http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130129-zola-pre-bristol-625480.aspx Do not be cocky. Totally agree with this, and to show humility will make you a very popular winner. Zola hits the nail on the head yet again with his wise words and attitude.
I saw in one of the papers yesterday there was an interview with Abdi, the crux of the interview was that there is a very down to earth attitude in the camp. they aren't looking at their current league position and are taking each game as it comes. This can only be a good sign.
One of the things I like about Zola is his humility (obviously a very likeable guy) and that seems to be rubbing off on the squad. Considering what he has achieved in his playing career, Zola is very down to earth.
We won't be going up with an attitude like that. Everyone hates us anyway, might as well be arrogant too.
Wise words but Im with Ron on this one. He needs to realise that the supporters have been many places with the golden boys and have followed them for many more years than he will have ever of heard of us.
I strongly disagree. We should be as c untish to other fans as humanly possible. Flares during games, offensive masks and chants, and especially racist, offensive and downright controversial banners unfurled during games directed towards the nans of opposing players and coaches are encouraged. We've been nice for too long now and I'm bored of it. I want us to gain the nickname: 'Watford - the c unts.'
I know this forum only shows a small section of WFC supporters but the attitudes shown on here by several of the posters over the past few months are that of spoilt kids. All of a sudden we have gone from defending the robust football we used to play to now criticising anybody that plays long ball or puts a crunching tackle in and generally having a section of ‘we are better than you because of the style of football we play’. A lot of WFC fans would do well to remember where we have spent the majority of our years and be a bit more graceful.
As for Ashton Gate tonight, Zola is able to call on a squad which is largely bereft of injury concerns (separate update to come from Marco Cesarini on those currently sidelined) .... and expects to win 6-0.
It's very difficult from a fans perspective not to get a little cocky when doing well especially when a fan of this club where cockiness has been somewhat slim on the ground recently. He does however make a very good point. This division has a way of bringing teams down to earth with a bump so I hope the players will take this as seriously as the previous two games otherwise we could be in for a shock. Sounds like we will be well supported tonight considering our support is fecking sh1te! 0-38 Tough night for the Bristolians!
Zola should practice what he preaches, if he had taken Charlton more seriously we would already be in 2nd place
We need to keep our cockiness in our trousers, unless we are at Wembley in which case it is acceptable to run around with our cockiness hanging out
Hear Hear GFZ. All those going tonight really get behind the boys but leave out the anti non league club and antagonistic chants towards the oppo fans. Sing your hearts out with pro WFC songs especially when we are defending. It is hard for us not to be excited with our current team and form but no need for arrogance. Having said that, I think we are perfectly capable of beating any team in this division. Come on you Golden Boys !!!
Guarantee he will change the front 2 though. Hardly showing humility if you rest some of the best players...yeah yeah squad rotation blah blah. Should be going for it to take us to 2nd.
Rather rest strikers and bring in more than capable replacement against a team that are poor at the back, than play the likes of Vydra (who missed last season with a serious knee injury) for 90 mins every single week til the end of the season and risk burning him out or getting injured. What's the point of having the excellent depth we have in our squad and not utilizing it?
Don't Zola learn anything, he is playing the same team that lost to Charlton, and he tells us not to take the p--s
Fair play - dropping Deeney after his latest Twitter rant and showing some respect to that poor, poor woman who suffered ridicule and anguish over the Christmas period when her car and life were destroyed. #zola4dignity #WatfordagainstthugslikeDeeney
Hardly. The defensive trio was all wrong against Charlton and this is why we lost. Tonight Nosworth, Hall and Ekstrand start. This is our strongest possible defensive trio. Murray is a bit of a risk, but he's still a very good player and Cassetti limped off on Saturday, so it makes sense to rest him. I'm a little surprised both Chalobah and Battocchio are rested, but Hogg, Eustace and Abdi....seriously, are you really unhappy with that? FF and Geijo up front is more then decent. All our big guns on the bench if required. Just relax and trust this team to do the business.
Difference is we have a solid and experienced defence whereas against Charlton we had Neuton falling about and Hoban having his worse game all season...
You should listen to what I say, I told you before the match what would happen I am not being clever after the event
