    The clues were killing me.
    I stupidly asked Otter to let me know the identities of all the bad guys at the start of Day 2.
    Watching team good get half way there and then abandon a chain of thought that would have led them to kill an Evil had me shouting at the screen

    I don't seem to have the "admin" button that @nornironhorn does - @domthehornet may be able to help. I'll make sure it's sorted the next time the game's played so that there's more than one person to open up the graveyard.

    PO, I was so pleased you and @miked2006 came through at the end as you are two very good players at this. I thought you had it sussed yesterday - you seemed to be honing in on Norway - but then the messages scuppered you.

    Last year we did 2 werewolves, one was about this time last year and the other was in the beginning of July. When the dust has settled would everyone be up for another? However I would rather take part than run it again.

    Otter must have been laughing when i sent him a list on day 3 naming 2 of the evil, but then said that i've probably got it horribly wrong

    PO and NI nearly got poisoned, thankfully i saved the healing potion for HH

    When we were down to 5 or 6 I had no clue who was evil, it literally changed every half an hour or so

    Be interesting to get the keys to see what the dead were saying

    Dissection Part 2: the new roles:

    This are a breakdown of the messages I sent to the GUNSLINGER, POTIONEER and WEREPUPPY

    You are the village POTIONEER - this is a new role that no one else knows about.

    * You are on team GOOD.
    * At the beginning of the game you have two potions, one is a healing potion and the other is a poison.
    * You can only use one of the two on any given night, should you choose to use one PM me after the village has closed.
    * You must PM me your intentions between village closing and 11pm including if you don't intend to use any (while you still have them).
    * If you choose to heal someone you cannot poison the same person on a later date.
    * If you choose to poison someone, they will die irrespective of whether the guardian is visiting them or you choose the harlot who happens to be out and about.
    * If you choose to heal someone (including yourself) they (or you) will survive a werewolf attack on that night only.
    * If you choose to heal a wolf they will survive a lynching if voted on the next day.
    * If you choose to heal the traitor they will turn good and effectively become a witness!
    * Once your potions are exhausted you effectively are just another villager, use them well.
    * You are free to use either of the potions on yourself but obviously the poison will kill you and would be an entertaining read in my opening post in the morning!

    You are the village GUNSLINGER - this is a new role that no one else knows about

    * You are a GOOD player, but the seer will see you as EVIL.
    * No one else knows about your role, it is a new one on this forum.
    * You have a pistol with just a single silver bullet. You can use your bullet in one of two ways:

    1) If one night a wolf visits you AND you've not been protected by another good player you will automatically protect yourself this once with the silver bullet.
    + You have then used your single bullet therefore you can't shoot anyone else.
    + The wolf(wolves) don't know that you have one bullet therefore you may imply that you do to avoid getting eaten.
    + The wolf(wolves) will escape unharmed.

    2) However you may choose to use it in the day time phase on any day of your choice.
    + Simply PM me during the day to say that you want to shoot another player.
    + I will then add a message to the thread with something like: "OPTIMISTICHORNET SHOT [NAME]" and some gory detail after it.
    + If you chose a wolf, they will be killed instantly, you get the glory.
    + If you shoot the witness (if there is one), they will die.
    + If you choose any other good player or the traitor (if there is one) they will live but not be allowed to chat or vote any more that day.
    + If you inadvertently shoot the seer before their anonymous message is sent to me, their message will not be published that day.
    + If you shoot the guardian, they will permanently lose their power.
    + Your role at that point is somewhat compromised so it's up to you how you handle yourself after the shooting!
    + A shot good player will return to the game the following day.

    * If I call full moon after you have used your bullet I may give you another silver bullet, I will inform you if you do or don't.

    You are the WEREPUPPY - this is a new role that only the EVIL players know about.

