Maureen in the canteen , used to court a gentleman who once played as striker for his local Sunday team , perhaps Maureen could fill the Deeney role ?

She is currently contracted to the club till 2022 when she retires, so there shouldn’t be a problem with the FA in transferring over her dinner lady contract to a footballers contract as they are all effectively under the same umbrella.

Not sure whether she ll be allowed to play with a hair net or whether that s like jewellery , it has to be covered by an Elastoplast. Any referees on here who can confirm either way ?

The title should be who will start up front alongside Gray.
It isn't an option that is going to happen this weekend or indeed any game, unless it would be a dead rubber but I would like to see Cassidy given a go, regardless of how young he is.

Palmer's played every position on the pitch. Why not shove Kabasele up front and see how it goes. If it don't work out put him in goal and shove Foster up front. You lot have no vision.

It's testament to how well Deeney has done this season, as he seems a vital component in the team. Over the past couple of seasons you could not say that of him.

Therefore it's so frustrating, he did a stupid thing and has now got a suspension which is going to last for almost 4 games.

It cost us a positive result against Arsenal for sure, but we still managed 3 points against Huddersfield, thanks to Gerry.

But, even though Deeney is not prolific, he is so influential on the pitch and brings a lot of our forward play together. Without him, there is a hole and I don't see anyone stepping up to fill that void, not even for a sort time.

Without Pererya and Deeney, we are bringing in Success and Sema. With all the best will in the world, these players are only really of Championship standard.

Right now we have to rely on the mercurial skill of Deulofeu in order to score. We looked short of scoring potential against Huddersfield, and if that carries on against Southampton and Wolves, it could really damage our chances of winning those two very important matches.

I would say Southampton is a must win, if we are going to finish 7th. For them, it's a very important match as their manager is demanding a response after Newcastle as they are still only 5 points above the drop.

It's not going to be an easy match, like the last three opponents have been. Hopefully we'll still have enough about us to win, but Gray needs his shooting boots and Success/Sema have to step up.

But that's as good as it gets - "alright" (at a push). It was also against one of the worst sides in Premier League history. Sometimes you have to accept a player just isn't very good, and Sema definitely just isn't very good.

Gray needs to improve massively when he's starting games. He's useful coming on against tired legs with his work rate and bit of pace, but from the start when he doesn't have that advantage his lack of general ability and composure on the ball is all the more obvious.

Unfortunately he's just not a naturally gifted, Premier League level footballer. That's not to say he can't be effective, but he's never going to suddenly have a good first touch, play consistently decent, simple passes, or not scuff/mishit his shots etc. on a regular basis.

I don't understand the criticism Sema gets on here. We all know he's never going to be a regular in our starting lineup, but we're not Man City - clubs at our level can't afford to be stacked with quality talent sitting on the bench or in the reserves. So whilst Sema isn't the greatest footballer in the world, and won't be beating on Javis door to start every game, he does the job he was bought in to do - be a cheap (I'd say his fee of £1.8m is a bargain for a PL squad player in this day and age) and unspectacular squad player to fill in when needed, which he does.

What is the job he does though exactly, in terms of his on picture performances? He's another that runs about a lot but has very, very minimal ability and attacking productivity bar the odd few moments. He spends most of his time on the pitch slowing down our attacks with his inability and lack of pace to beat his man, or desperately trying to bundle through players.

I do think we should expect and target higher quality than Sema at this point, yes, especially if we have ideas of solidifying ourselves as top half challengers for more than just one season. To me he has looked Championship quality at best, and that's possibly pushing it. A squad player still needs to be fit for the level and able to step in and perform, but he looks repeatedly way out of his depth.

Yes, I'd agree he's Championship quality - because a club at our level can't afford to have the strength in depth to have PL quality players sitting around not getting game-time. Looking at the clubs "our level" (Bournemouth, Palace, Newcastle, Southampton etc), they're all in much the same boat. Schlupp, Stanislas etc aren't probably rated very highly by their fans and aren't starting PL quality, but they do the same job as Sema, it's just unfortunate that he's had to play as much as he has. Next season we could have Lukebakio or Cucho to likely take Semas place which will hopefully see an upgrade in quality, but I believe the Pozzos made the right choice in how they've planned the squad. There's more pressing concerns for the summer if not, however (CB, replacements for key first-team players who are sold etc)

Doucs replacement, CB, RB, left winger.

I think whoever is deemed the worst of Success or Penaranda goes out on loan, the other stays. Lukebakio is added. Cucho is interesting. Is he advanced enough to play in the EPL, or does he need another loan spell.

Cucho is more developed and comes across as more mature than Lukebakio. Cucho's numbers are extremely similar to Deeney's (As well as the same type of role) and whilst Lukebakio is decent he's the lesser developed of the two and needs another year on loan.

Cucho is a far better player than Lukebakio. And more suited to the PL and our style. Cucho is capable of filling Deeney’s role, whereas Lukebakio is more of a Deulofeu type.

Wouldn’t be hugely surprised if Lukebakio was sold as I imagine he will have some relatively big suitors. And the club accounts have shown that we kinda have to rely one one big sale every summer to function financially. Of course, Doucoure would be expected to be that ‘big sale’ - but I imagine the club have a price in mind for him and will insist it is met. I don’t think it’s cut and dried that anyone will pay what we want.

While we have the modest resources that we currently do, Watford will never be spending big on squad players. Nor should we. And finding PL quality on the cheap is very very hard. Big Ken has shown enough to not be written off just yet.

I think Sema just needs to be taught how to utilise his attributes in the best way possible. Other players have said he’s quick and powerful and we are yet to see that. But we have a coach who is more than capable of getting the best of him in the long-term.

Limited as he is, I have decided Success should start as he can hold the ball up and get the team playing further up the pitch.

Doesn't it depend on how WW set up?
If they sit as deep as Saints then I'd go with Isaac,as there was no space for Gray to run into last night, minute two notwithstanding.
If they come at us then I'd go with Gray.
As the former seems to be their preferred method I'd plump for Isaac and bring on Gray in the latter stages.

I'm beginning to think Deeney's red card is going to cost us 7th spot, even if we manage to beat Wolves on Saturday.

The Arsenal defeat and the Southampton draw have cost us dear, those 5 points probably would have seen us walk 7th spot, but Hey Ho it aint over yet!

Deeney mentioned in an interview that he beats Sema in sprints in training, so he's certainly not a quick winger.

Ken has already paid for his transfer fee via his goal, assists and handful of busy sub appearances.

He's fun, because he's as likely to give you a comedy mistake as bundle into a good position and make something happen.

The problem with him is that in our system, he offers even fewer defensive cover than Holebas, which isn't due to work rate, but discipline. He can be coached to improve on that.

I've no beef with him because he's doing his best, even if that does leave him wanting somewhat.

Sema is absolutely woeful and takes up an overseas spot in the squad. Amrabat was far superior so if it is a hard running backup winger we need we should have kept that mug.

I respectfully disagree. Ken has already had more of an impact in fewer games, simply by being more direct.

That's right......not even booked. Yet our season has been derailed for an incident not even as bad as this today.

The inequality in football makes me sick.
