If I hear one more Watford supporter saying that, I think I'm going to smack them.

Do you not remember the awful negative football we played for the entire second half of last season? Do you not remember Capoue being played wide with instructions to just defend and not play the ball? Deeney and Ighalo covering the full backs in a 4-6-0 formation? Do you not remember Deeney telling the SKY interviewer that they do no work whatsoever in training on the offensive side of the game?

I'm in the Walter Out camp, but give me the choice between him and that spineless Spanish poser, I'll choose Wally a million times out of a million.

Well he didn't want to stay anyway..

In the latest "Tales from the Vic" book there is an interview with QSF and he seems to suggest he knew the end was coming 3 months before the end of the season as the Pozzos didn't speak to him etc.

Absolutely. At least under Walter since Xmas we're down with the occasional up (beating Arsenal and Burnley in a week), but under Quiche it was just down. His favourites club and general lack of interest was awful.

The Joka should still be here.

I would love to see how he would do now

Who's actually saying we should've kept Flores? Lots of argument about whether Mazzarri should stay or go, but I don't remember anyone (on here or at the handful of games I've been to) saying we should've kept Quique.

There was some pretty lively debate on here last season between the pro and anti Florrie factions, so I guess there must be some people who still look back to the golden age of Florrie and Jurado.

What we need is someone without the ego and isn't so self-obsessed (Like the majority of Football Managers and Head Coaches). Unfortunately, many wannabe top managers hold certain ideas and philosophies which they to try to instil everywhere they go, to almost build their 'way of football', even if it's clear from the outset that it probably won't work.

Agreed look at Zola at Birmingham, they were doing well in the league by playing direct football and now under Zola he wants to play passing football that does not suit the players he has.

Agreed but I think he would be a great coach/Asst Mgr - transferring his skills.

If you want to see people pining for those who have since left, look no further than Enjooooythegame on Facebook. Just wade through all the Forestieri/Vydra posts and you'll find plenty of Quique posts.

I kind of wish he was still here - not for his managerial prowess, but simply because I kind of fancied him.

You mean: between those of us who enjoy football, and a bunch of phone-torch waving pillow biters who wanted to swallow a load of his tattie water.

The only thing I've said even close was that at least under him we looked organised defensively. We're a shambles at times under Wally.

Right to let Quique leave, not sure if we were right in replacing him with Wally though.

I would to be so happy in this moment if the Slav was to be reappointed.

Fulham the form team outside the top 3 atm - won easily at Newcastle.

The net result is the same with Mazzari as it was with Quique, if not worse because we have less points at this stage than Quique did. At times it's more entertaining with Mazzari, and every so often he teases us with a performance that gets us all excited, whereas Quique just ground us all into the dirt with his negativity. Either way they were/are frustrating in their own different ways, clearly neither are the answer, but the journey to lower mid table mediocrity is slightly more palatable with Walter.

The point of replacing Slav was not that he's a poor manager, I'm sure Gino knows that's not the case, it was about having someone of higher profile to attract much-needed good quality players to the club. Also someone with a good track record in top leagues. A much as I miss Joka it was probably the correct thing to do. IMO.

While that might have been the case, I'm not sure how significant Flores was. Everyone we signed last season with the exception of Jurado and Suarez would have signed for us if we had kept Joka. We even resorted to kidnapping Holebas.

The impact of Flores' high profile on transfer proceedings must be praised. We'd never have got Jurado or Mario Suarez without him.

Another line that was fed to WDSport by the club to get the fans onside early doors for Quique. I would hazard a guess that apart from perhaps some of the star managers (Guardiola, Conte, Mourinho), the primary motivator for players is money. Apart from Prodl, all our other summer signings were players that had either lost the way and weren't first team regulars (e.g. Capoue, Behrami, Britos, Jurado), were already in the network (Vydra, Nyom) or were young prospects getting a massive pay rise to sign for us (Berghuis, Oulare). I can't see that any of those players would have turned down a nice Premier League pay packet if Jokanovic had been our manager. I'm pretty sure they weren't that excited to be signing for someone who'd spent the last four seasons coaching in the Middle East.

Another thing regularly trotted out on here at the time was that we would have gone down with Jokanovic as he liked to play 3-5-2 and we'd concede too many goals. This line of argument seemed to ignore how adaptable he'd been in the Championship where at different points we'd also played 4-3-3 and 4-4-2. He's now fashioned an excellent team at Fulham, who were tipped for the drop after losing their two star forwards and are now the form team in the division and are just outside the play offs. They play four at the back, are the best passing side in the division and have the most shots per game. They play in a completely different way to how we did when we got promoted, and this shows how good a coach he is.

Personally I think the imminent arrival of Flores did play a part in bringing in Prodl, Behrami, Britos, Capoue & Ake, plus a few others who where less crucial to us staying up in our first season. Just because QSF last job wasn't massive it doesn't mean he didn't have a good reputation. Would they have come anyway? We'll never know. IMO though, probably not.
