Difficult to write anything. Depressed and numb.

People say they will enjoy the trip to Wycombe. Why bother support the club if mediocrity is all you want to accept. Certainly not what GT wanted when he took on the assignment from SEJ.

The club is in a mess behind the scenes with the incompetence of fatty and Scott and the mysterious Roy. It's a mess on the pitch with players like Deeney who have been detrimental to the team.

However problems like these are best sorted out when one is in the PL not the Chumpionship. There will be a huge financial hit. It may well mean losing Sarr, Estupinan and Suarez for far less than what we might have expected.

It will mean our ability to recruit from the UK and abroad will be affected. It will hamper development off the pitch. And the long drawn out process of trying to establish in the top flight will have to be restarted all over again. And there is no guarantee of even coming straight back up. Look at Huddersfield. Not to mention all the people who will lose their jobs at Vicarage Road. In fact they are the ones people should feel most sorry for.

The players nearly to a man have been embarrassing. Will they accept wage reductions for their performances ? Not a chance. Because football is in a bubble compared to all other walks of life. Parasites like Gray will be stealing a living for another season along with Success. How ironic a name.

The senior management too. Riddled with managerial instability. Which also means millions disappearing into the ether in compensation. Complacency with a dreadful summer transfer window. Dawson and Sarr. Poor physical preparation with an old squad that is prone to injuries. Again too many sicknotes in the side.

People are harping on about Vile and their players. How many are actually from the area ? Just one that tosser Grealish. They are more motivated no doubt by the thought of losing pay I'd expect. They have also had a tremendous amount of fortune as with last night the ball bouncing off the post back to baldy. People may say that VAR is an excuse but to say we have been shafted by it is not an unreasonable assumption given the points it has cost us. Away Newcastle. Away Tottenham and Southampton. How Alli and his goal stands while Sakho has his ruled out against Vile. Not to mention the hawkeye debacle when the ball was clearly over the line. They should be relegated already by now and having the over injury time winner against us as well.

No doubt Sky and BT will be wetting themselves at the prospect of a 'big' club staying up while three minnows depart. I don't care about their circuses. All I care about is the club. To be the best it can be and to be financially well off. Even if that means finishing fifteenth each year. It's better than struggling along in the Chumpionship.

Of course many changes need to be made. The lack of a youth policy, work on the academy, domestic scouting, getting rid of Deeney and fatty and several of the useless winkers in the squad like Gray to reduce the wage bill and bleeding more youth in. Gino needs a kick in the pants because of his failure to adapt the model along with his lapdog Duxbury. The lack of communication with fans despite the times is appalling.

We're still in this just. I shall not be watching on Sunday for once. We just have to hope that we better whatever the Vile achieve. Perhaps Arteta can ask his team to play at the same level of ineptitude.

Other than that what a thoroughly depressing season on and off the pitch.

Is this a match preview? Who are we playing?

    One goal....that's all we need.

    1 for West Ham
    0 for Villa
    0 for Arsenal

    We stay up....simples

As always you write sensibly and with knowledge. You eloquently express our pain and frustration at every turn.
Being the third child with two older brothers I knew football before I knew tennis and that means Watford.
I have, like many seen worse teams play for us but as many have articulated, very few who were underachieving as much as this current squad. Fans can forgive players who fulfill their level. It's hard to forgive all, owner, staff, players who make entry level errors so often.
You're correct about VAR but if this squad had been better prepared,by Gino,Giraldi and the like it would be an irrelevance.
Oh for a Kenny Jackett,Wilf,Hessentahler,Luther out there on Sunday.
My only hope is for red socks to work their magic,I've run out of charms and blame myself.
Since I bought my yellow Abarth, we've been awful.
    It's going on Monday.

  6. If fatty plays I won’t watch. **** em. I’ll put the same effort in he will. I’ll take the dog for a stroll and flap my arms a bit.

If Mullins has the guts to call out abject failure for what it is, and try something different I will be glued to the telly.

From now on this club gets back what it gives.

A more complex scenario is a Bournemouth get a draw. West Ham win 3-0 and Arsenal win 1-0. We stay up on goal difference.

To be honest I don’t give a toss, but wouldn’t WH see Villa as longer term rival compared to us? As in Villa are a bigger club so better for their own prospects to try and relegate them?

If we’re Bournemouth, then yes you’d be right.

Edit: Ignore me. Bournemouth are behind on points, forgot about that.

    Would definitely take that scenario!

Teams are level on points, goal difference, goals scored and points in H2H record. Therefore, it goes down to the away goals scored in the H2H between the two teams.

Watford stay up through Deeney's goal at Villa Park.

I'd hope that the need to get a result will help focus the mind, rather than sitting back.

Unfortunately, this is Watford with "crazy low confidence" and we'll mope our way to a defeat and finish 19th.

4-4-2 and just go for it. Welbeck and Chunks up top Capoue and Hughes in the middle with Sarr and Pedro on the wings.

Looking around the various threads this morning it's nice to see a few green shoots of optimism appearing after last nights complete doom and gloom.

Come on guys we CAN still do this: - Nil "Points"(in a French accent) for Villa and Muff and just the ONE POINT for us and we are safe.

DOES THAT REALLY SOUND SO IMPOSSIBLE
    It doesn't to me.....

