According to the BBC Rumours column:

Watford want unsettled Rotherham striker Will Hoskins. (Daily Mail)

The Daily Mirror are talking about us stumping up £1.2m for this kid. I can't claim to know much about him but the Rotherham messageboards seem to talking of snapping our hands off at that price and of £800k being nearer his true price. I really hope we don't end up paying over the odds for strikers of questionable ability just because everyone knows we're desperate for a striker. I'd rather the board found the extra couple of hundred k and went for Sharpe.

Boxing day mirror says Aidys stuck in a £1.2 millon bid for Will Hoskins from Rotherham as one of our striker purchases. Suppose we'll find out very shortly which of these many rumours are true.

Whats everyones thoughts on Hoskins (not Bob :p) should they be true.

lol...we must have been typing at the same time, i just posted the same thread. Think i agree it sounds like a bit too much money for him. not even proven at Championship level, does neone think he can take such a large step up and be any good.

is he settling for a build up for next season in the championship or something?
If this chap was any good then the rotherham fans wouldnt be saying to "bite our hands off" at only £400k over his true value!

Exactly! Plus they're saying he's really only had one good half-season so far.

Aidy also said we will not get paying out 6 million for David Nugent.

1.2 million seems to be a big risk for somebody pretty much unproven even at Championship level and who to know the chap would do the business even if we went down which is more than likely.

Also it said West Brom were willing to let Ellington leave so they can get Sharp for 1.75 million and Edwards is rated at 1.5 million by Luton.

King was a class striker before he went to forrest... was already proven but couldnt do it for them.. fortunately he was perfect for our style.. which is often the case.. not all players can play well for all clubs they go too.
71 appearances for the gills 34 goals.

Scored again today and has been linked to most clubs lacking a striking prowess.

Including Celtic I heard which would be a problem with their money and CL offer.

Quick, nippy player who appears to be a natural goalscorer. Very raw talent and to be honest i'm not sure he'd be able to make the impact we require. Good signing as our 2nd striker and definately one for the future.

I'd like to think we'd sign Hoskins OR Sharp as if they were to be our 2 strikers that we are planning to get in then it's too much of a gamble for my liking.

Even though its been a while since we signed Hosks I still think we should go for Sharp next season. Will at the moment looks like a lost puppy at this level and its been a big step up for him.

I doubt for one moment Scunny would sell to a club in the same league which very likely looking at the current league tables.

A big bid of £3 Million would temp Scunny. Money well spent on a fantastick striker.

The one big dip in the transfer kitty for next year. Go on it makes sense !!!

I must have been at a different match ?

He will be ok but needs plenty of reserve matches and possible a loan next year.

Hoskins shows flashes of brilliance, nice touches and good link play. But until he gets settled and used to playing with a strike partner every week I don't think we will see the best of him.
