But with the service he is receiving, like last night, what do you expect?

Not Darius' fault he is a Championship player at best.

Has done ok in some games but defences are much better in this league in dealing with big tall strikers.

True , but when he has had good service he hasnt managed to bring about many saves.

I know he's not in the same league as crouch but he went through the same hell last season , I reckon if he gets one goal , he'll gaine the confidence and start to score on a regular basis , ie 1 in 3

Service = long ball... Darius.... Head.... Target Man.... no goals....

I know he works his socks off but at any other club this just wouldn't be acceptable!

It seems acceptable at Liverpool to feed crouch .

No goal after 70 minutes = bring on crouch + high ball

I can't see what you're getting at??? Crouch is a fair few inches taller and plays for England..... he also has Gerrard, Alonso etc producing the long balls....

Sorry if i misunderstood you, couldn't work out what you we're getting at!

In previous threads I have said I haven't rated him this season at all, and so far I have seen little to suggest he is good enough for the premiership but I don't think in games like last night you can blame it entirely on him,

can you honestly say last night he had good service? or is this a comment on his performance so far this season?

I am living in hope he gets one goal, gets his confidence back and starts banging them in, please, god?

I also believe he will get one goal and then hit a rich vien of form , just needs the first one .

Looks like he'll have to January to prove himself before the new striker comes in and hopefully plays along side young.....

i like darius a lot, fantastic attitude to the game but he has no chance with the service he gets. how many times did he win the ball, particularly in the first half only for it to go nowhere near a watford player. its a pointless tactic when darius is all alone. there was no pattern to our forward play at all.

What happened to getting the ball down the wings and slinging it in to a big centre forward. hang on, we had two wingers didnt we?

My thoughts exactly. Bring back Devlin and Ardley - no just kidding

I think Young should be used as a striker though as he is far more effective in that role - pulls the defence around because he can drift out to the wings and deep and play on the last man. He's very difficult to defend against.

Don't think he is good enough at this level, for a target man who can't time his jumps, it is pretty frustrating... even more so when he is played up front and completely isolated in a 4-5-1

Don't think that's fair at all. One thing Darius does is win a lot in the air. More relevant is your point about being the 1 in 4 5 1 then having the ball lumped up to him when he has no support.

agree with what you say about Hendo! Just frustrated that is all... especially when Shittu came off the bench to play up front, won every high ball header and looked seriously dangerous!! (more than Hendo did all night)

COME ON HENDO>>>GIVE US A GOAL!!! (would love him to score)

But where's the motivation for him to win headers anyway? He heads it on and who's there to support him? That's right kids, it's our new number 9, Mr. Nobody. He ghosts into fantastic positions like he isn't even there. Oh hold on...he actually isn't there! The point is Hendo doesn't get nearly enough support, particularly in a 4-5-1 system where it's the absolute reponsibility of the two wide men to support the lone striker. Doubley so at home. No wonder the poor guy gives up after a while if all his efforts are wasted anyway!

UEA, we have signed Johnny X the Invisible Striker. He's just out of form given he is lacking match practice.

Henderson will be a lot more effective playing alongside a proven Goalscorer who can pick up his flicks and somebody he can hold the ball up for.

As an out and out Forward on his own it will never work but with some support he can be very effective, he is never going to beat 2 or 3 players and score many "Goals of the month" but he can still do a job.

.....and we will never be able to lack him for effort, but if we had to rely on Darius to score us the Goals on his own to keep us up then it is likely that we would be relegated in record time!