SO LETS GET BEHIND THE BOYS JUST ONE MORE TIME

It will be the same line up that gave up last night. Mapps will play for the crocked Masina, Hughes will run his heart out as he does care about our situation, as will Sarr. Deeney will try to hold up the ball, win a few headers now and then and fail to get into the box when we do actually go forward with an attacking option. Arsenal will play three times better than they did last night against Villa, and score on the break. It's pretty unreal that we can lose this game and still survive.

    We draw:

Muff go down regardless of other sides.
Villa go down if they lose and Muff win but better their goal GD but not ours (sending them both down).

    We Win:

    Muff go down.
Villa go down if they lose or draw, or even if they win with a worse final GD than us.

    We lose:

We go down if Villa get a draw or a win
Muff do down if Villa draw or win
We go down even if Villa lose due to their +1 GD, sending Muff down regardless of their result.
We survive even if we lose if we lose by less goals than Villa by +1 added in. So, say we lose 2-0 and Villa lose 4-0 we stay up.

I think that is all of the outcomes?

Anyway, we will lose 1-0 is my prediction with all of us wearing West Ham shirts and preying for a Richarlison masterclass.

    Relegation battles are usually exciting.

This one is more of a slow-motion car crash.

Nevertheless I will be hoping we get away with this shambles and somehow survive.

The odd thing is it is still actually in our hands despite being in the bottom three. If Villa win we need to beat Arsenal by a margin of two goals greater than theirs. Extremely, extremely unlikely, but we aren’t in a position where we can be relegated regardless of our result.

I think if Villa win, that pretty much kills our chances of staying up, because of that 2 goal lead they in affect have over us. If we beat Arsenal it'll only be by a goal, or two at the absolute maximum. No way are we ever going to Arsenal and winning big.

No, our only hope is Villa fail to win and we better their result. Win if they draw or draw if they lose (which if it is going to happen, I suspect will be how it unfolds).

We'll get thumped 5 nil as Arsenal ramp up cup final preperations and we wilt in the summer sun.

The permutations are irrelevant because this is obvious.

It'll be most likely the same under performing line up as always. I think West Ham will beat Villa but can't see us getting anything at all unless Mullins is brave and makes bold changes, can't see it happening though.

I don't think it's out of the question that we will get a point. I don't see us winning as I don't see us scoring. However I think it highly likely that AV will win and really can't see them losing. If AV are 2 up at half time, I think we will just cave-in as usual. Bournemouth will probably win too. Games against teams with nothing to play for on the last day of the season are always easier but as we have seen over the last week, when those games are played in 20+ degrees with no fans in the stadium to let down or kick their arses, it becomes very very obvious which team has something to play for and which team couldn't give a flying ****. We sneaked wins against dead ducks norwich and disinterested newcastle, but lost to motivated WHU and full strength Citeh after defeat and a kick-in from Guardiola. We needed Arsenal to win last night, and they didn't even have a single shot on target. Not one. If only Citeh had played their reserves as last week after winning at the w/e, and we had lost by just one, our prospects would be different.

The one upside of Arsenal winning against Villa (clutching at straws) is that they literally have nothing to play for in the league now.

Their only hope of European football next season lies with the FA Cup Final next weekend - hoping again in vain that they rest a few key players.

I completely agree, it’s just technically speaking it’s in our hands to stay up but what we’d potentially need to do if villa win is fairly implausible.

But at least we aren’t in Bournemouth’s position, whatever they do may not be enough.

Well we need a miracle pure and simple. But I will concur with the majority and say if DeeKnee is the focal forward we're f u c k e d. We wasted two shirts last night even before we had kicked a ball in Pereyra and Cleverly. What on Earth were they thinking. No three if you add the crocked pie eater up top. If Sarr had timed his runs better when he switched with Deeney he would of been in a foot race with the defence, Welbeck got in behind just with a simple ball in behind the defence. It's not rocket science. I, as have so many have been crying out to utilise our pace up top especially after watching West Ham beat Chelsea. Moyes handed us the formula did we take it, did we bollox. The Hammers used Antonio perfectly and have done ever since. Jesus how many goals has he scored since the restart?
So if we dont give Welbeck and Sarr the chance to stretch their legs against Arsenal I will surely have a breakdown. The balls forward don't even have to be of great quality as long as they hit the space between their back three and wing backs. Get Doucs from midfield to back them up and maybe, just maybe we can cause them a few problems. There is always hope when David Luiz is in the lineup.
So in conclusion if DeeKnee starts were doomed. Pereyra, Cleverly ditto. We must have a young midfielder who can run about and compete more than these two and Chalobah! Desperate times call for desperate measures. Our tactics of trying to hit DeeKnee don't work even when he's fit. So change it and have ago with pace. I'd rather go down having a real pop at Arsenal than try and get lucky result as we did Norwich and Newcastle.

The reality is unless villa are losing 2 or 3 nill at half time and Bournemouth are losing (so then it would make sense to protect a draw) we have absolutely nothing to lose by trying to chuck the kitchen sink at Arsenal. We won’t, but I’d love to see us go completely gung-ho against a side with nothing to play for. We have to beat them by three clear goals if villa are winning so what would be the point in not at least trying. Give us fans at least one entertaining game before we go down.
