Hannover were probably bemoaning the snow in Germany at the weekend as it denied them a vital goal in a 3-2 defeat..

Any other examples where the weather gods have played their part in something not happening that would have done in usual circumstances - muddy outfield, frosty pitch

No but I remember a very foggy match against Cardiff earlier in the decade. I sit in LGT in line with the edge of the centre circle nearer the Vic end, I could not see our last goal at the Rookery end. I think the ref must have been close to abandoning it.

I remember a Palace game when it got really foggy. Their fans were singing "I can't see a ####ing thing" or words similar.

I remember that one. They were also singing "Where the F*ck is Speroni"

I remember when Jamie Moralee played for us and that stopped us scoring.

  6. I remember a midweek cup match in the early 70s against Reading which was badly fog-affected too. My dad and I were standing in our usual spot in The Rookery directly behind the goal - whenever Mickey Walker ventured up to the edge of the penalty area we would lose sight of him. Apparently we won 5-0...

This was Malky's season here. The fog was horrendous, I was just guessing where the ball was. This game and the Pompey game that was just before/after the Cardiff game was poor for visibility. Gladly, I just about saw Andrew Taylor's beautiful volley hit the back of the net
