He let himself and the team down. Very stupid and reckless challenge and was pleading his innocence to Zola when coming off the pitch. Zola rightly unimpressed.
He's been brilliant for us this season, scored vital goals and put in warrior like performances without which automatic promotion wouldn't have even be possible. He was reckless and let his emotions get the better of him today but he has the opportunity to make up for this in the home leg of the playoff semi (and possibly the final) and I think he will do just that.
To a degree GFZ seemed to justify it by Deeney being continually fouled I don't buy that and certainly NOTHING justifies getting a card for kicking ball away. Childish, petulant and wouldn't be acceptable in a pub team. I'd guess that despite his protestations that he is a changed man Deeney still has anger mgmt issue and those issues could have cost us tens of millions of pounds.
i thought he was a little unlucky -the player made a jump and roll tho TD was late i dont know why people are slating him so much. Deeney was only showing the fight and passion to stop a cross going over, why was their no defender doing that, why did Deeney have to chase back as the player was left alone.. Thanks for your guts and blood approach Troy.. but wtf you get booked for kicking the ball away - that is feckin silly - i mean really feckin silly. WFC needed every second of playable time none to be wasted not one second... that i can understand people being angry about.
He has anger management issues because he kicked the ball away? I remember Fernando and Chalobah doing the same thing this season; does that mean they are fighting a constant battle with their temper as well? On the pitch Deeney has never showed any sort of issues with his temper and off the pitch there has only been one incident where he instantly apoligised, admitted he was wrong and stated that it was completely out of character. Kicking the ball away is a harmless, albeit stupid, thing to do and you are out of order for dragging something which happened in the past which he has clearly moved on from in an attempt of making some sort of tenuous link to the trivial act of dissent which happened today.
Did he not have to be restrained from chasing after Leicester players and - yes - petulantly kicking the ball away is an anger mgmt issue.
What Deeney needs to learn is that after a decision is made accept it and move on,instead he is chomping at the ref all the time, and also chomping at players around him if they miss the target. At peterborough he was the same, and was at Anya all the time.I see no need for him to get involved when other players are not given decisions and to keep on the refs case is asking for trouble. Also Zola should have realized he was booked in the 1st half,he said he did not know.Leicester will have something else to think about with FF and Vydra up front and No deeney.
This!!! It's one of the reasons why I think we don't get half of the important decisions, like penalty appeals, as we are in the ears of the officials too often at times where we don't need to be.
He lost his discipline at a crucial juncture. Nonetheless that ***** Brown jumped up when no contact was made and did an exaggerated pirouette which made it seem much worse. Furthermore if the ***** in black was consistent why wasn't Poleon not sent off either. He kicked the ball away on the East Stand side on halfway when we were awarded a free kick. Okay it was not in as forceful a manner as Deeney but nonetheless by the letter of the law it is a bookable offence. And therefore a sending off after his first booking. The ***** in black was terrible. Why for such an important game we had this Mr.Salisbury as referee I do not know. On the bright side at least Troy will be fit and raring to go for next Sunday. I expect Geijo to step up. He may be a little rusty though but you never know he may turn out to be that hero.
This is a bit harsh and before you say it, not fair either. Our collective results are the reason we didn't go up automatically, not one sending off incident, however unnecessary.
