Today was a huge test of the character of this side. In the four games prior to the Bournemouth, they'd generally performed well but only had the point against Fulham to show for it, and I thought the result two weeks ago threatened to knock the stuffing out of them. But they've obviously put it behind them pretty quickly, put a lot of hard work in during the international break, and shown that distinctive spirit that Javi has instilled.

For the record I don't think Wolves are all that, and I think they will find it harder as the season draws on, but this is still a very good result.

Great to see Gerard starting, Femenia and Masina slotting in with ease in the full back positions, Wilmot making his PL debut, Quina on the bench. So much to be positive about!

Eric Idle, Clint Mansell, Robert Plant, Edward Elgar, Sue Lawley, Luke Skywalker, can you hear me? Your boys took a hell of a beating!

Horns fade away after a good start? They’re having a laugh.

We're lauded for playing two up front when really Deeney & Gray are both so limited in their own respects we've HAD to start them together as they're ineffective alone. Step forward Isaac Success...

His hold up play was excellent, gets in behind with space, wins headers. It just shows what a difference being able to play one up top effectively does, we haven't had a striker capable of doing that for three years now. It's a great option to have, we can go 2 up to when needed but with Gerard, Pereyra, Hughes, Capoue, Doccoure, Chalobah & Cleverley as midfield options, it'd be best to have a formation with more midfielders IMO.

Capoue was fantastic today and as others have said POTS so far.

Masina looks a good fullback but Nyom, Zeegelar, Parades & Faraoni were all super exciting to start with too till all their frailties were exposed so I'm cautious to say he might be Holebas's replacement!

Huddersfield, Newcastle & Southampton have all been pretty woeful this season and on paper apart from Cardiff are the four poorest teams in the division, really could be a great chance to make it 4 wins in a row and set the targets for the rest of the season! I hope Newcastle win next week otherwise their obvious first win of the season will come against us...

    COYH!

In fairness they're correct that the ref was hopeless, some of the decisions going our way were hilarious.

Great win against a very good side, though they didn't show it today - mostly our making but frankly they were so outnumbered in midfield. Their manager should have put another body in there, very bizarre decision.

Success should start every game up front on his own from now on if it means we can have 5 midfielders, absolutely superb, did so much donkey work to create space for others (though he's far from a donkey himself). Not sure on Masina, think he's going to be a liability at some stage but looked okay today.

Side note: I've been watching Moutinho for years now and I saw nothing today to change my opinion that he's always been one of the most overrated players in the world. Could any Wolves fans reading PLEASE tell me what he excels at, he always looks completely average.

Need to keep the feet on the ground. Today showed we can play one up front. But it wont always work.
Feel a bit sorry for Gracia now. Surely he wont have a clue what his best 11 are after today. Don't think any of us do really.
There will be games where 1 up front wont work and some will want 2 back. And vice versa. If Gracia can work it out and change formations depending on opposition and it means we win games he will be a tactical genius.

After today my view is that you cannot drop: Capoue, doucoure, pereyra, Hughes or deolefeu which only leaves room for a 1 striker system. Out of our current crop of strikers Success is by far the most well suited to playing as a sole striker. As he’s been with the club for 3 seasons now it’s very easy to forget that he’s still in his early 20s!

Aside from maybe kabasele coming back in for mariappa I wouldn’t change anything about the team for the Huddersfield game.

The first 45 mins was probably the best 45 mins we’ve played since under the pozzo era, we looked seriously champions league quality

The curse of Manager of the Month strikes yet again.

Javi fails to win any of his five matches after winning the accolade until the next recipient is announced, and then duly beats him.

Also a massive well done to Javi for getting it tactically spot on today. He recognised that if you out-number and out-muscle Neves and Moutinho in midfield, you stop Wolves. 10/10 from the gurning genius.

Why change a defence which has kept a clean sheet. Mariappa had a good game and Kabs has been a liability recently.

Excellent win today, the first half performance at times was top top quality.

I think 4-2-3-1 is a formation we have to keep, as our midfield is soo good and today we didn't even have the option of Clevs and Chalobah. Success has improved greatly and seems to have a football brain this season how he links play.

Arguably one of the best results and a shock based on current form and the BBC come up with this

Anyone mentioned the sequence of play involving 30+ passes at the end of the first half, which resulted in a weak Doucoure shot. Absolutely sublime.

Still not lost wearing the green kit. Spurs in the cup was a DRAW!

Delofleoueu was brilliant. Somehow i feel we've played that well before but not had the class in the final 3rd.

Can't see us going 442 soon. But if we want to, we can.

I get fed up with the BBC comments on us - as always -"Watford very very physical at both ends of play" - makes us sound dirty which we are not.
Deeney is a very important squad player. It says good things about our squad when he is no longer an automatic shoe in for a place. But there are going to be times when he delivers and we are suitably impressed.

Fair play to the Wolves fans based on those links to the comments on their forums, pretty much all highly complimentary.... however I d0 think that is mostly down the quality of our performance today (as opposed to Wolves fans being particularly level headed) and I think any opposition fan would struggle not to praise us after that. We’ve had results against bigger clubs, and results in games like against Palace when it could’ve gone either way, but today was one of the most compete performances I’ve ever seen from us.