    * You are EVIL.
    * You will be seen by the seer as GOOD while you are a puppy but EVIL if you become a mature wolf.
    * You don't have any nightly kill powers until you are a mature werewolf.
    * The traitor will only learn of your identity after you become a mature werewolf.
    * There are two ways where you can be promoted to a mature werewolf:
    1) I call a FULLMOON, you can make a kill that night, just PM me.
    2) You are visited one night by the ALPHA WEREWOLF, they will of course know your identity but you will not know theirs, you can make your first kill the *following*

    night.
    * If you are visited by the beta werewolf you will die, unless the Alpha also visits in which case the beta will die.
    * Once mature, if you choose someone protected that night they will live.
    * If you choose the same target as another wolf, you will be informed of each other's identity.
    * If you are visited by alpha after you are a mature werewolf, you will die (this would only happen if you matured via fullmoon)
    * If another player is in hospital that night, you cannot kill them.

    Day 1 Seer views Norway (result good), wolf message names Diamond good. Diamond lynched (GOOD)
    Night 1 Alpha goes for Meh! Meh out at PowerJugs, Guardian protects Meh; Beta kills cthulhu (GOOD)

    Before Day 2: 17, 13 good, 4 evil

    Day 2 Seer views Daft Row (result good), wolf message names Daft Row evil. Daft Row lynched (GOOD)
    Night 2 Alpha goes to Norway (wolfpuppy matured), Beta kills SLB (GOOD); Meh goes to steve harrow, Guardian protects HH24

    Night 5 Gamma kills Harrow Orn (GOOD) & OptimisticHornet (GOOD) - made new back up seer

    Before Day 6: 6, 5 good, 1 evil

    Day 6 Seer views PowerJugs (result good), wolf message names PO good. steve harrow lynched (VERY GOOD)
    Night 6 Gamma kills WaS.

    Before Day 7: 4, 3 good, 1 evil
    Day 7 No messages. NorwayHornet lynched (EVIL)

    GOOD WIN with 3 players remaining.

    Dissection Part 4: my brief notes during the action:

    Pre-event

    At first I was simply going to have the same characters as previously used but with the numbers we had, I was looking at either 2 or 3 wolves but I read something about a
    wolfcub somewhere and felt that it would be an interesting change, so I settled on 2 wolves and a cub, which I name as werepuppy. To balance things out a little I thought of a couple of additional powers for team good, I read something about a 'doctor' but the role didn't seem quite right for us but came up with a person who had some potions. I developed my own rules for this a little based on things I'd read; so I was going to call the character witch or wizard but settled on the name potioneer; basically a villager with one kill and one save, decided that it could either (1) save a good person from a wolf attack, (2) save a wolf from a lynching the next day, (3) convert the traitor to a good player (witness).

    Added gunslinger, my own idea, player would have one silver bullet could protect itself once from a wolf attack (but not kill the wolf) or use in a daytime anytime, would kill a wolf but hospitalise anyone else, including a traitor; if player were to shoot guardian or seer they would lose their power.

    Overall pretty balanced with 3 new roles. I also added a new option for the harlot, if they were unsure about visiting anyone or worried about staying at home, they could choose the pub cellar; caveat was that if they chose that option they would not be able to post or vote the next day.


    DAY 1 - Unbelievably the SEER HappyHornet in her first message calls out the one evil player to be seen as good, Norway Hornet is the WOLFPUPPY and I was rather hoping that ALPHA (Squibba) would pay a visit on night 1 as that would have promoted Norway to adult wolf with kill powers. In Squibba's message to me that night he said he was toying with either Norway or Meh; Meh was the harlot and was out as per his message to me a couple of hours earlier but the fact that the guardian also chose Meh was all unexpected. The lynching of Diamond did highlight the need for playing an anonymous game. The first night was mightily interesting unlike the day which is always difficult at the beginning.


    DAY 2 - Seer unsurprisingly went for one of about 3 possibles and called Daft Row; I didn't expect to get a wolf message until after the seer's and I did expect an evil call. I was expecting somewhat for him to call HappyHornet but not completely surprised by the Daft Row call. I had Daft Row as backup seer, but as the prime seer was still alive I decided not to call VERY GOOD. Night time, first PM was Guardian to protect HappyHornet, very shrewd but in the light of losing the back up seer this would finish off team good's chance of winning. Next beta called Steve Leo Beleck, a safe call IMO. Next PM Meh goes to visit steve harrow. Final PM, Alpha then chooses Norway, so it took an extra day to promote Norway. Traitor informed.


