With the European window set to close a week Monday, this week is massive for us.

The likes of Capoue, Pereyra, Suarez and Deulofeu would all want European moves.

That means, that this is it, it’s this week or not at all.

I can imagine Gino will want to bring in some European players of his own. I would like to think, any business in and out will start happening early Monday/Tuesday.

I think if those above are still here come Friday, with our financial situation, (we won’t be bringing anyone in until those are gone) then it’s a good possibility they stay.

Obviously things can still happen Sat/Sun/Monday. However generally Saturday tends to be a wash with games going on, so leaves 48 hrs to rush players in and out. I don’t think Gino will want to play it to close to Monday.

Either way, lots should be happening this week.

I can see a Deulofeu and potentially Capoue attracting PL interest.

I still think most of the players speculated about could go.

I’m not reading that much into Sarr playing today meaning he stays. It means there is a glimmer of hope he stays and that he seems like a really good bloke.

    What’s happened to Welbeck?

  8. Will be interesting to see, I suspect not. Even if he were fit now to come back to training it's going to take a month before he's match ready.

I think Sarr playing is pretty positive.

To me it says that there is currently no interest the club considers likely to result in a viable bid and that Sarr is happy and willing to play.

Obviously that doesn't stop someone like Man U coming in with an unexpected bonkers bid later on.

I think Sarr has his head screwed on and thinks another season actually playing and continuing to make a name for himself with us is what he needs right now. Because if he goes to one of the big clubs right now he is likely to be just a bench warmer at best, which could see his career stagnate or even fizzle out, like so many other young players have done who succumbed to the overtures of big glamorous teams in the past.

Whereas if he stays a big fish in a small pond with us for another season he will probably become an even better player and either decide to stay with us when we win promotion or possibly move on to a bigger team at that point who will actually see him as a first eleven starter, not a bench warmer.

Well, it's been a quiet window for Santiago Blanco of Corbata Amarilla Deportes, but I'm sure things will heat up a bit with a week to go

Agreed. Capoue would walk into several EPL teams.

I sort of hope someone does come in for him (with a decent offer). I don't see him playing another game for us, even if we get promoted this season. He's far too good, at this stage of his career, to be playing for a team at the lower end of the EPL.

I wouldn't disagree, but maybe we could get a good month out of him in the shop window before the January sales, and an inflated bid comes in then.

I highly doubt he'll fit into Ivic's 'has to want to play for the team' group considering he's been talking about leaving even before lockdown.

Unless he has a massive change of heart which, let's be honest, isn't going to happen.

I’d like to see Manning and Iorfa come in this week. Can’t see Gimes coming now we have Garner.

If he stays, I'm sure he'll want to play to prove his fitness to suitors for January. Could he convince Ivic to give him a game that way though?

Think now Suarez has gone (****), we should really be targeting a striker. We have a lot of good forward players but not a clinical goal scorer. Dream would be Adam Armstrong. Assuming finance wise a loan would be better, so Vydra or one of the Brighton lads (Gyorkes or Zeqiri) would be nice.

Vydra seems to be playing now, think he's made an impression of Dyche, so I don't think we can get him.

Karlan Grant would be my first choice as the WBA links seem to have gone cold.

Or somehow coax Louie Sibley out of Derby. Derby are not going up this year, we would look to be his quickest route to the Prem through The Champ if nobody from The Prem will buy him yet.

Agreed, I just don’t know if they want the Prem. They both seem to want out of the UK, based on reports. I’m sure if the European window closed and they are still here then they will push for a Prem team, but I don’t think it’s their first choice.

It’s now or never for Valencia with Capoue, Napoli and Fiorentina with Deulofeu.

Suarez is off on loan to Granada

Pereyra you would think will be at Udinese by the end of the week, or another club. At least he will be gone from here.

Turkish teams seemed to be linked with Welbeck, but all has gone quiet. Be interesting to see if he’s still with us once the European window closes. If he is, I would dare to say it’s more likely he stays than goes at that point.

I agree with you but can’t imagine we’ll bring in a striker unless one or two of Deeney, Gray and Welbeck leave.

I think we need somebody a bit more experienced than Sibley. Looks a good player, but young strikers go through growing pains and inconsistency, which we already have enough of through the team with the likes of Ngakia, Wilmot, Quina, Joao Pedro, TBD etc.

If we’re going to spend money in a forward area, I’d probably prefer somebody who is more likely to consistently get goals at this level, even if their eventual ceiling is lower than Sibley.

More than happy if two of those stay - although we need to renegotiate Welbecks contract.

Totally agree. Murray has been very disappointing and I cannot see how he will force his way in. If Suarez goes, which looks a formality he will, we will need Deeney and Welbeck. I also agree with renegotiating their contracts. Have it heavily loaded with promotion bonuses, for both of them, or whatever it takes. We're not going to sign two better players than these in this market, so we've got to do all we can to keep them, but on terms more affordable to the league we are now in.

  28. Providing Sarr stays we have enough good forwards at this level imo. We will need to invest if/when promoted.

Which positions do people think we’ll strengthen. I think the consensus (depending of course on outgoings) was an LWB, a CB (maybe Troost-Ekong or Iorfa, but maybe a left-footer instead) and an extra CM. But I wonder if Sema’s performance will see a new first team LWB now as less of a priority or see us more content with a cheaper backup option. With Hughes coming back in soon, the midfield is already looking a little crowded but a DM who is a cut above to replace Capoue would obviously be ace, even though Garner’s looked good.

Then we end up with a 30 year old and a 33 year old on huge wages and probably a couple of years. Think that's a bad idea personally.

Looks like WTE is coming soon, I don't know if that defender Bonifazi is joining our Italian friends quite yet, but WTE didn't come off the bench, so didn't pick up a silly injury, which is what we like to hear.

I don't know if it's because the scum were particularly ****, or whether it's a case of Wilmot getting more up to speed (he was injured at the end of last season let's not forget), but he played very well yesterday, nothing got past him and he was also assured on the ball. Left wing-back the most important role we have to fill imo

Not saying he won't because he probably will, but where are these 'Suarez has gone'/'Suarez is going to Granada' claims coming from? Am I missing something?
