So with the start of the orders of crimble presents, post your deliver experiences.

Hermes have updated the status of my delivery on-line to:
Good going considering it's to a business address, I've been here all day have cctv on the door and the status was updated 7 mins ago. More likely at 16:36 the courier had too much to do before the end of his shift and mine was one of the unlucky ones that got bumped.

DPD have been their usual efficient selves, delivering within the slot they promise.
Amazon are starting to get a little unreliable which is worrying. Nothing has gone missing yet but the odd prime thing has started to turn up a day late.

I've just signed up for prime. That's not what I want to be hearing! I'm thinking about setting up a secret space "under bush to the left of front door" as I feel shame getting too much delivered to work, even though everyone does it.

    What could possibly go wrong...

I think they're just busy.Prime on the whole has been decent but they;ve tried to deliver to a business address late in the evening a couple of times, normally they just come back the next day.
In all honesty I'd prefer people just used royal mail or at least gave you the option to choose courier. At least with royal mail at the weekend I can wander up the road and deal with the miserable bloke behind the counter and collect it.

I've got a prime account which work abuse. I ordered some network bits via Prime on Thursday morning to be delivered to the office Friday. Friday evening I received an email saying they'd just been dispatched so kicked off with Amazon and got given a free month of prime. They then tried to deliver on Sunday, found nobody at the office, (wonder why), so sent back to depot and said they'd refund me if their attempt today also failed. The bits turned up this afternoon. I'm about to kick off again.

RC, for home deliveries I use Amazon Locker which means they drop at a specified place nearby and I pick up at my leisure. It's very good and I've yet to kick off about anything delivered there.

Amazon Lockers are brilliant, we've just installed them at a couple of our buildings at work...so good!

I had a great delivery experience from Yodel recently, a box about 18" cubed was left under my doormat, or rather, the doormat was placed over it, and when I opened my front door, there was a card saying " we've left you parcel under the doormat" excellent

    Ah good stuff.

Is Amazon locker free with prime? I've used one before (in the shopping centre by st Paul's cathedral locker fans) and agree they are well ace.

Edit I really could have just googled that but I've hit send now...

So we're creeping towards the 16:29 of yesterday and Hermes still haven't turned up with my Dad's Xmas present.
A courier for the office downstairs came about 20mins ago, that was a cruel trick to play on me.

I now find my Brother's Xmas present is also coming by Hermes:mad:

Who are Hermes? I have never heard of them.

I use amazon prime, and had to wait in the office until 7pm the other day to receive the new xbox one x. No chance I wasn't going to wait for that one!

Been around since 72 apparently had delivered 100 million parcels in 1980 so they're not small.

Not able to deliver my parcel yet though sill "due to be delivered today"

After a nice on-line chat this morning with the supplier of the goods, further location information was provided to the courier and success, delivery at 12:00. Apparently the address was listed as restricted access despite us having a car park.

I'd normally have just cancelled but I've got another one coming from the same courier tomorrow. Hopefully it's be the same driver.

If you pay it all off at the end of the month and put all of your purchases on it, the odd £10 credit to your amazon account is quite nice. Especially if you use amazon as much as I do. Apparently I've placed 64 individual orders so far this year.

Time for a resurrection of this annual Xmas delivery thread.

For the past 3 days I've had text messages from Yodel Kindly informing me that my parcel will be delivered that day.
Considering that I've not ordered anything and I don't live in Warwick I am assuming they have the wrong mobile number.

On-line chat was interesting on Wednesday, it went along the lines of:

Me: You've texted me notification of a delivery but I've not ordered anything. I suggest that you've got the wrong mobile number.
Them: Thanks can you confirm the delivery address.
Me: No. Tracking shows it's In Warwick but as I live in London it's definitely not for me.
Them: but what is your address so we can check.
Me: Why do you need my address? I'm absolutely certain I don;t live in Warwick. This is not my parcel, its for a different area of the country. If you have the wrong notification details the correct recipient would be able to arrange for collection so Yodel won't be able to deliver.
Them: Ah I understand I'll sort.

    Thursday:
Text message we were unable to deliver yesterday but will deliver today

    Friday:
    Text message:
We are making a delivery today please ensure someone is available to receive.

Normally I'd just block the number but it's likely I'll have a Yodel delivery at some point in the future and don't want to miss out.

I've found a fraud prevention email contact and told them again. All fun and games.

More importantly I've treated myself to a new TV in the black Friday sales to go in the games room. Having recently upgraded to Sky Q I've already had another mini box delivered by HM Royal Mail who remain excellent. So I'll be able to play darts and watch darts at the same time over Xmas. The nice man from John Lewis will deliver between 7am & 5 pm tomorrow, although luckily I should get a 2 hr window notification tonight.

You live in Warwick and I've reported you to Yodel as a cad and a fraudster. They'll be sending the boys round to beat someone up in Kidderminster.

My employer banned any personal deliveries to work last year. It's a pain, but I can sort of understand as there was a pile of boxes (mainly Amazon) about 6 feet high in the post room one time I was in there shortly before they banned it. Plus we directly employ about 30,000 in London at multiple sites, so it adds up.

This means that the woman with the new born baby next door is getting a lot of knocks on the door.

Of note the delivery driver is ony 1/8th of the way through their schedule at it's midday what a fecking miserable job that is. I sometimes have a can of Coke and a Mars bar for anyone that delivers stuff to be. It's often appreciated.

Never use anybody that uses Yodel. By far the worst delivery company out there. DPD far and away the best.
In fairness to them all, (I'm in logistics, albeit international logistics) Black Friday is a killer for all these companies as it goes completely mental and the transport infrastructure cannot cope. The company you order from will probably have delays due to not enough staff or a system that can't cope. There are no where near enough HGV drivers in this country and this time a year they are as rare as hens teeth so this further delays things. You then get your goods in to the local delivery agent that can't cope either as all the drivers they took on for November and December, either don't turn up or are utter bobbins and deliver about 10% of they were given. I move around 280 tonne around the world each week but for the last two weeks that's been in excess of 600 tonne per week and will be the same next week so I do sympathise with these companies but it would be so much better if they told the truth rather than lie.
If you don't order online by the 15th you probably won't get it. On the plus side, you don't live in Canada where the postal services were on strike for a week and are now facing a huge backlog
    Merry Christmas xx

They are very big but up to last year they used a third party to carry out some of their deliveries. However, they took it back in house at the start of the year and while I believe they've been ok so far, this period will certainly test them

On Wednesday I ordered David Bowie's 'Stage' 3LP as it had a cyber week price of £12.88 (bargain for a 3LP pack!) together with Bowie's 3LP Glastonbury 2000 set (I was there!) released only today.

Yesterday evening I get an email saying has been dispatched and will arrive on Monday. No problem, I thought, I'm not with Amazon Prime.

The parcel was delivered at work today at 10.30am, less than 12 hours after dispatch. Fair play! :D

I was just about to slag this off as the dullest thread ever to appear on the forum when, MiB, I saw your post.

Weirdly, I ordered Stage last month & the Glasto dvd was delivered yesterday.

Yet more weirdly, I’ve just noted that I am clad entirely in black. And am male.