    DAY 3 - Seer goes for Moog, who happens to be the traitor. Seer hinted this would happen late in Day 2. It takes a while but Alpha throws a curveball, he messages Harrow Orn as EVIL, Harrow Orn is the guardian. This is good because moog was resigned earlier but now is fighting back. Opti PMs me about his bullet, he asks some matter of fact questions, and decides that he wants to shoot Harrow, which puts him in hospital (only known to Harrow, he loses his guardian powers permanently), all hell breaks loose in the village and moog goes one step short of admiting he's evil but doesn't reveal the role but has correctly named the seer as his parting shot. That was some day, I was now expecting the potioneer (WaS) to heal HappyHornet, he didn't disappoint but did toy with the idea to poisoning dom or nornironorn. Meh told me he wanted to go to nornironorn's, so he would die as he is beta. The other messages were from each of the three wolves, the first two beta and gamma chose HH24. Alpha assumed gamma would go for HH24 and decided that domthehornt would be their choice. Beta and gamma know each other, alpha knows gamma.


    DAY 4 - With Dom gone and the seer surviving another day, the chances of seer finding evil are much higher as I expect the seer to ask for Squibba. However seer asks for nornironhorn instead. With Squibba not usually around until later I know this is going to be an easy kill for the village. By the time Squibba first posts NIH has already received 5 from a possible 12 votes. In the end it's obvious the other wolves have to blend in a vote for NIH and once Squibba voted I knew no second message would come. By 1pm 9 had voted so I wanted to end the day to do some work. I'm expecting that Norway will go for HH24 again, can't predit Squibba but should go for an obvious good like Harrow or Opti - however both of those have lied to say they are protected; a bad kill would be one of CB/PO/PJ because they've escaped attention so far. I may expect WaS to poison Squibba tonight; if WaS poisons Norway I expect Good to win on Day 5.

    NIGHT 4 - It's not a surprise that the wolves both go to HH24, Norway was wary she could be protected again, but alas her run is over. It's also not a surprise that WaS, the only remaining good player with an ability used his poison; I was expecting him to go for Squibba but instead he goes for CB.

    STOCK TAKE BEFORE DAY 5: 9 remain, 2 wolves and 7 villagers. None of the villagers have any powers left but if voting goes for Norway tomorrow will be tempted to give another bullet to Opti as I think he will go for Squibba and we can end before the weekend.

    DAY 5: Expectly quiet, miked2006 has to leave early. Previous days' suspicions pile pressure on Squibba who's not online. I gave Squibba the chance to prep a message for the morning, it didn't come. Norway played the long game by voting for Squibba early. Voting result known by 1pm but 3 late votes go to PJ. Over-weekend give Norway 2 kills, he goes for Harrow knowing he's not protecting and guesses Opti is bluffing. I add steve harrow as backup seer.

    DAY 6: Little talk, steve harrow asks for PJ and then writes message an hour later. Little reaction. Norway writes a cheeky message to goad some of the players, it works but only serves to make PO look better. Voting starts swaying towards steve harrow. No surprise WaS killed that night.

    DAY 7: Very little talk, decide at 1pm once all four have been active to bring proceedings to an end, clearly the key votes would be PO's & PJ's as they were almost certainly seen as good. After a draw best of 3 dog race means Norway finally goes.

    Dissection Part 5: the write ups:

    Before play this was the area I thought would be the hardest, each morning the opening post and then the lynchings at the end.

    Day 1:
    Opening a bit weak, but opens the story and leave it at that.
    Lynching: Started a thread that the gallows weren't fit for purpose so start a storyline that the execution was botched.

