Z cars is a link to the 1960s and the era of post third division football. But it was chosen randomly because an ex manger liked the TV programme. It's origin for the TV Z cars was its setting in Lancashire (Kirby inspired), it's last programme must be 40 years ago. The music is based on a traditional Liverpool folk song "Johnny Todd". It has no relevance to Watford at all except it has been used for 50 years. I like it for its familiarity and continuity. It could be worse the manager if the day could have liked Crossroads or Mission Impossible or even Dads Army. Happy to change it if we can find a walk on anthem the whole crowd to ding as the team matches out, but no one seems able to do that.
