Very encouraged by Zola's anger at the postmatch interview threatening players who continue with basic errors, especially late in the game. THEY HAVE BEEN WARNED, and I expect to see this anger make a difference. 2 week break to regroup. Some encouraging signs today judging by 3CR and I just have a gut feeling we are going to come back stronger and ready for a winning run...
He genuinely seems to be one of the nicest guys you could meet. It's good to read he may be losing patience with some of them. Still plenty of time to, the funny thing is we are playing crap and still 7th ! Normally at this time of year we joke when the clocks go back we have league one looking over shoulder !!!
This. Zola has said "encouraging things" in post match interviews before. I'd rather he didn't say anything, but we saw the outcome of his ire in the way our team lined up for the next match. I can fully understand why Zola is angry though. You've got people on here and on twitter making noises about him being sacked, and meanwhile, players in whom he's put faith, are letting him down and letting the fans down. We should be doing better. Players aren't giving us 100% and that is what's unnacceptable.
Agreed, but there's a change in demeanour No more Mr nice guy - from now on, it's Zola with rottweiler teeth The 'Boro game was when our season turned and we're going on a winning streak You heard it here first
Since this outburst Zola has sent a ''Sorry xx'' text to all the players with flowers being sent to everyone and a note that says ''It will never happen again, I promise. Love from Zola''
From what I saw at the Riverside, Lewis McGugan. He has Thorne, Anya, Battochio and Fabbrini as other midfield options who show more for the ball and may tackle and track back better.
McGugan could spend an entire game meditating in the centre circle, but still be kept on the field due to his 'amazing ability' at set pieces. Unfortunately for Zola, he cannot play McGoo in the next game as he is suspended, so I guess we will have to see how the team looks without him. Personally, I think LMG's vast improvement in the games where he gets booed by opposition fans, makes me question why he is not always motivated and committed to the cause, often playing at 50%. Yes he is clearly playing in a position that requires him to focus too much defensively, and he is being dragged out wide as he needs to cover the space when the wing back is out of position or being double teamed. But that is no excuse for a lack of effort. If he doesn't improve, we could always send him on a short loan spell to prison, we know personally how much players improve and focus after a short spell away... well, for a season at least.
It's sad that we have to rely on a 24 year old as our main centeral defender. The sooner we get some expiriance back there to help ANgella the better
Drop Angella, Pudil, McGugan, Doyley, Deeney and Iriney. Throw the kids in. At least they would give 100%.
I find it hard to take the idea of an angry Zola seriously. he's just too nice. Too nice to be a top manager probably.
