  1. if we win all our games we are champions, nothing muff can do about that

so if we fail it will be our own fault

True, but I would imagine that even the very best teams in the world would struggle to win 11 games in a row, so we should probably concede that unless something spectacular happens and we do it, then we are going to drop points at some point, and so are going to need teams round us to do the same.

We are the best team in the world. Shouldn't be beyond us.

Bloody hell here we go, more bitterness at Bournemouth. Can't we just accept that they are a decent side? How do ref decisions score them 74 goals? The media are interested because they are a very small club with a team of players largely from League 1 and 2 who are playing quality football and topping the league. Big surprise?

Exactly, I don't get all this Bournemouth hate. I can only assume that some are taking our recent loss there very personally.

Why wouldn't the media/neutrals be nuthugging them? Bournemouth in the Premier League is a new story. As for Boro, Derby, Norwich, Ipswich - no one outside their own fanbase cares about them getting promoted. They've all done it a bunch of times.

Indeed. As soon as Wilson went to ground they were up surrounding the ref asking for the red card.

They've had 8 red cards in their favour, twice as many as the next team, 11 penalties the highest in the division and only one against...... good team? lucky? cheating and pressurising ref?

    2 red cards.

So? It stands to reason that if they play good attacking football, which they do, they will win more penalties and have more players hacked down than other teams. You're having a laugh if you think there's some kind of Bournemouth conspiracy going on among the refs union.

Just try to enjoy the competition with good grace

It was difficult to enjoy the game with good grace at their place due to the refereeing display that night and the way they surrounded the ref to get Angella wrongly sent off

I don't think there's any conspiracy but before last night we'd scored more goals than Bournemouth so why aren't the stats in our favour like that?

So their attacking football is about 30% better than ours, and their defence is 4x as good as Middlesborough. And their play is twice as controlled and skillful than any other team in the division, that they draw in twice as many red card tackles.

I get that they play attacking football, which means that they will have more penalties for and red cards against. But the proportion for and against is completely disproportionate to what it should be.

A large part of this is probably luck. The rest is probably to do with an image, that they are hard working English underdogs who would never cheat, berate the ref or dive unnecessarily. When a team has momentum, especially through the media, the refs pick up on this. And the media would give twice as much attention to an unfair decision against B'mouth than they would to one for them.

Yeah ok I think it's all paranoid nonsense. You don't score 74 goals through luck. It's not about comparing them to us, it's about accepting that they will be one of our challengers and that they are punching above their weight. I just think it's all a bit bitter and sad.

I would get your point however are we not a good attacking side and get players hacked down a lot ? and before last night we had scored more goals.

Just seems they are getting the decisions, not saying they cheat but the way they get straight in the face of officials like Norwich doesn't sit well with me

Next set of fixtures look good for us on paper, quite a few of our rivals playing each other, only Bournemouth & us have a relatively easy fixtures, on paper, I hasten to add.

See post #1 on this thread.

Bmth have scored just 2 more than us and 4 more than Norwich - we're all good attacking Teams !!??

Why do we not have any ill feeling towards any of the other top 8 Teams ??

  25. miked2006

They are not 30% better at attacking than we are. They are certainly not as good at defending as Middlesborough are.

They are however significantly better at getting players in the referees face, playing for the foul and diving whenever the ball seems lost, than both these teams.

The odds are that the difference in penalties/ red cards comes from the latter point.

These decisions are not why Bournemouth are up there. They are a very good team with a manager who has drilled them to be very efficient. They deserve to be fighting for promotion.

But they have earned far more points than any other team that I have seen in the Championship this season, through diving or getting incorrect decisions for them. And they have lost the least amount of points, from the highlights I have seen, from dodgy decisions against them. The stats just seem to be a reflection of this.

They have been lucky with decisions this year, for whatever reason: luck, media opinions, getting in the refs face, diving or playing for a penalty or red card.

And they would probably be a couple of places lower if they hadn't have had this luck.

Can see Bournemouth winning the league to be honest.
Good run in with only Boro at home & Ipswich away for them potentially to drop points.
They've got Blackpool at home next sat to further improve their goal difference..

Battle will be for 2nd and key game for us is Forest away !. Think this one has gone under the radar..

Still fancy us to do it though !!!

    Saturday 14th March:
    Middlesbrough v Ipswich
    Norwich v Derby

    Tuesday 17th March:
    Derby v Middlesbrough

These would seem to be great fixtures for our cause, i.e. some teams (if not all through draws) will definitely be dropping points. BUT, someone will also be gaining points. I guess it's good that at least there are guaranteed dropped points. I wonder if it would be best that they all played different teams out of the top 8 with the opportunity to ALL drop maximum points.

I guess that it's better that there are at least guaranteed losses of points I suppose, where if they played other teams they could all win. But if they all draw then that would be super.

    I'll shut up now.

It's difficult to imagine Bournemouth not being top next Saturday, playing Blackpool at home. Hopefully Blackpool can keep it to only a few goals to help us out.

I'd be very surprised if we failed to beat Reading at home. We're pretty ruthless against teams lower in the league, especially at home. Reading also have a match midweek at home to Brighton (six-pointer for them) whom they'll probably reckon they have a better chance of beating. They'll probably have one eye on their replay against Bradford (whenever it'll be) also.

Middlesbrough should beat Ipswich. Both teams aren't in great form but Ipswich are pretty terrible away from home. Hopefully Ipswich can take a point.

Derby and Norwich - hopefully a draw, but at least one of them will drop points. Can see a Norwich win.

All things considered, there's a good chance of us finishing next week in second. Provided we beat Reading. Which we will.

No midweek game this week for the top 6

No midweek game for the top 6. Literally no midweek game.

NOT EVEN A FRIDAY NIGHT GAME.

After a few weeks of weekend and midweek games. What the deuce? I mean, what the actual deuce?

We've just moved to 4 teams on 66 points at the top. FOUR ACTUAL TEAMS ON 66 POINTS AT THE TOP.

Closest championship title run in ever. 10 games to go. everyone about to play each other. Of all weeks. Why now. Why have you forsaken us. Why now deprive us of 7 full days until our next fix. Until the next twist. Until the next vital installment.

And what have you left for us football. What have you actually left for us?

The Champions League? THE CHAMPIONS FLAMIN' LEAGUE?!

No. This will not do. This will definitely not do.
