Which two of these strikers would be your choice if we could get them, either on loan or on a permenant basis. I've not included Nugent because I think he would not sign for us Smith Beattie Tyson Sharpe Eastwood Healy Other
I'm just not convinced he'd have enough to prove, which is the kind of motivation we should be looking for in a player I feel. I chose Smith and Sharpe, simply because I feel Smith has his fitness to prove (and is a class act anyway) and Sharpe has to prove he's good enough at this level.
True, but Beattie got a proving track record and that is what we need at the moment, someone who we know can get the goals at this level. I know smith has got the track record but hasn't stated that he wants to stay at man u after turning cardiff down?
I’ve chosen Eastwood and Beattie. It was a choice between Eastwood and Sharpe for the permanent striker and I went for Eastwood because he now has some experience in the Championship. I'd be more than happy with either though. I’d rather have Beattie than Smith, purely because of his better disciplinary record both are proven players in the Premiership. I also think Beattie would act better as the target man, with Eastwood playing off him because he has a good touch and heading. He can also take penalties (not that we have had a chance to take one of them yet!).
I think it was more that he didn't want to leave Man U just to go to a Championship side. Hopefully this intensive fitness regime he is currently on will work out for him and he'll be ready to go out on loan in January.
Smith on loan (still think he may have an attitude problem) and Sharpe as a signing. This is a combination of experience, and a hungry striker Aidy could develop - also think Sharpe could work with Marlon when he gets back from New Zealand;D
I choose Beattie on loan and Sharpe as long term prospect! Sharp is banging them in at the moment (17 this season) he'll be a lively player at any level!
Smith is the sort of player who always gives everything he's got, which is one reason why I'd want him.
4 Votes for other? I see there are 4 votes for other strikers. Do those of you who casted those votes have anyone in mind? Please post a reply if you do? ???
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Nathan Tyson sooner. Especially after his 8 minute hat trick at Crewe.
This thread is about strikers. Yes i know you've included one. How can you not rate a player after hitting an 8 minute hat-trick ?? Not even one bit as well !?!?!?
Beattie would be good, he has strength and good presense. He's also technically very good and creates as well as scores. I also voted for 'other' and would like to see Earnshaw.
I'd love to see Earnshaw here but from what i've heard Earnshaw is off to Reading with a straight swap for Lita! He'd cost around what Norwich paid for him...£3,000,000? We need a 'little and large' partnership to suit our direct tactic...so Beattie or Smith as the targetman would be ideal and someone like Earnshaw, Sharp or Eastwood as the goalscorer would suit us?
I went for Smith, obviously on loan and my pick would be Carlton Cole. with West Ham having £25mil to spend I can see a few bargains amongst their squad to be had. Cole is similar to Marlon in that he was highly rated but has drifted away (less the prison sentance), I think Aidy could turn him around.
Earnshaw is worth shelling out on, we need a big january. I know spending is a risk but it is so worth the risk with sky money increasing to 40 million plus in the premiership next season. PLEASE not Cant control Carlton Cole im sure Aidy said "proven "goal scorer.
Well so far Smith seems to be your favourite to get in on loan, but its very close between Sharp and Eastwood on who should partner him. Lets put a time to finish this poll, say 12noon this Saturday! Keep on voting!
