I've been going to Watford for years now and I have to say for all the slagging off we do of each other, when it comes down to it we are excellent fans, and very loyal.

I was listening to talk sport a couple of weeks ago and that fat bloke Mikey Quinn was slating Watford fans for being quiet, the month he played for us he was awful, over weight and at the end of his career so no wonder he didn't he his name chanted. And in fact i think it did!

What other supporters would be cheering the managers name throughout a game they are loosing when there bottom of the league, what other supporters would cheer Henderson, a man with no goals all season.

Everyone bangs on about Liverpool and Everton supporters being the most passionate, what a load of rubbish, I went to both those games and I think they were holding a 90 minutes silence.

So I just want to say well done to everyone who goes along and shouts and screams and gets behind the lads, you make this club great.

    Thanks

Agree even the home support seems to be getting a bit better (still no great, but better) these days, our away support has never been terrible noise wise and we've had good and bad days this year, tbh im not really bothered what Mikey Quinn thinks, if aidy and the players said it then i would care. We have some of the most understanding fans and know we don't really have a right to be here and boothroyd performed a miracle to get us here so we wouldn't complain whatever, I remember last time under GT on the last day of the season when we were down with record low points whatever the score was yet it was one of the best atmoshpheres i remember at the vic. We haven't got the numbers of other prem teams e.g Everton and Liverpool, but we've got the passion of them.

Arthur criticising our support ? Never, give it a rest you're are boring.

You banged on about how there would be no noise at the arsenal game but you were WRONG big time. It was a very good atmosphere and you can't deny it.

but that the point. what you call good, the rest of english football would call quiet, our fans are famous for a lack of passion. it goes back years, and wont change. no matter how much you moan and deny it;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

this is getting just like the old boards someone posts a thread three or four replys later its turning into a squable chill out and just stick to answering the original thread.
as for the fans they are top this season deffinatley player of the season US..
the fans, we are all feeling down with the way things are going but we still keep making a noise home and away and thats when we are needed not just when where winning, myself i am very proud to be a watford fan this season
we all know we are punching well above our wieght this season but we are giving it our best shot and nobody can argue with that.

Arthur, your are right of course. We all know that the reason other grounds with awesome reputations for atmosphere have been quiet when we have visited them this season is to do with the reputation of the opposition, us.

But credit where its due, our boys have been better this season than we have for a long time. There are obvious exceptions, charlton and arsenal away for example, but then its hard to create an atmosphere when there is no audible reply from the home fans- a problem other fans have at the vic. Anyone who has sat in the vic road end this season will tell you that however loud you think it is in the rookery you can still barely hear it over there!

    Annoying

I find it so annoying that just because of some people that dont get into stuff at the vic just because they havent for years. I sit at the front of the rookery and im sorry but no matter how hard or loud i sing with peeps at the back few of the peeps around me join in. Except to rarely yellow army. Sitting down annoys me also home and away we should go into an away games standing and getting told to sit down for atmospheres sake not sitting down to begin with. At Tottenham ive been once for my mate who had a free ticket and everyone in park lane stand along with a bit of shelf side. Tis proper good. I have sat at the back of rookery and tis good but why is it not all like that? There are peeps at the front who would probs rather be at the back..

How about you fast-forward fifty years? You've got rickety knees, need a hip replacement and suffer from back pain. You've supported WFC all your life, had the same seat for donkeys' years and you want to be able to sit in it and support your team. But some selfish, thoughtless youth doesn't like sitting down and stands in front of you, arms wide and you can't see a thing.

If you think about it, you'll understand why it's not 'all like that'. That old man is not just someone spoiling the atmosphere; it's YOU in the future. Like sex, football wasn't just invented when YOU discovered it. There are people who came before you and have earned a sit down!

Yeah afanof i agree - it will be me in a couple of years time so all you youung pretenders - SIT DOWN SHUT UP, SIT DOWN SHUT UP. The bear will be nodding off during games in the 2009/10 season, so hush up little ones.

Good points afanof. However, very often the old men who have earnt a sit down are quite happy to let the youngsters stand and get into it, as they did when they were younger. It tends to be the middle aged, middle-class men in fingerless gloves that ask people to sit down because they've only been coming to football since they moved to a town with a football club for commuter reasons and dont have a clue about atmosphere, or tradition for that matter.
