My concern is that the club appoint you in a full-time role to stop you from breaking the secret code.

    'Literally'? Tut, tut.
We have been here before, and I agree it can be frustrating. But we don't know the extent of Watford's efforts. What we do know is they have a habit of operating as quietly as they can in this noisy world. Maybe there are all sorts of irons in fires. But, I would guess, they generally want to drive a hard bargain so that deals make good business sense and so these deals often fall apart or get outbid. They cannot do a Fulham or an Aston Villa and whip out another £100,000,000 or whatever and pay over the odds. It is evident (last close-season?) that they find it difficult to operate like this but have no choice.
I do think that maybe some of the players who appeared inadequate in the Prem. might well do quite well in the Championship, so, maybe, we don't need to do all that many deals.

There is one thing being overlooked with all this who stays who goes who needs to stay who is surplus, etc.

Its not uncommon for a new manager with (hopefully) fresh ideas to improve some players' performances and abilities shown before. Just saying.

I'm a bit late to this but....

Goes - mainly based on what I would do in their situation

Estupinan - Top rated La Liga defender isn't going to drop down to Championship
    Doucoure
Del - Leaves on loan, or proves his fitness then leaves permanently
    Pereyra -
Kabasele - With the Euros on the horizon, if someone in one of the big leagues shows interest he'll push for a move
Sarr - He's a Top 10 club player, just can't see him being here at the end of the window
Capoue - If the deal is right

    Dross we need to shift
Femenia - 'He's a decent footballer, but he's not a defender' Spot on
Navarro - Waste of a signing
Cleverly - Will be on too much money for what he adds to the side
    Pusetto - Same as Navarro
Sinclair - Can we try break him up and sell him for scrap like an old Cortina

Forwards - at least 2 need to be moved on
Gray - Stays, who is going to realistically pays his wages
    Deeney - 50/50
Success - Can't see any takers
Peneranda - Likely to be punted off on another loan but I think he's worth keeping
Welbeck - If he's got a release clause and anyone meets it he leaves. Played for Man UTd, Arsenal and England will think he doesn't want to be in the Championship, rightly or wrongly.

    Which leaves

    GK - Foster, Bachmann
    RB - Janmaat, Nkagia
    CB - Wilmot, Cathcart, Dawson,
    LB - Masina
    RM / RW -
CM - Chalobah, Hughes, Dele-Bash, Quina,
LM / LW - Pedro, Sema, Peneranda
CF - Gray, Welbeck, Deeney, Success

In that scenario we need another 5 players capable of playing first team games at a minimum - CB, LB, CM, RW

That front line on current form is very depressing.

And I think Welbeck will go.

No wonder the club are really keen to keep Sarr and have Suarez.

Ah Forgot Suarez. I think he will be one who does stay.

Unlike others if we play 2 up front I think Deeney and Gray will score goals. If we don't both are virtually redundant and costly

    Ngakia ? Wilmot Estupinan

    Grimes Hughes

    Sarr Quina Pedro

    Back up

    Bachmann

    Kiko Dawson Kabasele Masina

    Chalobah Dele-Bashiru

    Fessi Cleverley Sema

    Murray/Perica

    Still leaves us with

Parkes Navarro Janmaat Cathcart Sierralta Penaranda Success Gray and maybe Deulofeu, if reports of him not having any buyers because of fitness concerns is true.

Squad of 31, 32 if you include Deulofeu.

    Then Selling

Doucoure, Capoue, Pereyra, Deeney, Welbeck and maybe Deulofeu (see above)

Next purchase has to be a starting 11 CB.
Then I would say another CDM/CM as we are too light there at the moment
If the right option presents itself to the club, then another winger also.

Obviously outside of selling those above, looking at the rest of the squad, you would imagine that some of those who squad players would also be gone.

I can't remember if I've already posted this, but has the social media girl gone?

She's a guest if the desert island ****s podcast and it's reminded me how irritating she is. I feel sorry for anyone stranded on an island with her.

Edit: She talking about how all her Exes are ****s. (Check the bottom of your shoe)
One person she would want on the island is her 4/10 ex as it would remind her why she dropped her standards, following her mum's advice to go for an ugly guy so that she'd be treated better as they would be more appreciative of her and she's be the better looking one.

    Vile human.

Regardless of gender anyone who says 'all my exes are c****' should be avoided like the plague. It basically means they've never been able to make a genuine human connection in any of their relationships. We all come across the occasional bad apple but to have a negative view of all your exes is pretty extreme.

Having the transfer window open a month into the season is mental. It should be 'slammed' shut at least a week before a new season starts.

Agreed but last year the English window closed before the season started and other countries' windows kept going for another few weeks, inhibiting English clubs in the market. This seems like an overcorrection.

We have so far earned ~40m from player sales (Estupinan, Foulquier and Doucouré).

    We should look to sell:
    Deeney (5m)
Capoue (4m) - I don't want to sell him but he seems to want out
    Pereyra (10m)
    Pussetto (7m)
    Deulofeu (25m) - ditto Capoue

That's a further £51m, taking us to £91m incoming. We needed to sell about £60m worth of players to make up for lower income this year. That should give us £30m to spend, plus a reduced wage bill, whilst retaining the likes of Hughes, Sarr and Suarez (and maybe even Welbeck). Spend that money right on 5 or 6 signings and we can build a squad good enough to challenge for promotion.

Will the last person to leave turn the lights off and make sure the utilities have been paid for out of the sale of Pedro. We can reform as West Herts and be a proper football club again.

Pozzo model. Get used to it.

    Prediction:
So many of the players who have been left out of the squad will be warming to the idea of leaving. Say we need to make another 40 million. It'll come to near deadline day and teams will panic buy. Deeney will go to WBA, Pererya back to Italy, Deulofeu to Napoli etc. That's job done- 40+ million in the bank and huge savings on wages.

The problem we now have is all of the other players that were left out and given the impression they would leave. This results in the likes of Suarez, Hughes, Capoue, Sarr, maybe even Dawson, Femenia and Masina being annoyed and wanting out. Pozzo then caves to player power and we're left with exactly the same squad we've seen so far. Mid-table beckons.

It's all good though, as Gino nets over £100 million in transfer fees. Clappers rejoice.

Am interested to see what those with a more positive outlook think it'll look like.

We will lose anyone who can be sold and they will be replaced with a mix of Udinese fringe players and old, crap duds.

Agreed. We certainly won't be paying a fee to replace anybody. Most of the decent free-transfers have probably been snapped up too.

I predict next weekend we see the likes of Deeney, Sarr, Capoue, Hughes etc line up for us against the Scum. What proceeds is a 5-0 loss as part of a big FU to the club before they leave