    Day 2: Opening was easier now there was some action, first I decided to write up nornironhorn's kill of pub owner cthulhu, so conconcted a silly story about a charactter going into the bogs and not coming out, cthulhu following in finding the wolf and dying by the condom machine falling on his head. As Meh was out and Alpha & Guardian chose Meh, I decided on a story were the wolf tricks the guardian goes in the house and smashes and thrashes everything only to find Meh wasn't there, hence I added the bit about the Guardian finding part of a shredded note. It wasn't my intention to mislead that the guardian was useless!
    Lynching: Same line about the knackered gallows

    Day 3: Opening based first on nornironhorn's killing of SLB being the vet and finding someone in the medicine cupboard and then transforming into a wolf. Other was easier, Squibba chose Norway and as per the roles meant that Norway would become an adult wolf; I created a story about how it was done on the fly and the fact that the 'occupant' let the wolf in, fed him and drank its blood I was quite proud of in the end.
    Lynching: I changed my mind late on about this, previous game admins may need to remind me what colour blood the traitor's should be (when I was a traitor a year ago I wasn't caught!); so I decided that as the gallows were knackered that I would just tie moog to the remains of it and burn it filling the village with evil acrid smoke.

    Day 4: Opening was my best write up I think; I had prepared it quite early as I expected all 3 wolves to go for HH24 after WaS told me he was going to protect her. So I wrote the statue story. Then Meh said he was going to visit nornironhorn so, I then added the additional bit about a wolf going home to get a sledgehammer for the statue, finding Meh and killing him. Finally Squibba PMed me that he was going to go for dom, so I added that bit about throwing cricket stumps like darts but I had to slightly amend the statue story.
    Lynching: Now I just simply used the cricket stump to act as a stake through the heart.

    Day 5: Opening was supposed to be a sad affair about HH24 waiting for death, then I got the message from WaS to poison Cassetti. Then I changed it so I would have two parallel stories about both preparing a meal, the lady preparing a classy one but then find the wolves in her house; and the man preparing a lazy meal and throwing back a drink.
    Lynching: As a joke on Squibba being late each day, I decided that he would be late to his own lynching, the impatient villagers going to his house and finding the remains of previous days' lynchings on his table so they had confirmation before the act of killing him off.

    The lightning strike: At the end of Day 5 I said a villager got struck but lightning but I never explained it and I didn't look into werewolf wiki for its meaning. But I did the numbers and felt that after the intensity of Days 2, 3 & 4 that we were heading towards the end game and that if I just left it at 1 wolf and no seer that it could last until Wednesday with nothing happening. Therefore to guarantee an end by Monday or Tuesday I gave Norway 2 kills and I named steve harrow as a new seer on Sunday night.

    Day 6: Over the weekend I wrote the binge drinking villagers with the sword on the table to demonstrate that they were all watching each other; the bit about the heavy rain was that the Moonlight was blocked out and only on Sunday night did the rain stop and the skies clear. But everyone was too drunk to carry on drinking for a third night and the wolf made his move and killed the two known goods with their own weapons.
    Lynching: I bit easier to name everyone, 4 carrying steve harrow and one holding the sword.

    Day 7: The potioneer had put "From an admirer" on the two recipients of his potions so I added the same thing to his corpse surrounded by broken poison bottles.
    Lynching: Two possibles on their knees, get the instruction to kill Norway.

    Now the dust has settled and the village is very lonely, just me since Mike fled back to the Caribbean and PJ is at the racetrack I want to thank Otter (again) for the best game I've played in, HH for viewing Norn which was pivotal, had she viewed me as I know she wanted the game could well have turned out differently, and moog for the best exit ever.

    Fantastic additions to spice the game that worked well . Top marks many thanks Otter that must have have taken a hell of a lot of your time over the last week .Bar the last day ,being off sick it was a great diversion (pissed the wife aoff coz I kept nicking her lap top to check updates!)

    Ditto from me. I actually liked the uncertainty of the new roles and the ability of both teams to bluff a bit around them. Thanks to both @Optimistichornet and @With A Smile for their very timely interventions for Team Good (& for me in particular in the case of WAS).
    Fantastic game Otter and really appreciate the time it must have taken you to set it up and then run it.

    I suppose that had I not added the new roles and kept to a standard template of writing up overnight kills it would have taken less of my time but it certainly did spice things up. I also think that the very first viewing was pivotal to how the game went.

    Did it ever , I was torn between thinking thats too soon ,I have had no time to blend in and set myself up as good and thinking yeh really the Alpha should visit me tonight to mature me and we can get going as a fully fledged wolf,if only the gamma .
