Beat Italy 3-1 in the semi final. Magnificent achievement. Does anybody know if the final is on tv anywhere

Eurosport hold the rights I believe.

A shame it's not an evening game on a Friday or Saturday, could create a bit of a buzz for it.

    Future is bright - potentially?

Lets hope these guys do get a chance with their club's first team at some point as clearly there is some quality there - or don't get gobbled up by greedy agents who just put the talk of money and fame into their heads.

Then Boothroyd gets hold of them...

Amazed to see so many of them with double-barrelled surnames. I hadn't realised association football was still so popular with public schoolboys.

    Jolly good show :D

England 1-0 up and probably deserve it. Peneranda has done ok and has had a very decent effort from a free kick. No question he has talent

Who was the lad who hit that free kick from just inside the England half!?

Can we sign their sub instead of Penaranda?

Isn't their centre back Williams Valasquez on our books too? He's looked really good too so far.

I thought he was very decent and certainly had plenty of promise. Their little sub was brilliant

Nothing to do with penalty miss but penaranda reminds me of Forestieri . Lots of promise and talent , poor end product and spends too much time on the deck .

Soltedo was pick of their players when he came on . How he didn't start I dont know.
    Reminded me of City's Silva.

Onhama was our best player IMO , absolute beast . Calvert Lewin reminds me of a young Big Chris Iwelumo.

Agree on both counts. Pen looks like he needs to be less selfish but the little chap really stole the show. Can only think he wasn't considered fit to start.

He was apparently carrying a knee injury which is why he didn't start

Just seen the penalty save - usually when a keeper saves one down the middle it doesn't seem like a good save as it just hits them, but this lad (Freddie Woodman) had actually dived to his right and then stuck out a really strong arm to make the save.

Useless fact of the day - he's the son of former Northampton goalkeeper Andy Woodman, who played against us in our 97/98 promotion season (Richard Johnson scored a screamer past him at the Vic).

    Well done England Under 20s.

Hopefully this isn't another false dawn and we might see some of this talent filter through.

Seems to be a lot of decent young goalies around...Hart certainly ought to be under pressure.

True but Fessi was already in his mid-twenties when he joined us, despite looking about twelve years old. Penaranda's far younger & there's plenty of development & improvement to go yet. He already looks better than most at that age.

Totally agree. I wasnt writing him off at all. He always wanted the ball despite making mistakes and clearly was a leader of the team. Fessi was 22 when he came to us BTW

You can see why he may struggle to get in the 1st team at Udi and Malaga though, maybe a lower level loan would be better to get him maximum game time as that is where the end product comes from.

How significant is a win like this in terms of senior football, i.e. how have the senior teams of previous winners fared in the years following a successful tournament?

If we can follow in their footsteps, we could be lifting the ACON within 5 years! No more years of hurt!

A ridiculously out of form Joe Hart gets in the team ahead of excellent young English keepers. What chance the young Lions?

More success for England's youth players - winners of the Under 19s Euros.

We've got a very good U17 team. It's very hard to tell where these kids will end up as so much depends on their physical and mental development, but this is definitely the most talented group to emerge for at least a decade. This run has largely been with an unfit Gomes, who is one of our most talented players and captain of that age group. Ex-horn Sancho, who famously recently moved to Dortmund, was recalled by BVB after the group stages also.

They've got everything they need in terms of youth facilities and the players around them, especially at City and Chelsea, and increasingly again at United. The question will be whether they can move on at the appropriate time in their development. It is positive that more players like Sancho are willing to move abroad where they will get more of a chance, and will have more time to develop technically.
