Thanks for the link! Enjoyed that, particularly when he said "it's not about me or anybody else, it's about Watford" Nice. Looking forward to some summer signings.
He is a good guy and I'm sure he will win over the players and fans very quickly. He is very honest and sincere and I think as well as Watford fans, the neutral will want him to succeed
I always think in life you learn more from mistakes than succeses. I'm sure Zola will have learnt from his West Ham experience, not all of which was his fault anyway. I'm sure when approached by the Pozzos, he sought assurances that he would be in charge and have the final say on transfers and the likes.
sounds very genuine. hope it all goes well for us now, not just for our sake but also for his. it would be such a shame to see such a nice guy fail. still i think the future is very bright. long may the zola reign last.
I'm getting a little excited now. However, I don't want to see us just bringing in Spanish/Italian players. I don't want the club to lose it's identity.
Zola said he'd give the current players a chance which means the likes of Murray should still be a certain stater. Might be the end of quite a few though but then that might have been the case with Dyche in charge.
Thanks for posting that. Really good to listen to! I literally can't wait for the season to start already!
the other thing is, that big expensive transfer fees should now be few and far between....bringing in season long loans should benefit us on the financial front. The pozzo's are not stupid in appointing Zola as manager either....apart from employing a very well respected man of the football world and a passionate football person that has a point to prove, we will now see a spike in season tickets just because it's him. Gloryhunting fans or not, it will be good to see a slightly more full vicarage road.
Owners, managers and players come and go. It's the fans and history that create an identity. True we will have a more continental feel, but that has to be to our benefit (and in a generations time possibly the national side - depending how well those in the academy progress). It's exciting to be part of something; the owners have spoken of our identity and imo back room staff leaving wont change the essence of the club
Really nice chap and a 'football' man. I thought he made the right noises at the press conference but would have preferred him to sound a little more assertive. He can understand Maps wishing to play in the Prem and will not stand in his way, just hope he puts over the ambition of our club in trying to keep him. I think he needs a good start to take the pressure off and hope that loanees can be brought in quickly to integrate them, this goes for those he wants rid of also - so a busy few weeks. Shame there wasn't a role for SD as I think him and Zola would have made an excellent team.
I have said this from the start, but I suppose we may never know whether SD was asked to stay on in some capacity and turned it down, or whether he just had his contract terminated?
