Not another thread to discus who should be sold / released. It's probably quite easy to say a number who wont make the squad. But which players are you feeling will be sold, that ideally we would keep. Because (you could argue differently about Ighalo) we've not really sold any players that our managers have wanted to keep so far. I'm not convinced any of the top players will go. They are on Prem league wages, only the top 6 are clear step ups from WFC. Teams outside of the Prem league will struggle to afford the transfer fees (outside of the very big sides). I'm partly saying this to convince myself Doucoure will still be with us for the season ahead! Despite the feelings of some on his performances nearer the end of the season, to me he looks a class act and the best player we have - absolutely perfect from the Premier League and would be massively missed if he leaves (regardless of how good our midfield looks on paper)
One argument against your central point is that moving earns a cut, for the player & also the agent. So sideways is fine. Anelka moved virtually every season, as did a big Italian #9, name escapes me. Maybe wage inflation has reduced the importance of this source of income. As a Pythonesque aside, the autowriting function offered, whilst I was typing in Anelka, An elk. Sadly not Ann Elk.
Yeah I guess it depends how much extra money you're talking about and how much the player enjoys playing where they are. Seems easier for Premier league also-rans to keep hold of their better players nowadays though unless heavily chased by the bigger sides.
If our big name players won't leave because nobody will want to pay the wages, who the **** will pick up Djedje on Premier League wages?
