked the date on my phone and checked it again then ran to the television and began to settle in. For today, it is SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! Merry Sunday, and Goodell if you do exist, please, please make sure NE lose!
That photo of Richard Sherman is fantastic. I wonder if Marshawn may now consider his options a little bit before signing the "massive" contract extension put to him just recently. If I were him - I would not be best pleased with the OC and Pete Carrol after last night. A good game all in all - although I think I should be MVP after getting into bed at 03:28 and getting up at 08:20.
What a stupid call. Nearly as bad as Zola away at Bristol. Can't say I was too bothered after Friday's shameful events. That Sherman photo is funny.
I like American Football but watching this last night the adverts every 2 minutes drove me insane. I gave up after it went 7-0 bringing on another round of bl**dy ads. Great sport, too many breaks.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS NONSENSE?! Bears traded Brandon "best receiver on the Bears by miiiiiiiles" Marshall to the Jets. But that is not the worst of it, weary NFLers: for a FIFTH ROUND PICK! I can't even.
