What Next If The Season Gets Voided?

Discussion in 'The Hornets' Nest - Watford Chat' started by Hogg-DEENEY!!!, Mar 19, 2020.

  1. Anyone heard anything about season tickets for next year?

Early bird usually starts getting announced around this time of the year.

Presume there will be some credits to be provided for current season ?

I presume the clubs won't dare to ask fans for money when they might not be working etc ?

As much as the club won’t want to get caught out by being unprepared when the time comes, would be an absolutely tone deaf move from any club to be talking about such things right now.

You won’t be surprised to hear Newcastle took payments for 20/21 season tickets from their fans last month...

Until they know when the next season will start they can't possibly retail season tickets. They ŵill need the cash so as soon as they can they will sell them. After all its probably £4,000,000 cash flow, so they will definitely need it as soon as practicable.

I doubt any current season ticket holders will be offered a refund if the last five games are voided. Instead they are more likely to get an extra discount on renewal. At this point the club cannot afford to pay out cash.

Newcastle would sell season tickets for 21/22 and beyond if they did that right now. Newcastle fans need to know their place of moaning is protected for years to come.

It mystifies me how they can afford individual match prices, let alone season tickets. According to every bloody geordie, the entire north-east is heartlessly forgotten by us greed driven Tory types in the south and cruelly starved of every basic necessity that is needed to support life.

As an aside, mate of mine’s brother in law has a law practice in Gloucestershire. Did a corporate hospitality thing for clients at Cheltenham Festival. Of a table of 10, 4 are now dead due to Covid-19. Grim.

    That is very grim.

It's not even hindsight. At the time it seemed bizarre that the festival went ahead.

I'm glad the FA made the right call and postponed the season before the government shutdown. Would they have done the same if Arteta and a couple of players hadn't tested positive? I guess we will never know!

Sad news - those who went don't like you saying it but definitely didn't help that went ahead.

Teams are going to go bust without kicking another ball. You'd think, as duty of care, forcing the continuation of a season just to ensure that 3 teams are relegated on top of this (given we know the league winners) is simply bonkers. In empty stadiums as well so they don't even see their demise before their club go bust.

I don't think anything will happen until the social distancing is stopped which might be a while.

The Government won't let there be one rule for most of the country and another for football clubs ( I mean football has had a bad rap as is it !)

Players , coaches and other staff are human so will be as worried about passing this virus on as much as anyone else.

How will they control the potential of fans turning up anyway?

At some point people (the one's that still have jobs!) will have to go back to work, and that includes football players. We may not have a working vaccine for years, and possible never at all! we will all have to adjust to a new working environment. Play the games behind closed doors in June, the rest of us will have to go back to work by then, so should the footballers

I'd much rather take my chances on a football pitch outdoors than a poorly ventilated train and open plan office.

People will need to back to work yes but people also need to stay fit and healthy as best as possible.

Ceratainly the Government won't be rushed into a decision

Footballers will generally be very healthy, any that happen to catch it won't be affected much from it. Even if they can't isolate themselves from other players, they can still just maintain social distancing measures elsewhere, which shouldn't be too difficult for them.

For as long as people with no underlying health conditions are dying from the virus, then they cannot play surely? Are we really saying the game is more important than human life?

Perhaps they will have to ban tackling and make football a non-contact sport for the time being. Maybe we should make it one or two touch football and no dribbling, then teams will have to pass it around in order to score goals.

Of course this will never happen, but it is probably the only way that football could restart relatively safely?

I presume they wouldn't be allowed to visit family and friends like everyone else unless they are told otherwise?

Sooner or later the virus is going to hit the refugee camps. There will be horror there, and probably re-entry of the virus into the UK. I'm not at all optimistic that football will resume this summer.

  30. Can the same be said about managers, coaching staff, ground staff, and everyone else who will still involved in closed door games? Bruce and Hodgson can’t be low risk for example.

What are the stats for that? It's probably far more likely that a player will suffer a career ending injury in a typical match than end up in an ICU from coronavirus, yet they play on regardless.

Managers and coaching staff of a certain age should probably try and maintain a couple of minutes distance from players, and then it won't be any different for them from what they experience when going for their current regular walks in the park.

Don't see why ground staff would need to come in to contact with any players.

The only people it'd be more difficult for of course would be the medical staff, but then it's no different from the typical situation for them anyway, and for matches at least they'll also be outdoors. If the games are all held in one or two stadiums then not many will be needed either.

How many players have died because of those injuries?

Whilst the survival rate from Coronavirus is still high, I’d say it not quite as high as the survival rate from a torn ACL.

As I say presume anyone involved in matches would have to stay away from anyone in the ouside world ?

Guess they are doing that now ..

Roy Hodgson for example might be fit and well but there might be someone he knows of someone the same age who is vulnerable?

Steve Bruce is only a couple of years older than our Nige.

I see David Moyes has been complaining about players won't be able to play games in quick succession.
