What with West Ham's many issues and our recent resurgence, it's difficult to look past an away win, so naturally it'll be anything but. Nailed-on 2-2 draw. I feel like I'm in a minority in being very disappointed by Dunkirk? Far from being the worst film I've seen, I still found it to be a stale retelling of an epic true story, and a massive opportunity missed when you take into account the cast, budget, director etc.
One win, one draw and one defeat does not in my book make Gracia unbeaten. Unbeaten in the league - yes. However if we look at the progress - defeat to draw to win it means our next game should at least be a double digit win. Back on thread - I like Quentin Tarantino films but was disappointed with Inglourious Basterds
I was there too - that was so awful I've managed to entirely wipe it from my memory. Either that, or I meant to say unbeaten in the league under their new manager.
I was unsure of exactly how Nolan would be able to dramatise the event, and was extremely impressed by the result, myself. Soundtrack was great, ridiculous cast, even Harry Styles doing alright (!) and a masterful exercise in dramatic tension. My only complaint was sitting too close in the Imax thanks to being overruled by my mates' lack of awareness...
I'm with you. I thought it was tedious, overlong, completely dismissive of the efforts of the french, failed to give any sense of scale, had loads of pointless scenes, and no nudity. Awful.
We need to be careful hyping ourselves up too much. If you look at it one way 11 vs 11 we are yet to win under Gracia so lets see at the weekend if the result on Monday was a fluke or not.
Worst film I’ve never seen? The Mrs Browns Boys film. I know it’s bad and I’ve not seen a minute of it. Worst film I have seen? Green Street. Whoever thought Bilbo Baggins was a good cast for a hooligan... Worst film I’ve seen that I was led to believe was brilliant? The Hangover. Not even remotely funny. 0-2. Doucoure and Deeney. Bilbo Baggins to be seen stomping throughout Westfield at 5:30pm...
Re sh1te films, if I could live my life over again one of the many things I'd do differently is not bother to go and see The English Patient.
What about great books that have been made in to dreadful films? I'll start: Captain Corelli's Mandolin
I slept through a Level 42 concert once. An Australian film called 'Bran New Day' was a three hour flight I'll never get back. 4 - 2 'Orns
The worst film I have ever seen by far is the sickeningly awful Bridget Jones fulm. I dont know which one it was but i went as my girlfriend at the time made some promises in return. Even those promises kept didnt make up for the eyeball bleeding pain of that mushy rom com witchcraft *****.
And there's another thread for you - great miscastings of our time (excluding the above mentioned in every film he's been in). I would start with Di Caprio in "The Beach" - a film which would also feature in the "great books; crap film" thread.
Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher .... Reacher is 6' plus and built like a brick outhouse..Tom as much as I like some of his other movies isn't.
See above... Elijah Wood as a West Ham hooligan in Green Street. Beyond parody. I feel asleep for the whole World Trade Centre film a few years back. Who plays the lead? You guessed it.
The beach is really enjoyable up until the french girl gets her whammers out, then it all goes downhill imo. The soundtrack was good too. - Barry Norman, Film 2000
Room. I couldn't believe how people were talking up the film of that. About one ten thousandth of what the book was..
