    No Beckham vs Chicago tonight...

What do you know? A win.

Magee leads Beckham-less Galaxy past Fire 2-0

Most here feel the win was because Beckham didn't play...the truth is Chicago was horrible. The coach and their All-Star defender had a fight at halftime in the lockerroom last week, so their chemistry is shattered.

Next up is DC United, who coincidentally ALSO had a coach/player altercation last week...good times!

Looks like Landon will be wintering in Paris, reported to have agreeded with PSG on a loan after the MLS season. Glad he is getting an other shot over seas, and really glad it's not Germany for the 4th time.

I don't want him to go...

Is there a smiley for petulance?

Fitz, do you know if he is in his last year of his contract.. i can't see the MLS allowing the galaxy to sell him, and let beckham leave if they don't have too.

:rant::rant: I reckon this one will do

    That one will do...
I believe it is just a post season loan deal like that which Beckham got with AC Milan (and then infuriatingly extended missing half this season).

EDIT: Actually...the word is it would be a permanent transfer, not a loan.

Obviously, Landon needs to do what's best for his career at this stage, but I would far prefer to see AEG drive a Lorry stacked with $100 bills up to his swinging bachelor pad and lock him down until 2025.

Beckham back for DC United (away).

Result: G's 0-0 DC United...the team looked clunky and slow, and showed none of the fluidity and smoothness evident in the Chicago game. The end of the game got quite tense though the first 80 minutes were not that exciting.

Not to beat a dead horse, but Beckham has a way to go to become a best XI player for this MLS team today. Most of you have never heard of Mauricio Cienfuegos, but filling his tiny shoes as a Galaxy player is something that may never happen.

Next week: Superclasico against Chivas USA, a home game for the Galaxy against the renters. Beckham has been stinky for the Galaxy since he missed a sitter against Chivas USA last year and has played like he has a monkey on his back since. I hope he can fix that and get on with it in the next game...

    Hi Fitz,

Me and my family might be getting over your side of the pond in a couple of months or so, and we are hoping to take in a Galaxy game whilst we are there? Could you tell me when your season ends, and the best way to get hold of tickets? Or can you just pay at the gate?

    Cheers mate.

Season ends in October if you suck like we have the last few years. The last home game is 10/24. If we make the playoffs, there will be a few more games. It looks pretty good at this point. The final is Nov 22 in Seattle.

    Season starts again in April.

I can arrange for tickets for you easily. Just give me some dates and I'll grab them for you. No problem!

    Cheers Fitz,

I might just take you up on that if we make the trip?

At the moment it is still not 100% that we will be coming over, as it depends on a couple things we still have to sort out.

If we make it there will be 3 of us, me, my wife and my son Tom, who is 24 and a big fan of Dallas Cowboys as well as the mighty Horns.

Is there any way you would be able to get hold of tickets for any Cowboys games, or could you advise us of the best way for us to do so?

We are going to be travelling around a fair bit if we get over. Our rough plan is to fly into DC stay a couple of nights, then on to Frisco, stay a night or two then pick up a hire car, (any tips on the best deals?) drive down the coast over the next few days (about a week) taking in your fair city, LA, and ending up in San Diego for a night or two. From there we plan to fly to Dallas (if we manage to get Cowboy tickets) then onto NY for two or three days, then back home.

All in all we are looking at about 15 to 20 days for the trip. It will be nice to meet up with you and your notorious "Crew".

I really hope we can make it.

a night is not enough for frisco. but then if its a family thing i doubt the pleasures of the latin quarter would be that tempting

I hope you can make it too!
I don't know about the Cowboys tickets, though there are fans of theirs around I can ask...usually you have to go through a ticket broker (legalized scalper). That new stadium would be worth the price of admission alone. When you get closer to coming, I'll do some research to find out who to talk to.

I echo fan's comment about SF. What a town! So much to eat and do there, and easy to get around...I love the idea of you all driving down highway 1 to So Cal. It's a great trip. Stopping somewhere on the coast over night is a good idea, like in the Santa Barbara wine country (made famous in the movie Sideways).

There are always cheap car rental specials around. I usually just book through Expedia or Travelocity. Rarely gets cheaper.

It'd be great to see you and your family here! We have a lot of fun at Gaalxy games...Your son will love it.

Cheers for that Fitz, I keep you up to date and let you know if it is on or not?

I expect you might have caught up with what is going on over here by now?

What a day eh! hopefully it will all work out OK? Are you still coming over for the Newcastle game? Me and my son intend to be there so maybe we can meet up for a drink or three?

    Hope to see you then.

    What is a conference position?

  29. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

Instead of having just one 'table', there are two geographically divided conferences in MLS. The top teams in the conferences go to playoffs at the end of the year, leading to the MLS Cup Championship.

The conference concept is the hallmark of American sporting. It was critical because of the size of the country, where nearby teams played one another more often than those far off to minimize travel.

Just for reference, most of Britain can fit inside the state of California, where there are only 3 of the 15 MLS teams. It's a 6 hour drive at 80 mph to get to the next closest team to LA...

70 minutes of lackluster ball, followed by Beckham finally doing what I've been pleading for him to do: Shoot on a wide open play.

    He scored, off a ricochet.

    Good times!

    LA 1 - 0 Chivas

Some 13 year old Chivas fans challenged us to a fight at the burger joint down the road from the stadium after the game. We laughed in their face and told them one of them had forgotten their jacket inside, clearly visible through the window. They kind of lost some steam after that.
